London Toy Fair report: Start saving!

Posted by ,

Once again I've braved the near-freezing temperatures and a 2.5hr train journey to bring you LEGO news from the London Toy Fair. Today was the last day of the three day event, which was held at London Olympia. The LEGO stand was just about the biggest in the show and unlike neary all others there it was shrouded in secrecy, completely closed in, entry was by invitation only, and photography prohibited. I'm not really sure why because at the Nuremberg Speilwarenmesse in a couple of weeks it'll be more open and I suspect some photos will emerge.

So, in the meantime, you'll have to make do with my descriptions. I'll go through each theme that's being released in the second half of the year that's of interest to us here.

  • Harbour will be the City theme. There will be something like 5 sets including a harbour featuring a grain loading terminal and cargo ship, a marina, a fishing boat, a speedboat and powerboat on a truck. All are said to float.
  • The Creator sets are excellent: there's another house with white walls and red roof, a yellow sports car much like previous Creator cars and best of all a Lighthouse which really was excellent, and very different from anything made before.
  • Technic was slightly disappointing with only two new sets on show: a flatbed car recovery truck (think car clamping and subsequent removal) which had a very neat Power Functions mechanism and a 'bucket truck': a small American-style vehicle with a raising platform on the back. There are two others slated for release but they were not in evidence at the show.
  • There's more Ninjago to come including some very cool looking dragons and other monsters for the Ninja to ride on.
  • Alien Conquest looked aboslutely superb. It features aliens and humans and abduction/autopsy seems to be the main theme. The aliens, of which I counted something like 4 variants, have lime green heads and look great. The humans have legs/torsoes made with a new shade of blue. One set featured an archetypal circular UFO with light underneath and a very clever mechanism to abduct any humans it swoops down on. I could tell Mark Stafford had designed some of these: his trademark style was evident all over :-)
  • There are four new Kingdoms sets on the way of which two feature 'ordinary medieval village life', albeit with some marauding knights pillaging the place. The big news is that they feature new minifig-scale animals: chickens (in white and brown) and goats.
  • The Disney licenced room was shrounded in more secrecy than the rest of the stand and I will respect LEGO's request for confidentiality. Suffice to say that the Cars sets looked great. I was surprised as to how many are being released: something like 15 different sets. They won't appeal to everyone given there are no minifigs in them but they did look quite cute and they feature some neat parts in new colours.
  • Pirates of the Caribbean sets were also in there, of course, and the lady on the stand was somewhat surprised to hear that pictures had already been leaked online. The minifigs looked excellent and the 7 or so sets will feature something like 30 different figs. Jack Sparrow appears in them all and in every one he is different meaning that if you're a minifig collector you will need to buy every set...
  • There will be three new Harry Potter sets which will include something like 12-15 minifigs of which I estimate half of them to be new.
  • Two new SpongeBob sets (yawn...)
  • No less that nine Star Wars sets featuring a whole raft of new minfigs 'to die for' including a new Darth Maul, Savage Opress (wasn't he great in the latest episode of Clone Wars!) and Sebulba and Watto which are much improved on their previous incarnation. The Millennium Falcon looked pretty much like the older minifig versions: it still looked a bit rubbish, IMO. However the pod racers (Sebulba and Anakin's) were much improved on the old set. As you may have noticed in the databse there's going to be a Star Wars advent calendar. I'm not going to spoil any surprises and tell you what's in it, but needless to say it was excellent.
  • No new Atlantis or Pharaoh's Quest, and loads of more of the same HERO Factory. They'll be up to version 3.0 in the summer...

So that's about it. There's plenty to look forward to and save up for...

Look forward to the city and alien sets

By in Germany,

New SpongeBob sets? :) What do they look like? :)

EDIT: Do the Alien Conquest human minifigure helmets have trans-clear visors? :) VITAL question... :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

As awesome as these unveilings are, they make me nervous... about how much all of it's going to cost me!

Alien Conquest looks great, from what I've seen... but I'm probably most excited about the Kingdoms windmill set! And to think, I'm a CITY & PIRATES guy!!

Any glimpse of Series 5 of the Collectible Minifigs?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Huw Thanks for all of this news, did you take note of what the new HP minifigs are, they sound promising? Thanks.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Thanks for the info Huw! Can't wait to see and get some of the new sets!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow! I am going to lose all of my money this summer. :) These sound like great sets! Thanks, Huw!

Gravatar
By in United States,

New minifig scale animals for my farm.... goats and chickens to go with my pigs and cows!!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

You know Pepper.... you never lose money when you buy LEGOs!!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

wow so many great sets, goodbye money

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wonder how much these sets are going to average now. I'll wait for TRU rewards bucks and free shipping offers. ;)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Goats and chickens! :o) Thanks so much for the updates, Huw.

Gravatar
By in United States,

COOL! Thanks so much for this info, Huw! I can't wait to see the new SW sets especially that advent calendar- SOOO EXCITED TO SEE IT!!!!!
The city sets sound awesome too!!!!
No photography allowed?!? Man, that's so UNFAIR. I'll guess we'll just have to wait....

By in Canada,

Are the CARS sets Lego or more Duplo?

First post.....yippee

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I thought there were two city subthemes released twice a year. If so what is the second summer one? I'm hoping for Hospital or Cargo.

Can you tell us what the (or at least some of the) HP minifigs were?

Are the Ninjago Dragons brick built or like the fantasy era castle ones?

Is the creator car minifig scale as they seem to be moving in that direction generally. (I have seen a leaked picture of the lighthouse)

What's the powerboat on a truck like? I have seen images of the rest.

Can you give any more HP info? ie; does Battle for Hogwarts have any building or just minifigs? What does The Forbidden Forest contain? How similar are the old and new knight buses?????

Thanks if you can answer even some of these questions.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@sixshot19 CARS sets will be both regular LEGO and Duplo

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think my bank account will be begging for mercy this year!

I only usually collect HP, Pirates and Castle... but it seems all three of my favourite themes have sets coming out. Was really looking forward to the Pirates of the Caribbean and Harry Potter sets anyway, and with new figs for HP (I hate how many doubles I have of some characters!) they'll be a must have. The PotC sets sound great, and I can't wait to see what the new kingdom sets look like now, seems like they'll go great with my Medieval Village (and with chickens and goats woohoo!).

