Buy Two, Get Third Free at Toys R Us Today

City Corner

The good news is that TRU is offering a Buy Two, Get 3rd Free deal today for LEGO sets. The deal is valid online and also likely in-store. As for the bad news, not only are Pharaoh's Quest and Star Wars excluded but nearly every large set is already sold out online. But there are some nice, eligible sets in stock including but not limited to NinjaGo as well as the Creator Jet, and TRU Truck. This may also be your last chance to pick up the now discontinued City Corner, City Dump Truck, or any Space Police set. To maximize the discount, be sure to buy 3 similarly priced sets.

Even worse news (for me), my local TRU's shelves have been bare since Christmas and said they wouldn't be getting anymore stock until Thursday.

The Ninjago prices are actually the same as LEGO's pricing. I'm surprised they haven't raised them. Yet.

Well I would think all the in store stuff would've been gone. My local TRU started filling the empty spots in the Lego section with over-stock baby crap around Christmas time. Though it is also no surprise their online selection is bare too. I'm just wondering why they'd bother with a sale when stocks are so low. It's a nice sale but I'm finding nothing to put in my cart.

The odd thing is that most TRUs did not know about the sale; the one I went to didn't have the sales signs (though under the scanner said LEGO PROMO) but after asking the manager he scanned the Turbo Sub 3x to make sure, and voila! It worked.

They also have the promotional Ninjago cards on the floor but manager said the "free w/ 30$ purchase) doesn't start till tomorrow. Though they did offer it for $3.49.

And what's with TRU doing more good sales every week? It wasn't like that 2 years ago.

Don't forget the current sales at target end at midnight. Battlepacks for 9 bucks vs 10.99, 11.99, or 12.97 for the hoth packs and the first clone packs.

Just went there today and picked up a ninjago set, but didn't bother with this sale due to TRU lacking the 2 smallest ones. Great purchase though since I had some rewards bucks to spend before the 15th.

Hah, found 2 Lego cargo trains at one of 3 TRU stores; one Public Transport, but no minifigs and only TRU trucks and Garages available.. Pass..

I just got back from my nearest TRU. There I was informed that a coupon was required for the buy two get third free deal. They then told me that they would look it up for me but they "don't have internet" and therefore could not. Then they said there was nothing they could about it, then they moved on to the next person. End result: I was too frustrated to buy anything.

Just got back from my local TRU (Orlando, FL).. first TRU didnt have any ninjago sets, so I went to the next one about 15mins away, they had about 85% of all the ninjago sets, didnt want to splurge a lot, so using Buy 2 Get 1 Free (No Coupon Required), and also spending over $30 for a Free Lego Star Wars Backpack for my nephew, I got 3 Ninja Ambush sets and 3 Ninja Outpost sets to build my ninja army, great deal! And surprisingly, TRU didnt jack up the prices on the Ninjago sets, so they were priced the same as the lego store.

I bet TRU just has employees buy out all the big sets and then sell them back to TRU.

It was a good deal but like most everyone said, it was pretty tough to find anything on the shelves.... :(

TRU alreasy overprices their sets so even by getting the 3rd one free (the cheapest one) you are still probably paying more than they actually cost at Lego. If I were to actually bother to lose money on that I would probably get the Hogwarts Express, the Space Police Central and the Polizia Lamborghini Gallardo. If anyone actually bought from the sale I would love to know what they bought considering that it is soooooooooooooo overpriced. Also, the sale only possibly saves you money if you go to the store so you don't have to pay for shipping. So TRU isn't getting my business, (this time).

The only signs up at my TRU were "Buy 2 Get 1 Free Duplo" and spend $30 on SW to get a free backpack. When I asked about the B2G1 promotion, they knew nothing about it. But it rang up fine at the registers. Eerex, did they just try ringing up your order??

actually it doesnt give you the cheapest for free.. ringing out together my 3 $6.99 sets and my 3 $4.99 sets at once, it gave me one $6.99 for free & one $4.99 for free... not two $4.99 free sets..

Anyone tried this online? It's not processing the discount on the 3rd (eligible) item....

Space Police 3 space station discontinued after only about six months! Not everybody has the money to buy loads of expensive Lego sets in a short space of time.

$14.99 - $16.99 for a SW BP is the norm around here. NYC. TRU jacks up the price like they are the only ones that carry them!! Saw the Winter Toy Shop for $89.99 2 months ago.

If anyone is looking for the new battle packs you might want to check out Bricklink. There are a number of stores that have them. Prices might be a little less expensive and then you won't need to go to the store, deal with traffic, and then deal with rude people.

There still seem to be a lot of Lego sets on Amazon.com in the US which aren't on Amazon.UK. If you're in the UK, can you just order things from the US Amazon in the normal way?

City Corner and Dump Truck are not discontinued and continue in 2011.
