It's been a quiet news day today, so to give you something to look at, here are photos of two of the three available LEGO Movie polybag minifigs and TC-4.
The Robot DJ and Emmet in Pyjamas are being given away at various cinemas/theatres across the world at the moment. I picked mine up at an Odeon in the UK.
I must admit to not catching the DJ in the movie, but my wife says he was in there somewhere. It was hard to miss Emmet in Pyjamas, he gets a lot of screen time.
The DJ has a brown version of the hair/headphones used on the DJ in series 8 of the collectable minifigs. Emmet's back and sides of legs are printed with pyjama stripes. I wonder how long it'll be before we have minifigs with printing on the backs of their legs.
TC-4 is currently available in Toys R Us in the UK for £2.49 or free with a £10 Star Wars purchase. From what I hear though, he's proving hard to actually find. I am therefore grateful to SirKevbags from our favourite LEGO charity FairyBricks for securing one for me.
I'm no expert in protocol droids but it appears to be an identical print to other recent droid units. (update: it turns out that this is the first one with printed legs and mouth.)
All of these minifigs are made in China and it's interesting to see that the tell-tale signs of the place of manufacture are no longer present. Two of the minifigs have (c) LEGO inside a foot, and the hands no longer have a mould number visible on the wrist. However the plastic is still not quite on a par with that used elsewhere. Given these are unique figures, this won't bother collectors much anyway.
Three nice minifigs, grab them if you can...