While the other themes (like Star Wars) sound really good, lack of funds (and storage space!) limits my collecting.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

You have permission to tell us what is in the SW Advent Calendar! =D

Thanks for this news! =)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Thanks Huw!!!!
Great descriptions and sounds like a bunch of great new sets.. especially harbor and a SW Advent Calendar.. about 10 years too late, but heck Ill take it :-)
I wonder how much it will be though.. I mean Lego gouges on their normal calendar..
I am guessing the SW ones will be 40-45 dollars

Gravatar
By in Italy,

Great Lego sets! I just can't wait to see those pictures...

Gravatar
By in United States,

> Can you tell us what the (or at least some of the) HP minifigs were?

I can't remember much of the last book but I believe they tie in with it. The Battle for Hogwarts consists of a couple of towers and an entranceway and 4-5 figs, one of which is what looks like a student in a new uniform and McGongagall I think it is in a dark tan dress

The Knight Bus is much like the old one, and comes with c.3 figs: Harry, the driver and another old guy.

The Foridden Forest recrates the scene when Hagrid is captured and comes with an adult female who, if you're familiar with the story, you probably know who it is. I can't remember, sorry I'm being a bit vague: the lady on the stand didn't know their names either :-)

> Are the Ninjago Dragons brick built or like the fantasy era castle ones?

Brick built like the ice one out now

> Is the creator car minifig scale as they seem to be moving in that direction generally.

No, 10-12 or so wide.

> What's the powerboat on a truck like? I have seen images of the rest.

European style, flat cab, yellow. Long trailer with white boat.

> Are the CARS sets Lego or more Duplo?

Both. The c.15 sets does NOT include the Duplo ones.

> Do the Alien Conquest human minifigure helmets have trans-clear visors?

Damn! I forgot to look closely but in the pics in the trade catalogue they look trans black

Gravatar
By in United States,

Can't wait for the alien conquest sets!!!
Can you say what kind of vehicles are predominant in the alien conquest sets?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I wont be buying much lego at the moment because I am saving my money for most of those fantastic themes. I want all the star wars , alien counquest , Pirates of the carrabean , some of those creator sets and maybe the cars sets [when pictures come out].

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

Well, looks like I have to rob the LEGO Store...

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

Why couldn't I have been there? Grrr...

Gravatar
By in United States,

> Can you say what kind of vehicles are predominant in the alien conquest sets?

Flying saucers!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Thank you very much for that info! But can you at least tell us whether the SW calendar was predominantly Clone Wars or OT?

Gravatar
By in United States,

^ It features mini models from the entire galaxy and 8 minifigs, I think

Gravatar
By in United States,

Thanks. Are they all old minifigs or are there any new ones?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Can't wait to go to the NY Toy Fair next month and see these in person!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Huw Would you mind if I asked what the colour of the new Knight Bus is, is it Dark Purple like the old one? Thanks.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Thanks Huw! The lady you refer to with Hagrid is Madame Maxine of Beauxbaton school! SWEET! I'll finally have an official one?! I made my own up of course that's with my dragon task scene. Diffently looking forward to them. You didn't by chance take any photos, did you? Or were you not allowed?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I can not wait for most of them sets Huw! I think I will let Lego tie me down and make me watch my money burn this time. I wanted, like LegoCoastGuard, some hospital and cargo sets, plus maybe another post van or two....but I am not sad with harbour to be honest....

Gravatar
By in United States,

Shoot, was really hoping to hear word on the next modular building.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Excited for the CARS release in non-Duplo. Also for the harbor themed City sets and the PoC.
This might be and expensive year, but the Minifigures Series and Maersk train are tied at the top of my want list.
I need to win the lotto! haha

Gravatar
By in United States,

The hp woman is Narcissa! I am sure of it! I don't want to spoil the movie for anyone though so I won't explain it.

Huw-Any vague recall that Neville was included in the Battle of Hogwarts?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Huw: Did the Darth Maul and Savage minifigs have new horn pieces on their heads, or are the horns moulded with the minifig head?

Yeah, with all the new SW coming out I'm broke.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Hey Huw. Were the SpongeBob DUPLO?

Gravatar
By in United States,

crayaweawesomeyeah-He didn't take any as they are not allowed and we all know the amount of respect huw holds for tlg (can't be tlc which means Tender Loving Care).

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

My reckonings for the HP sets based on what Huw described:

Battle for Hogwarts:
Minifigs: Professor Sprout, Harry Potter, Voldemort, Professor Snape and Neville Longbottom

Knight Bus:
Minifigs: Ernie Prang, Harry Potter, Stan Shunpike and the Grim

Forbidden Forest:
Minifigs: Hagrid, Madam Maxime/Narcissa Malfoy and Harry Potter

I'm almost certain that the Battle for Hogwarts will come with Voldemort; it wouldn't make much sense if he was excluded from that set. Also, the "student in a new uniform" may be Harry Potter in one of his many sets of clothes he wears in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Part 2. Finally, [REDACTED by Yellowcastle; No Spoilers please :o)]

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Huw, does the SW calender include old figs or new, never done before ones? Like 4-LOM, Zuckuss and Leia in bounty hunter gear?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Another Falcon, can't wait! Thanks for the pics HQuiff! Looks like i had better make some more space in my Lego room lol.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Brickmaster: Not really, I was reffering to anyone who thought it was Maxime. And no, she was not in that scene, Hagrid ended up in the forest after being taken away by a group of acromantula. Narcissa did not capture Hagrid, she was just key to that scene.

Gravatar
By in United States,

> The Forbidden Forest recreates the scene when Hagrid is captured

That is what the lady showing me told me. I have read the books, when first released, and I can't even remember the scene let alone who was involved!

One thing I have just remembered is that the woman, whoever she was, had two-colour hair: mostly brown with lighter brown or blonde highlights round the front edges, which I think is a first for a minifig.

> does the SW calender include old figs or new

All old bar one, which is the best one.

> colour of the new Knight Bus is, is it Dark Purple like the old one

Same colour as before

> Did the Darth Maul and Savage minifigs have new horn pieces on their heads

Yes a new soft plastic horn piece, a bit like a washer that goes over the stud, and ends up flush with it. It looked very effective.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow, all this news sounds great! I've currently lost interest in the online LEGO community, but still buy LEGO sets, so I can't wait to see how all these sets look, especially the new themes and the licensed themes!

