Build a LEGO minifigure event at Asda

Posted by ,

Next Wednesday, during half-term, Asda is holding an in-store build-a-minifigure event. Details are sketchy at the moment but bigpete spotted this long, thin banner outside his local branch and the event gets a mention on some store pages at Asda.com (half-way down the right hand side).

To my knowledge this is the first event of its type in the UK, whereas the US has had lots of TRU mini builds.

I wonder what minifigures they will have, even though it show's characters from The Lego Movie on the banner. Also on the Asda web page, it doesn't have any mention of this event on the pages for the 4 stores near me. :-(

Saw this banner outside my local asda but no mention on the stores web page.
Am often in the store so will try and ask if anyone knows more details.
Exciting to have something local, kids will love it.

I just looked at mine and it said that children can build life-size magnetic minifigures using lego parts, here's a direct quote of it.

"The kids can make up their own life-size magnetic Lego Minifigure using different Lego parts – and if you tweet a photo of the kids with their Lego creation using the hashtag #asdalegominifigures you’ll be entered into our prize draw for a chance to win a VIP Legoland Experience!"

It also says that they will get a free Robot DJ minifig and the chance to win prizes

My local Asda has a sign outside with the correct date, which is during half term (the 26th, as it's different in Wales to England, I think?)

By in Australia,

Scottish stores are doing this today. Was in my nearest Asda in Glasgow earlier, but couldn't get a minifigure without a child present. Thankfully I already have a robot DJ from Odeon.

By in United Kingdom,

Came across this event by chance at my local Asda today. All it is is a cardboard display with cardboard cut outs of characters from The Lego Movie. Each character is divided into legs, torso and head and it doesn't matter if you build a whole Emmet or a mix of characters by sticking them on the board by Velcro. Easy way to get a DJ Robot. Luckily I had the kids with me :-)

Were there any prizes like the website said? How were did you win them?

There was no competition or prizes. Basically my son put together President Business and was given the DJ Robot polybag. My daughter got one too and she didn't have to do anything.
