Spider-Man minifig gallery finished already

Posted by ,

Thanks to my wife having the hairdresser round yesterday morning (if you have a wife or girlfriend you'll know how long that takes!) and then a football (soccer) match on the TV featuring one of our local teams (Southampton) on Sky Sports yesterday which she was glued to, I had some time to photograph the Spider-Man figs which you can now see in all their glory in the Spider-Man minifig gallery.

in 2002 when he first made an appearance, Spider-Man sets were a sub-theme of Studios, along with dinosaurs, werewolves, vampires and various other movie characters. Spider-Man became a theme in its own right in 2003, and continued in 2004. It was therefore right across the old grey/yellow head / new grey/flesh head boundary.

The Studios sets contained minifigs which BrickLink considers to belong to other themes, so these are not included in the gallery, and neither are figures from the 4Juniors sets.

By in Australia,

I actually never knew this, but i bought the Spider man set 4852 and it said it was made in Korea! :(

By in Ireland,

Great pictures Huw! I always thought it was a pity that the theme came to an end after Spider-Man 2, I would have loved to see some sets from Spider-Man 3, and in particular, figures like Venom and Sandman, they would have been amazing! I wonder if they'll ever re-launch the theme, with the new movie in production and all.

By in Australia,

@Huw - Could you please make a Star Wars Mini-fig Gallery :), I mean i know it's a overwhelming amount of Mini-figures. And maybe you could do a Star Wars Creature Gallery perhaps. Anyway just some suggestions.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Great pictures! What would be the next theme? Star Wars? ;-)
Or maybe Atlantis or Adventurers or Spongebob or Vikings ... There are many themes to choose from, but I think you don't have all the minifigs or enough time.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love these Minifigure Galleries!! Keep em coming. Throw a Star Wars one at us!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Nice job!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Castle Fantasy would be a cool theme for a gallery - Knights, Wizards, Dwarves and Trolls! =D

Gravatar
By in Spain,

Great Job again!!!

Gravatar
By in Italy,

Great job! And pretty fast!
I hope The Star Wars Minifig Gallery will come out soon!

Gravatar
By in Italy,

There are actually lots of themes to chose from, not only licensed. However, I think the licensed should be prioritized. They are a bit more known.

By in United Kingdom,

Likely candidates for the next galleries are Aquazone (original series), Western, post classic space, Vikings, fantasy era Castle, Exo-Force, collectable minifigures.

I will be doing Star Wars but not yet, for reasons that will be come apparent later in the year.

Gravatar
By in Mexico,

My votes go fantasy era or post classic space. is it just me or the minifig list for space is a bit a mess?
Anyway keep up the good work, it´s such a better way to look at minifigs=)

I wish my wife would occupy herself for hours at a time on the weekends...oh, yeah, the Legos! Great work once more. Thanks for all your efforts.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Absolutel outstanding! These galleries are amazing, and I appreciate the work you put into them. As a humble suggestion, I wonder if it would be possible to make a minifigure accesory gallery. I know it would take a LONG time for it to be made, but wouldn't it be cool to see every accesory in creation listed?

By in Germany,

Great job Huw! *Rolls eyes* Your wife is a football fan?... :P Sounds so... strange. :P

Gravatar
By in Germany,

BTW, a bit off-topic, but interesting: On 24th January, Brickset got 5 million page views! :) GO BRICKSET! :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^ That's page views over a 30 day period and on the 24th that's the highest it's ever been. That's an average of c.161,000 a day.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Huw, there are two Huws in the "Online Now" list! :P

Gravatar
By in United States,

Do spongebob, huw!! It'll be easy!! But, great job on all the galleries.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looks great but you can't make out the hands of the ambulance driver.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^White on white, what do you expect :-)

^^^ On my PC and iPad at the same time, while reassembling the Western figs for the next gallery...