Gravatar
By in United States,

All these sets sound fantastic, particularly PoTC and Alien Conquest; I have a feeling my budget will suffer this year. Wish there was a bit more regarding Hero Factory however; any information you remember that may be worth noting? :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Huw, I'm confused, did you mean all old 'but' one? If so, gosh, I'm dying to know what it is...
Well maybe I'll just ask this, is it a Jedi?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Any sign of exclusives, ssuch as a modular building?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Still no sign of the elusive Technic "Extreme Cruiser" then...

Any indication of prices? I am quite curious how much the Flatbed Truck is going to set me back, as the Unimog has already ensnared a large portion of my budget... and then there's Alien Conquest as well, which is so B-Movie I can't possibly pass up on it, I'll almost certainly buy a few of those.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Awesome news. I'm definitely getting the new Harry Potter sets. Especially since PoA is my favorite of the movies (love the knight bus). By the sounds of it, the woman in the Forest set is Narcisa Malfoy (she's got two-toned hair), and I'm willing to bet that the which in the Battle set is actually Pr. Sprout (she's known for brown/tan robes). Also, the "old guy" figure in the bus set should actually be the driver (Ernie Prang), the guy in the purple suit is Stan Shunpike. Though I do have a couple of questions (hope you don't mind).

1)Is Hagrid in the Forbidden Forest set? I can't tell if you're saying that he is, or just using him as a way to describe that scene without ruining it for those who haven't read the books. I'm already going to get the set when it comes out, but if it had Hagrid in it, I would be ten times as excited for it.

2)When you saw the Knight Bus set, could you see if there was a minifigure head painted up to look like a shrunken head? I would love it if he wasn't just printing on the windshield this time.

3)Were there any animals that you could see in any of the Harry Potter sets? Like owls, the grim, maybe a blast-ended skrewt, lol.

Thank you in advance if you could answer those for me. If not, no biggy.

By the looks of it there might be some non-Harry Potter sets I might get this year. That Kingdoms set that has the goats in it sounds really interesting. I'm also looking forward to the PoC sets. Though there's only one of those sets that sounds interesting enough to buy, imo, and that's the Fountain of Youth set. Can't pass up getting Captain Jack, Barbosa, and Black Beard all in one set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Thank you very much, Huw, can't wait to see some official pictures in the (hopefully, near) future.
I'm very interested in the new HP sets. One question though: You said one of the HP figs had a new uniform. By this, do you mean it had the same general design of the Slytherin and Gryffindor uniforms, or did it seem to have a different emblem and color combination, possibly Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw?

Gravatar
By in United States,

For the star wars advent calandar...by mini-models ! do you mean like really mini versions of ships? or extra parts like: computer consols, maybe the torture deive used on the donk in jabba palaca, not sure what you mean by mini models

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Ravenxl7 Was the shrunken head printed on the windscreen last time? If it was I didn't get it. :-(

Gravatar
By in United States,

@LegoCoastGuard - I'm not sure if it was printing or a sticker (never owned the thing myself, just have the mini version), but he was definitely on there. Did a quick google search, and found a picture from the instructions:
http://bricks.argz.com/bricksfiles/lego/04000/4755/032.jpg
I'm really hoping he's a minifigure head this time. A hair piece, while epic, wouldn't be necessary imo. I just want him to be more than just printing/a sticker on the windshield. He's probably one of my favorite things they added to the movies that wasn't in the books.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Ravenxl7 I shall have to complain to Customer Services. Mine was plain and I had no idea it shouldn't be!
Wouldn't it be a bit out of scale though if it was a minifig head? Looking at the size of it on that picture it's only about as big as a minifig hand.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ Everyone - I'm likely not the only one who hasn't finished the HP series so no spoilers! :o)

Gravatar
By in United States,

That's totally narcissa!! Awesome!!!!!!!! Can't wait for Ernie Prang, either!!! I hope Neville comes with the hogwarts set, or i'll blow a gasket!!!!!!!! I hope pr. Sprout and/or pr. Trelawney's in it too! I would also like a nymphadora tonks!!!!.......;) thanks huw!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@LegoCoastGuard
Yes, it would technically be out of scale, but honestly, given the cartooniness of the Lego world, that wouldn't bother me.

@crazyawesomeyeah
As stated in the article, the Lego booth at the London Toy Fair is a no-pictures area. We'll get pictures soon enough, be patient.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

no pics they can be spoilsport sometimes but it gives us more to look forward to :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

What did the Spongebob sets look like? I have a 3 year old who loves Spongebob, and it might be worth getting, for me at least. Any hope of Lego doing any Star Wars sets with Queen Amidala in them? I saw the preview for the Lego Star Wars 3 game and in it, she is wearing the black outfit with headdress. I think She would be a big seller.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@crazyawesomeyeah, i was not there. But based on what huw stated, i can tell that Narcissa and Ernie are coming in the new sets. I wish i was there though!!!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@spency13, not just Narcissa and Ernie. There's also Prof. Sprout. She's the "Tan McGonagall"...

Gravatar
By in United States,

@tin7_creations, are you sure?! Omg!!!!!!! Prof. Sprout!!!!!!!! Sorry, i just love me my prof. Sprout!!!!!;)

Gravatar
By in Canada,

What I can confirm right now is Narcissa Malfoy, Prof. Sprout, Ernie Prang, Stan Shunkpikeand of course Harry Potter himself; who I assume will be in every set.

However, according to Huw's descriptions:

1) Forbidden Forest set depicts Hagrids's capture in Deathly Hallows; so I assumer Hagrid and Voldemort are in the set as well. Together with Narcissa and Harry.

2) Knight Bus will have Harry, Ernie, Stan, and will be dark purple.

3) Battle for Hogwarts has 4-5 figs: Prof. Sprout is the "Dark Tan McGonagall" he describes; there's also a student in a "new uniform", who I assume to be Neville, as Neville played a critical role in the Battle for Hogwarts.
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/eskallon1/Eurobricks-Stuff/Harry-Potter/picture_2.png
Here's a zoomed-n screenshot of some of the new Harry Potter figss from a news broadcast. You can see Sprout in the back, and probably Nevile beside her. The other 2 figs in Battle for Hogwarts is probably Snape and Harry.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Hello huw, thank you for sharing so much information with us!
I would really help me if you answer one more question about the harry potter sets, is there a centaur in any of the sets?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Can't wait for the harbor theme, I missed out on the last port with the cargo ship.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So LEGO Spongebob is NOT over? YES!! I can resume my original collection! I just hope the sets aren't a terrible rehash like last years sets. Man, am I the only member to like the theme?

