Nobody from maersk company don't want buy this set?) so now WE'll buy this ship:))) good to see old set for normal price:)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

but in this year should be GBP 100,00, not GBP 102,99:) they'll give us new VAT price from tomorrow. Everything is more expensive in new January 2011 catalog, unfortunately:(

By in United Kingdom,

How come its 99 Euros on the French online lego shop, 109.99 Euros on the Italian online lego shop, 109.97 Euros on the Spanish online lego shop and 129.99 Euros on the Irish online lego shop? And on the English online lego shop £102.99? That is just strange.

By in New Zealand,

@thekingofbuilding - each eu country has different VAT rates so this effects the selling price

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Pricing attractive? It was only £60 or £70 when it was first available, although admittedly that was 6 years ago.

Gravatar
By in United States,

What no U.S. or Canada thats not fair!

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

I'm on vacation in Denmark and I bought this it just came in and I got it for 900 kroner about $120

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

pricing is ok but it is a bit cuby looking. grahame could you do a page of special lego stuff for us in nz as we are normally left out.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Seriously!? I was hoping the remake would be available to everyone... but my dream only came half true! I'd love to order one in the United States, but too bad. I guess North America will have to wait. They better not exclude us though!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Strange, it looks identical to the first one that came out...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Gowinkle, 'a bit cuby'?! This is one of the finest models LEGO have ever made! No-one will regret buying it, it really is excellent.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It looks awesome, but too bad no US & Canada availability...

Happy New Year to all though!

EDIT: I switched to US on the link for fun and it said "You might like....Mini Helicopter, Krusty Krab Adventures, and FREEING DOBBY?!?!?!?! What the heck?! :P

Gravatar
By in United States,

No US? Come on!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hmmm... I've never seen a Lego ship with that design.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Huw yeah i admit i was a bit harsh and mind you all lego is cuby looking as it is made of little plastic cubes i looked at it again and saw more detail this time and shape particularly at the back. its a shame thye us and uk dont have it yet but think about all the exclusives you can get that us down under miss out on!

By in United States,

I hope that when this set becomes available, it will be 75 usd like the original. Does anyone know whether or not this set uses maersk blue, or a different shade of blue?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

um...it is available in canada and US guys....
US:119.99
Canada:139.99
Happy New Year!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

It is available in the us- it has not been added to the sites search engines yet- DONT PANIC! =) It is available to us in the US at $120. WOOOHOO

Gravatar
By in United States,

I bought it for $75 years ago and regret it. The pieces aren't anything special, just the color. It's an expensive dust collector. There are better sets to buy for the money. However calling a LEGO set blocky is funny.

By in United States,

It IS available in the US! Neat! I've never owned a single Maersk set, so I bought two of these. :D
The great thing about ships is that you can easily turn them into _space_ships. :)
Super space freighter ahoy! :D

By in Sweden,

Man, this thing was so cheap when I got the last model. Is this the exact same model as the one from six years ago?

Gravatar
By in United States,

YES thank you lego

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

£102.99 for 990 pieces is a bit steep , should be £80.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I also wondered about the colour; apparently some of the later versions of the 'original' Maersk Sealand didn't use Maersk Blue, and the Maersk Blue colour was apparently expensive to manufacture.

Regarding the price, it does seem a tad steep, but remember that you're getting lots of 'proper' bricks and plastic in this large model compared with many other sets which just boost the piece count with tons of greebles.

Gravatar
By in United States,

What's a proper brick? Most of the set is 2x2 grey pieces.

The set six years ago was correct color, they propably needed to order the color specially and that might show up in the price.

By in Taiwan,

Interesting to see a company-specific promotional set re-released to the broader public. I wonder if this could be an indication that a release of the Vestas wind turbine (4999) could come out. I'd like to see that, given that it's about 100x better than the 7747 wind turbine.

By in United Kingdom,

Regarding the colour, these are the notes which accompany the original Maersk Sealand releases : "Promotional release with Maersk Sealand. Also available from Shop At Home in limited numbers. In later releases, the Maersk blue bricks have been replaced with a different blue. See also later set 10155.".

And yes, 2x2 bricks are 'proper bricks' by my definition. Much more satisfying to handle and build with than hundreds of cheese slopes....

Agree it would be nice to see the Vestas set available from S@H.

Sinfanti - I rebuilt 4999 from the instructions I found online. It is a pretty cool set. I think that in general any company that Lego has built sets for in the past may start asking Lego to build them again and make a portion of the sales. It would make sense as more and more companies are looking for more revenue streams.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I contacted LEGO about the color and they said that it is the same color as the original.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

Wow! That seems nice! I always thought it was one of those promotional sets that you get when you travel, but it is so surprising to see that they have reached shop.lego.com!
I just wonder what the difference is between this one and the 10152. I can see that the company name has changed on the side, but I don't notice anything else!

Gravatar
By in Taiwan,

@AZFIREWOLF - I did the same thing. The 4999 was the set that brought me out of the dark ages.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

It is so nice to see that they have made a new and maybe better version than the one that came out years ago! Some people might still be confused...