Gravatar
By in Germany,

@Huw: YAY! :) WESTERN! :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

time cruisers would be easier than sponge bob, not even a year out!
star wars I bet will take some time, and always updating.
Great job on the lighting, and keeping the setup the same, great work!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Thanks for the awesome new Spider Man gallery Huw! I really like this one, and the photography is brilliant. :-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Thanks for the great work Huw! I will be eagerly awaiting the Western minifig gallery. It is one of my most favorite themes. Bummer I only bought 3 of the sets while they were out. I never was too interested in the Native sets and now I regret passing them up. Keep up the great work!

By in Canada,

@starwars17:whats wrong with that? :|
Thank you huw for doing this, I can't wait for future pictures.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Awsome galleries. I'm looking forward to see the next minifig galleries. :-)
Did you check out my galleries on my website? It's called www.klokriecher.de.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Cool gallery, thanks!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Collectible minifigs would be a cool one. Maybe if you do a SW gallery, you could do only certain episodes at a time. Or have other people do some of the other episodes.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Huw - are these going to be updated? Like when the new Harry Potter sets come out, will you update those?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Huw, are you telling me that you have ALL of the minifigures in these gallerys? then i would know you are the real LEGO guru.

Gravatar
By in United States,

You are missing the 1376 set from the Spiderman figure list. The figure is the same as the one used for 4853, 4854, 4855, 4856, 4857 which means its first appearance is actually 2002.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@wiredforsound - That Spiderman figure is the same as in 4851 and 4852. However, it should be it's own figure since it comes with a neck bracket.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

@CeroKnight
It's meant to be made in Denmark, Hungary, Sweden, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, China, Mexico or the Czech Republic :(

Gravatar
By in United States,

With the release of Universe, its long long LONG overdue for the return of the Doc Ock tentacle backpack thing. which must be where it debuted i guess...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@1265 & wiredforsound: you are right: I've added that fig separately now.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Actually, the subtheme was Jurassic Park 3. Not Dinosaurs. Anyways-great job, I'm amazed that you have all those Batman figs, Spider-Man figs, Prince of Persia figs, and more.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Rockin' the figs again. Loving it.
You know, I'd love to see when you have a chance, Agents figs. The villains are excellent.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Great job with the Toy Story and Spider-Man galleries, Huw! Since you're doing mainly licensed themes at the moment, is there any chance you will be doing a Avatar minifig gallery soon?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Huw, I don't care if people don't like how the minifigs look with the white. I think you have captured them and adjusted them quite well. I would like to see the Series 3 minifig gallery with your pics. I just noticed today that there are 2 types of each for Series 3. This should be fixed as they normally come with all their equipment. Just something to slot into your plans.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^ I was wondering whether to include their 'equipment' when I do them. What's the consensus?

^^ I do hope to do all licenced themes except NBA and I won't be doing Star Wars until later in the year (a) because I don't have all the figs and (b) because of another related project I am working on.

Gravatar
By in United States,

+1 doing the "equipment" with the figs.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

@Huw - The Spider-Man minifig with neck bracket is actually from 2002, not 2003, because the set itself is from 2002 :)

Why not NBA? They're pretty unique minifigs I think :) Lots of them :P

Also, I'm against adding the equipment to the Collectible Minifigs - The minifig is a minifig, while the minifig with equipment is a set, I think :)

Another thing is: the links to the minifigs you've already done in the 'Galleries featuring photos from BrickLink' are obsolete, because they redirect to your minifig photos anyway :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^ NBA is of no interest to anyone outside the USA and I don't have the figures and have no intention of getting them. That said, if someone does have them all and can photograph them to this standard then I'd be happy to add them.

^ I agree with you re: the equipment. Including it potentially makes it difficult to photograph them to the same size and standard as the others (think fishing rod)

^ I've left the galleries featuring photos from BrickLink links in place because even though they no longer show the BrickLink images (so I guess should be renamed) they do show an alternative view of the figs and sets which some may find useful still.

By in United States,

So... What's next? Western?