@Huw, we still want to know.... WHAT DO THE SPONGEBOB SETS LOOK LIKE?? Please and thank you!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@legofanatic2414, the spongebob sets are just duplo.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I've seen some pics of the Alien Conquest theme, and they look AWESOME! I'll be savin' up my $$$...
Also, no new Pharaoh's Quest? Rats! I love the adventurer minifigs in that theme!

Gravatar
By in United States,

First, wooo........first BS post!
Hi all!

Huw, I am very curious about the new kingdoms sets, so much so that I created a brickset account!

Can you tell me if there is any sort of dragon castle/base and if so how it compares to the prison tower? Any info on new dragon sets would be great!
Thanks

Gravatar
By in Canada,

huw can you tell us if you saw ventress and camander cody? from star wars

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nice to hear about the HP sets, been waiting for a Sprout for once. They really could have re-done the Shrieking Shack too, maybe we'd get a Nagini, come to think of it, Nagani should be in the Battle of Hogwarts Set anyway. Maybe I can just use the old Basilisk, it was nothing like a Basilisk.

What about the fleshie Padme? That was in the Sith inflitraitor, and I swear that there was a Flesh Qui-gon in the Pod-race set too.

Finally and Ernie Prang, I didn't feel like making a custom one anyway. It really needed to be there.

Wit, by towers and an entrance, do you mean the entrance hall? I thought that was what the 2007 version was meant to be.

Thanks for the info though, Huw.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Aww. No new Atlantis or Pharoh's Quest? Darn. Anyways, I can't wait for the new Kingdoms sets; way better than the fantasy era (plus the farm is amazing) Did you see the new Hoth set? I really want to know what it's like.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Alien Conquest sounds interesting. It needs to look doubly so if it is fill the void in my heart left by the demise of Space Police! Finally, I shall be able to get a Sith Infiltrator! I feel like the Advent calendar for Star Wars is going to be full of Chinese-plastic mini-figures, unfortunately.

All in all, it is a good thing I start my full-time job come August! That salary will go to Lego (after food, clothes, and other essentials, of course).

Gravatar
By in United States,

NO!....oh good heavens, please Mayorca, don't even suggest that the advent calendar is cheap plastic......oh goodness please be real LEGO plastic...then you wouldn't receive a new gift everyday leading up to Christmas, you'd receive a disappointment...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Can you tell me what the Ninjago dragons look like? I'm INCREDIBLY interested in getting all of them, but not if they're all just repaints of the Ice Dragon but with different figs.

Also, is the Fire Temple as awesome as I imagine it to be (The movie showed it as a huge temple with the Fire Dragon hiding in it)?

EDIT: What kind of other monsters that the Ninjas can ride on? And the vehicles the skeletons ride? I'm really looking forward to NinjaGo...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Huw, I'm a bit confused about your reply as to wheter or not the 'figs with the SW Advent Calendar are you or not. Clarification please? Thanks, and you gotta be overwhelmed!! :O

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Any series 5 minifigs? :C)

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ Ravenxl7---oh. thx. i didnt read it whoops.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Exus-the ninjas ride on dragons.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Okay. So now I am officially saddened. There are too many awesome sounding sets to buy. I have mainly focused on buying Star Wars and Castle. My Son is into HP. I can't take another awesome theme. It is too much to buy and store. Please TLG, stop making so many themes. You're killing me.

Huw, which version of the old Millennium Falcon's was the new one like?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh I hope there will be some new pharaohs quest! I didn't like Atlantis, and, behind power miners, I think pharaohs quest is my second favorite theme! The adventure and Egyptian theme is truly excellent. I hope this series goes kind of adventurers and traveles to many different lands!

Gravatar
By in United States,

When do the city/space sets come out?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I read on another website (Brick Town Talk) that there was a rumor that this year's modular set would be some kind of pet shop. Anyone heard anything?

Gravatar
By in United States,

wow I'm excited, and it's been a while since I took particular interest in news on this site (of which I'm ashamed of). Alien conquest sounds great, but the autopsy might sound a bit controversial...

Gravatar
By in United States,

DUPLO? Man, I really wanted new Spongebob sets. Will Darth Maul come with a hood aswell and will it be a redesign?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I heard somewhere that Powerminers was coming back, but it must have been wrong. I really hope Lego continues wit hmore modular buildings!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@ Shootvolio: In the UK we can already get the city space sets :D From Argos.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Can you give any details of the spongebob? :)

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Thanks for the info Huw! Did you manage to get a look at the rumoured Hoth Echo Base (set 7879) that's supposed to be coming out btw?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

For LEGO, Toy Fair is about selling future products to general toy retailers ... so, anything that's a LEGO Direct exclusive in the UK (e.g. new modular buildings, Maersk train, etc.) won't be on show, because LEGO don't sell these sets to general toy retailers in the UK. Also anything that's a retailer exclusive (i.e. anything that's exclusive to Toys'R'Us, Argos, etc.) won't be on show either - they are only sold through LEGO's own outlets & the particular retailer chain, so they won't be offering to sell them to general toy retailers either. Other Toy Fairs will operate in a similar way.

That means that what's on show at Toy Fair is only a subset of what's coming each year. Sometimes entire themes are missing - in 2009, there was no Space Police 3 at Toy Fair UK, because in the UK SP3 was only available directly from LEGO when it was first released.

The big retailers (TRU, etal) have their own private 'Toy Fairs' with LEGO to discuss purchasing future products, where they will also discuss which sets will be 'exclusives'. Any sets we think are coming later in the year, but aren't on show at Toy Fair, are likely to be retailer exclusives ... if I had to guess, I'd say, if it's genuine, the 'Hoth Echo Base' will be a TRU exclusive ...

Gravatar
By in United States,

> is there a centaur in any of the sets?

No

> Can you tell me if there is any sort of dragon castle/base

The sets are all small-ish, no dragons.

> What about the fleshie Padme?

Yes there is a flesh Padme, but not in full queen regaila: just the same gear, or similar, as last time she made an appearance

> I feel like the Advent calendar for Star Wars is going to be full of Chinese-plastic mini-figures, unfortunately.

That didn't look to be the case: so far the Advent calendars have been free of cheap Chinese rubbish and I believe they will be this year.

> whether or not the 'figs with the SW Advent Calendar are new or not.

All the figs have appeared before, but one of them is in new clothes, and it's not a queen Amidala, sadly.

> Huw, which version of the old Millennium Falcon's was the new one like?

The one with the the triangluar plates on the top which don't mesh very well.

> SpongeBob

They aren't Duplo, one was some sort of fairground rise and the other a vehicle, I think.

> Did you manage to get a look at the rumoured Hoth Echo Base (set 7879)

Yes. It's a small set, a tree and speeder bike, with 2 ewoks.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So wait, 7879 Hoth Echo Base is just 7956 Ewok Attack??

Gravatar
By in Australia,

This sounds dangerous for my finances - everyday medieval life sets, a Creator lighthouse and FIFTEEN CARS SETS! I'm a massive Cars and Pixar fan and must have them all...

Gravatar
By in United States,

When you referenced Hero Factory, you said "more of the same"; do you remember if the larger sets were humanoid or animalistic? I ask because there have been rumblings of animals being the opposing force.

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

This question has been asked before, but still: Are there any animals in the new HP sets? I mean e.g. the Grim (Sirius in dog form) or Nagini (Voldemort's snake)...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Is the Star Wars Advent Calender based around the films, Clone Wars or a mixture?

Gravatar
By in United States,

> Are there any animals in the new HP sets

No

> Is the Star Wars Advent Calender based around the films, Clone Wars or a mixture?

A mixture, and one of the figs has not appeared in any of the films, books, cartoons and is unlikely ever to. But to say more would spoil the surprise...

> So wait, 7879 Hoth Echo Base is just 7956 Ewok Attack??

Doh! I'm getting my Hoth and Endor planets confused, sorry! I described the Ewok attack, of course. There were no Hoth sets on display, and there isn't one in the retailers' catalogue either. Maybe it'll be a TRU exclusive or something.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Aaaahhh so exciting and so jealous you got to see all this new stuff. Will save my money for the new kingdoms stuff, guess it will be out in the summer? And may have to pick up a few POTC sets for the new pieces and figs. And despite not being a Star Wars collector, the advent calendar sounds like a must, and I'm sure will be hard to find, i won't speculate on the special figure, but have a cool guess based on that info...

Gravatar
By in United States,

All of these sets sound great! I sure wish that I was there! I can't wait for the new LEGO Star Wars, as well as Ninjago and of course... The New Alien conquest sounds really awesome, gotta love your aliens!
Can you tell me what the POTC minifigs looked like, is there a new a new pirate hat piece or a new head for the squid faced guy? Anyways, Now that I hear about all of this, I'm going to be checking every site that I know about for new pictures at least twice a day!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Weakbro - yes there are new pirate hats and unfortunately Davy Jones isn't in any of the sets (that we know of)

And Huw - was the Black Pearl there by any chance and if so can you give us any details - Apart from of course that it is a ship ;)

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Alien Abduction :O Awesome - I love some typical ufo-designs with circular form and light and some kind of dome on top...

Looking forward to Pirates-OTC sets too tho'!

Gravatar
By in United States,

"A mixture, and one of the figs has not appeared in any of the films, books, cartoons and is unlikely
ever to. But to say more would spoil the surprise..."

-- I'm going to bet that this is the GEORGE LUCAS fig we've seen in the DK book. Huw???

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm guessing a Lucas figure as well.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Yep when I read Huw's reply I was thinking the exact same thing, I bet it'll be George Lucas.
I'm not very interested in that though, I'm really looking forward to the new HP, Kingdoms and Town sets though!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wait, the spongebob's are not duplo?! Then this concerns me. I just got out of spongebob fase!!! How am i supposed to get back into it? I guess it just depends on if there are any cool minifigs in them. That 'fairground' is most likely Glove World, as it is the only fairground featured on the show. I don't know what the vehicle could be, though. I hope one of these seTs come with Pearl or Larry.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow, this all seems so great, I can't wait to get Darth Maul and Savage Opress. I can't wait to see what they look like with horns on their heads! Of course the exclusive minifig is going to be George Lucas, who else... Oh, I got it, the only minifig not in Star Wars that's better than George Lucus is CHUCK NORRIS!!! Of course, that wouldn't make sense, so it's going to be George Lucas. The best one out of all of this is definetly Star Wars, but if I have money left I'm going for the Alien Conquest, and maybe some Pirates of the Carribean.

@Huw - Yes Savage Opress was in the new Clone Wars episode. If Lego wanted to make a movie-acurate sized one, they would give him long legs like they did for Woody (in Toy Story)

P.S. LEGO! We need a Chuck Norris figure. Sneak some in through the Collectible Minifigure series!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I still haven't given up hope of Ice Power Miners!
I'd love ice monsters!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I dont' think the new SW fig in the SW calendar is going to be George Lucas, remember Huw said:

"All the figs have appeared before, but one of them is in new clothes, and it's not a queen Amidala, sadly."

My bet is that it's a proper iconic SW character (e.g. luke, vader) dressed up as santa claus.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Spongebob sets are:

Glove World
Heroic Heroes with mermaid man and barnacle boy

Gravatar
By in United States,

>> Are there any animals in the new HP sets
>No

Is there a chance you overlooked them or just didn't notice them? It would be rather sad if the Knight Bus didn't have Hedwig and the Grim.

Also, is Hagrid in the Forbidden Forest set?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

These sound awesome. 2011: The best year for LEGO yet!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@huw

so is the minifig thats not in any films george lucas himself?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@keithkram - I think we're going to have to wait and see, and rightfully so.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm agreeing with Atkinsar, I bet it's Darth Vader in a Santa suit! "Luke, I am your father (christmas)!!!"

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Do you remember seeing any christmas sets for 2011? thanks :)

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Is there a Penelope Cruz fig in the POTC sets?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

yes. Penelope Cruz's character is in the Queen Anne's Revenge set.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The problem with all this discussion makes me want to go out and buy a new LEGO set right now, unfortunately I have yet to recieve my monthly stipend for such things and also it is snowing quite fiercely therefore it would be inadvisable to trek out and travel by bus to the store.

I too suspected George Lucas as the character we weren't likely to see. Perhaps it's Mara Jade??? I was just thinking the other day that seeing some SW sets based on the novels wouldn't be so bad. I could use a Grand Admiral Thrawn and Mara Jade Mini-Figure among others.

Looks to me that there is definitely a lot to look forward to this year, as every year, the trouble is picking which Themes to concentrate on to the budget conscious collector.

Gravatar
By in United States,

SW Advent calendar: I agree, the fig is probably george lucas. Lego already accidentally spilled this one in a promo photo. You can delete if I'm right. http://www.flickr.com/photos/fbtbnet/4878104227/

Edit: actually it's in the back of the LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary book. So it was officially made by TLG but never released. Just speculation given the great hint!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That's never an official figure. Look at the flesh face and yellow on the torso. And who is George Lucas anyway? Is he from Star Wars?

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Is the truck 6 wide or 8 wide in the City powerboat set? Bit hard to tell from the blurry photo I have seen. Thanks.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@legocoastguard: George Lucas MADE Star Wars!

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

I'm really excited about the Star Wars ones! By the end of this year I will have 16 different Clone Wars Jedi!

Gravatar
By in Finland,

In the leaked trade catalogue pictures of Kingdoms set only white chickens were visible. Did you notice whether the brown ones are definitely of the same mold or could they be roosters instead?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

starfire2 Sorry :-P As I said, I don't know anything about Star Wars!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was just hanging out with friends and I told one of them about the possible new George Lucas minifig and he had already heard about it on another website, so it's probably going to be a George Lucas minifig.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

@LegoCoastGuard: *Facepalm* How can someone not know anything on Star Wars? :P

Gravatar
By in United States,

^I know, that seems impossible! lol

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ok, i'm sorry to keep going on about harry potter when y'all are talkin' about star wars, but i just gotta say, i think that maybe Horace Slughorn will be in the battle for Hogwarts set, based on the info i have about it so far. I also think Flitwick and Mcgonnagal will be in it too. I think those three, plus Sprout, will be in the set because of the role they play in the final movie/book. Just a guess. Also, i'm very excited for the new spongebob sets now!!!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Not entirely, I myself knew nothing of Star Wars until my father introduced it to me as a teenager five or so years prior to the release of the SE in 1997. Although I must have watched Ewoks and Droids as a child, but having never seen the films they were based on I just chalked it up to being a fun Saturday morning cartoon.

There are quite a number of individuals who most assuredly know not of the lore that was made by George Lucas.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It seems unlikely that a George Lucas fig would be put in the Star Wars advent calander. What kid wants to get some boring old guy in a Star Wars themed advent calendar box (other than me)?

Gravatar
By in United States,

^Maybe there will be text explaning what it is?^

Gravatar
By in United States,

"All the figs have appeared before :and one of the figs has not appeared in any of the films, books, cartoons and is unlikely ever to" I doubt its George Lucas, its probably Darth Vaders apprentice! I believe he fits the mold since he's only appeared in video game and lego form.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I always find it odd Lego is sobparanoid. We will get these pictures officially in three weeks at the NYC fair. The only sets that haven't leaked are HP and SB. I'm guessing SB is his how and the little market again? I wish Lego would bring back Avatar sets, great TVseries.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Which characters are included in the Harry Potter sets? New and old?
Are there any new molds/objects in the Harry Potter sets? Can the Battle of Hogwarts connect to the Hogwarts that was released in 2010? Lastly, is this the last of the Harry Potter LEGO line?

Sorry for the questions, just very excited that the line will be continued into Deathly Hallows.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

@ LegoCoastGuard - "And who is George Lucas anyway? Is he from Star Wars?". Haha, Classic.

@ Huw - Do the Cars sets use stickers for details? I try to avoid sets with stickers and if they do include stickers I leave them off. It'd be very hard to resist the Cars sets even if they do include stickers... but I sure hope they don't.

Gravatar
By in United States,

>Do the Cars sets use stickers for details?

No, they are printed, thankfully

Gravatar
By in United States,

There are new Spongebob and Harry Potter..... YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so pumped!!!!!! Oh my gosh, getter start saving!!!!~

Gravatar
By in United States,

After last night's episode of The Clone Wars, we need a set featuring the duel between Count Dooku, Asajj Ventress, and Savage Opress. It'd be nice if the set came along with King Katuunko. It'd be an easy way to get six Sith lightsabers!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@10or, yeah, i forgot to ask are these the final harry potter sets? I hope not; i still need an Umbridge and a Lupin and a Tonks and a Mad-Eye, Kinglsey, Fudge, Rita Skeeter, the Patils, Shaymus, Dean, Cho, and Bill and Fleur!!!! Oh, and a Trelawney!! I need all these minifigs, and then the hp sets can end.

Gravatar
By in United States,

YES! Narcissa! Sprout! Neville! Ernie! Stan! Possibly Neville, and, need I hope for it? Slughorn, Tonks, and Lupin! I am so excited!

Gravatar
By in Philippines,

Hmmm... While I am glad that there will still be Harry Potter sets released in the coming months, I also can't help but feel a bit frustrated.

Until I see the pictures, I can't tell yet if I should get excited for these next three sets. From what Sir Huw described, none of the new HP sets looks extraordinarily promising. I mean, was there really a need to recreate the Knight Bus (much like the issue with Hogwarts Express)? It appears that we'll see the very same details as to those of the previous version. They only added one minifigure to compensate for the unnecessary re-release.

Then there's the Forbidden Forest... If I may I ask Sir Huw, could you tell the piece count for this set? Because for me, it doesn't look like a big one. I could imagine Narcissa, Hagrid, and Harry being surrounded by a bunch of trees and well... that's about it. There's probably going to be a small baseplate but then it doesn't seem to make up for it.

And lastly, the Battle of Hogwarts... I'm not expecting this set to look anything grandiose (like the four versions of Hogwarts Castle) since they're depicting a war scene. However, I would've expected it to contain at least 8 minifigures to justify the so-called battle. May I again ask the piece count for this set Sir Huw? You mentioned a couple of towers and an entrance way. But I'm guessing they're all just bits and rubbles everywhere. Like an exterior look of the castle. No other features or whatsover. I think it's more of a backdrop than an actual castle. Am I right Sir Huw? =D

And they seem to have given Professor Sprout a highlight... But then why only her? =| They should have included thestrals and giants and like what one of the members here said, centaurs!

Sorry for the long post, but I'm just really curious of how the sets will look like. As an avid fan of Harry Potter, I see it fit to at least update my collection of HP LEGO sets. However, if the new sets aren't going to live up to my expectations, then I guess I won't bother saving up for them -- even if they contain unique minifigures (the two-toned hair Narcissa would be a cool addition; she'll complete the evil that's running in the Malfoy family =D).

I do hope pictures would emerge soon. I got really excited last year when I saw the New York Toy fair exhibit photos. I think not a day had passed during that week without me staring at the displays, especially the Harry Potter ones. =)

LEGO should create more Harry Potter sets... If they can make 200+ sets for Star Wars, then why not do the same for Harry Potter? I would love to see Grimmauld Place, Malfoy Manor, a better version of the Dursely's home (Privet Drive), and the Ministry of Magic! =D

Gravatar
By in United States,

I would love all of those sets, too... Am I the only one who wants the Dursleys badly? I would also love Weasley's Wizard Wheezes, and I would definitely like a connectable extension of Hogwarts with more teachers, classrooms, and students. I would also like to see the village of Hogsmeade, complete with Honeydukes, the Three Broomsticks, and the Shrieking Shack.

Gravatar
By in Philippines,

Thanks by the way Sir Huw for this detailed report! =)

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Is the "special" minifig in SW advent calender George Lucas???? It be cool if it would be. I can see myself already play with him.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@greyface, your not the only one!! I really want a Dudley and Petunia!!!! And, legolander, i agree that the sets might not be that great, but i don't care! I'm getting a Narcissa and Sprout and Neville and possibly others!! I don't care how i get em!!! But seriously, huw, is this the last of hp??!! *worried face*

Gravatar
By in United States,

.... Pit droids with pod racers? Please tell me there's a pit droid....

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Huw, what scale was the Creator Light House at and roughly what did the set look like? Any power functions with it or figures?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That sounds like a nice line up of sets. Most likely, I'll be selling the majority of my old sets, sooner or later - I'll make a good £8,000 from them, and spend the money on the upcoming Alien Conquest sets. I've got it all worked out! :P

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Another reason I DON'T think that the special figure will be George Lucas or an extended universe character is because kids (whom it is aimed at) will not know who the random new charcters are and if it were George Lucas then they'd probably just use him as a smelly old man figure. :D

Gravatar
By in United States,

To anyone who saw the alien conquest sets, I'd like to know, are the blasters used by the Defenders one piece? If so, is it a new piece and does it look like the Lego Universe Daredevil Flaregun Rank 3? (http://legouniverse.wikia.com/wiki/Daredevil)
If they do, this might hint at future LU minifigures to come...

Any answers would be appreciated THANKS!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Nicholi- Darth Vader's apprentice has appeared in 2 books, Force Unleashed 1 and 2, so it can't be him. I have no clue who it would be...

@Erex Sweeher- From the images that I saw, there were no pit droids in the podrace set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@krysto2002 from the images I saw; yes they are one piece, and the blasters do look very similar to the Lego Universe Flaregun Rank 3.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Alien Conquest looks AWESOME! Gotta save more moneys!:)

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I want Hill House from the Creator line. I may pick up a PoC impulse set if they end up having one. I only want the mini-figures. The Mersk train looks amazing but will probably be too expensive for me. I like LEGO Space stuff but the new City-Space collection is uninspiring. I'll probably wait for better photos of Alien Conquest before making a decision but I'm strongly considering that theme.

Gravatar
By in United States,

awesome star wars setsbeen saving up but maybe i dant have enough to buy everything, should i get the darth maul set?

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

I absolutely cannot wait for minifigures series 5 too - a boxer with gloves and head guard, a gladiator, clown with bowler hat and pie, detective/Sherlock Holmes, Cleopatra, cavewoman, royal guard, and lizard/dinosaur-suit guy! :) This is definitely going to be an expensive year.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Everyone who is asking if Harry Potter will stop.
1. Huw wouldn't know
2. Yes there might be a chance we went see it for a while bcos of the movies having all been released
3. However Im sure that eventually we will see them again :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hey can you tell us more about the Hero Factory 3.0
I have a few questions
1. Do any of the villains use the same helmets?
2.Do the villains have new heads not masks/helmets but heads?
3. Do any of the sets have new body designs?
4. Any new armour?
5. Lastly, can you do a full description of Fangz and Scorpio?
Thanks

Gravatar
By in United States,

Somehow I doubt he looked ever too closely at the Hero Factory 3.0 sets, based on his description, sadly.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

@ Huw - Thank goodness for that. I'll definitely have to get them all now...

Gravatar
By in United States,

darthgiggtygoo (and anyone worried about HP ending)-You're probably right about that, but even if no new sets are released, I believe they will remain on the shelves for a couple of years due to 10217 Diagon Alley.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@spency13 - well, duh. I forgot. whoops

Gravatar
By in United States,

Being so ecstatic about hp, i forgot to say that the Alien Conquest sounds cool. I don't know where i can put them in my room though!!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Huw, do you know how the abduction function works? I'm intrigued by it.

Gravatar
By in Mexico,

Hey HP Fans, let me remind u a few things:
1. Huw is not very familiar with the HP plot and characters, so imo it's time to consider this and wait for appropiate description of the sets...he has given us very fair elements to keep us discusing the matter =)
2. Both Forbidden Forest and Battle of Hogwarts sets are a preview to what we'll see in the movies, i was really hoping to see ghosts, house elves, centaurs, thestrals, hipogriffs, giants, dementors, acromantulas and all these fantastic creatures/characters that appear in the battle, but... it will all depend on two things:
a. The Movie. We haven't seen any DH2 image or spoken reference to all these magical creatures, and we all
are aware that dear David Yates loves to cut off things so important like Dumbledore's Funeral and the
Prince's Flight from HP6. Now, yesterday my sis found an interview with Heyman in which they are not
bringing back ghosts for the battle, but only for one of the horcruxes plot, which i will not spoil in here.
b. Taking that on account, for merely commercial logic we can expect no magical creatures in Lego sets, but
only minifigs, and also in this basis we would only see key characters for that particular scenarios
(forest&battle) like Voldemort and Harry, and maybe some new ones like Sprout or Neville. Nevertheless i
find really useful these sets not for its minifigs but for the chances to recreate the entire Hogwarts
scenario...a proper entrance, a more big forest, all along with the previous HP sets released since year 1
(that's because i own all the 4 castles =] but chances of making this even if u just began collecting them is
awesome!!)
p.s. Yes, i agree with most of u that we need other sets/scenarios in Lego =)

Gravatar
By in United States,

@gusmoore, i agree. I've figured it out, though. The BFH set will be based on the battle scene before Snape *spoiler!* dies. You know, when Harry is trying to find the professors and warn them of the upcoming battle. With this is mind, i've concluded that there will be no Tonks, Lupin or Kingsley in this set, because they appear after Snapes death. So, don't expect anything other then professors and students in the BFH set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@all HP fans, especially spency13 - don't count on them not being included. Sprout, the only minifigure besides Harry, Hagrid, Ernie Prang, Stan Shunpike, and Narcissa Malfoy whom we know almost with certainty are going to be in the sets - appears later in the battle as well.

I think the end is near for Harry Potter, due to several occurences.
1. The end of the films. The end of the tie-in and the end of major interest by kids.
2. The darker tone of the latest films. They fall in the 12+ age group, probably, and LEGO's primary target age group is 7-11.
3. The new Harry Potter Visual Dictionary. I know, this one doesn't seem like a sign, but it could be commemorating the end of a successful theme; a last good-bye collectible for fans.
4. Similarly, the appearances of much-wanted characters such as Sprout and Narcissa Malfoy are almost definite signs. Very few kids interested in LEGO's will really want Professor Sprout or Malfoy or Argus Filch in their collection. But fans have been clamoring for them for years. It seems to me that these sets are aimed at the collectors, as a final salute.
5. The failure of the new sets (sales-wise.) This one is largely due to #2 on my list, and to the fact that stores like Target and TRU have either been stocking them too little or too late. Indeed, when somebody I know asked a Target sales representative about the HP sets, which hadn't been in stock for awhile, they responded that they were trying to make the sets eBay-worthy exclusives.

I think LEGO will make these sets, perhaps one or two more (an extension of Hogwarts perhaps, another big set or something else) and a few months later quietly announce the sad end of the HP theme.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@greyface, i pray not....but i sadly agree. Everything you said sounds a good reason for hp to stop. But who knows! If star wars could last so long, why can't hp?! I saw on Brickipedia that they have a complete list of figs in the 3 new sets. It goes like this:
FF: Narcissa, Harry, Voldemort, Hagrid
KB: Harry, Ernie, Stan
BFH: Harry, Neville, Sprout, Snape, Voldemort

That is 12 exactly....this sounds all right, but i hope there's more in the battle for hogwarts set... I bet this isn't final, but idk....

Gravatar
By in United States,

@spency13 - But what is Brickipedia's source? And I hope that's not it, that's only five new characters for me! I think, though, that there are going to be two or three more sets in late 2011 or early 2012 before the theme dies.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Sorry! I just checked and brickipedia had to take it down because it didn't have sources. Good for us! I hope that means more new figs!! ;) @greyface, how do you know there will be more?!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Oh, this is just a guess! No sources there, either...

Gravatar
By in Australia,

quote from eurobricks - "I heard there would be 2 to 3 more hp sets either at the end of 2011 or the beginning of 2012, before the theme ends."
I am asking him for his sources but still if you think about it it does seem that there could be a possibility of it

Gravatar
By in United States,

@darthgiggitygoo, lol! I said that! I said that hearing it from greyface! But, i think it will happen.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I doubt you'll see this Huw, but I have a simple question, concerning the new Kingdoms sets, will the Dragon Knights continue to abuse the same Mini-Figure Head Print or are we finally going to see something new for them?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

@Odeinoichus, of what iv seen it does look like their headpieces will be the same, however that is from observing prelim pics, however MOST likely they will be the same
However dont let that be a let down as each set looks amazing

Gravatar
By in United States,

@spency13 and darthgiggitygoo - this is just a guess on my part, I think that (if they are going to such lengths to please fans at the end of the run) they will give us something more, perhaps one more exclusive, before the theme dies.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@greyface, i agree. I mean, hp is very succesful, after all. It's not like there not making any money off of the sets!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@spency13 - Well, there has been a decrease in this batch's sales, but it is still, of course, good money.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@greyface, even so, i have hope that hp will live on!

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

are the new jedi minifigures cool?

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

This will be a disaster! ... for my wallet..

I usualy pick up most of the smaller and some of the bigger Creator sets.. if not for the model itself, at least for the parts..

Pirates, Alien Conquest,.. still to see what they actually will look like, but the leaked images were promising.
I guess that at least I'll pick up the smaler POTC sets and most of the AC.. (I love old style scifi)

The 2nd wave of Star Wars.. the first wave, except some minifigs, I found a bit meh.
But since I missed the former releases of the Falcon and the Sith Infiltrator, they will be a sure buy.
As well as the Podracers (have the old one but was never realy convinced by it), the Ewok attack (a nice complement to the Battle of Endor)
and the Geonosian fighter (though not sure it will surpass the original one..)

Furthermore the Pharaos who are just being released here..
A nice solace for the loss of Indiana.(in fact I just started trying to get some Adventurers stuff on Bricklink/Ebay)

And Atlantis.. last years didnt tempt me that much, to Technic and I am not realy fond of all the black creatures.
This years release is a lot more appealing to me.. just picked up the temple, and I am almost sure the rest will follow.
(a bit off topic, but now LEGO released this Atlantis temple, the hoplite/spartan etc... what about an ancient Rome/Hellas theme? or, if it has to be licensed: Trigan Empire?)

The City-Space sets are seriously in the running for draining whatever might be left of the budget..
or... should I use it on Ninjago?.. apart from the ugly vehicles and dragons some sets do look nice..
and.. wait... true,... Minifigs series 4&5 are comming too??? Help!!!

Maybe the best to do first is getting a couple of 7279's... The money bills and the ATM cashmachine it brings will be more then needed :-)

Gravatar
By in Australia,

i hope in the battle of hogwarts set there will be grawp

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love cities and the city theme...but floating boats...that is super lame. Thats like one huge brick that you cant use for anything. Lame, Lame, I guess I'll have to wait and see the sets to determine if they are even worth it. I was hoping for pieces in the hulls again. I had high hopes for the fishing boat and I would hope they could spur from it with more realistic harbor ships and boats...like a tug. Anyway. Rant Out

Gravatar
By in Canada,

> and one of the figs has not appeared in any of the films, books, cartoons and is unlikely ever to. But to say more would spoil the surprise...

So... it's a character from the games? Excuse me while I wildly speculate. HK-47? Mandalore Ordo? ...Darth Revan?
