The Tumbler: Joker's Ice Cream Surprise

An anonymous reader has sent us pictures of the new Batman sets. They look sweet, particularly the tumbler, which to fans of the recent movies, is probably the most recognisable Batman vehicle.

Woah! Sweetness! I say that it's about time TLC has decided to make the batmobile from the most recent movie. That one was sooooooo awsome!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Awesome! it looks sweet! I'm so getting it

Devious! I've wanted Joker for ever!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Tumbler looks really cool! I've always wanted joker like silverdagger7 has said. The Batbuggey: Mr.Freeze's escape considering the fact it will be around $10.00 and it comes with Mr.Freeze which is only found in one set and is pretty rare. Harley Quinn's truck looks nice and well done. I might buy the tumbler or The Batbuggey for Mr.Freeze.

By in United States,

Does anyone know what hair Robin comes with in the submarine set? I have seen different pics; one with wavy hair and one with standard male hair.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Finally the badguys have something to steal unlike the first batman sets!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nice sets, I might get some!

By in New Zealand,

What? Can no one say that they haven't seen these sets before? Don't they ring a bell? I've seen this before from the toy fair pics. And yeah, they are okay.

By in Canada,

i agree with you lego12 and i read youre profile and you said you were looking for the name of a set i think it was ,Spider's Secret , in the jungle theme of adventures , the new batman sets look a lot better than the first thou i have never bought them because i was more intrested in exo force how much does the batmobile cost

Flick missiles are the worst kind. The best are the technic ones where you just have to push slightly on a lever and a big thing comes out quickly. Violence and lego is good, but lego's reccommended ages on the front of the box are different to what the ratings for the movies are: The Episode II and III are rated M for over 15. Lego's ages from those movies are 8-12. I don't get lego's logic. Violence is cool, most star wars lego is based around violence anyway, in some way or another. Unless you don't think that expensive bits of plastic fighting other expensive bits of plastic is violent, then you are fine. Adding to doctorwho/'s comment, I have a big plank made out of lego attatched to the top of my bunk bed, and it has lego ropes coming down from it. Minifigs will surely die from the fall.

Thank you ever so much whoever deleted those comments.

No, I'm sure that these sets were from the toy fair, well at least the set in the top of the article. I remember reading "The Joker's Ice Cream Surprise" and I also want the Joker minifig.

By in United States,

I agree with Luke Skytalker thank you ever so much whoever deleted those comments. The sets look neat and well-done. Thanks for helping doctowho/ but it wasnt the set that you thought it was (Spider's Secret). I think it was adventurers desert theme....but I can't find it on this site.

WHY ARE ALL THE COOL SETS OVERPRICED?!?!?! I want the Joker, but not for $50!
*so sad* >_<

Gravatar
By ,

Wo, that set looks sweet. Like Colonel Graff, I want the joker =). Sadly, the set is way overpriced =(.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Harley Quinn's truck would look SOOOO much better without that stupid huge hammer on the side. I really love the tumbler and bike!

WELCOME TO BRICKSET!!! To post reviews, find the set on this website, and on the left under the rating, click "Review this set" which will take you to a page where you can choose what you want to rate 1 to 5, 5 being the best of course. Write a title, and then the review! Click submit, and it will say "Thankyou for taking the time to write a review. It will appear once it has been checked by a moderator."

Hope that helps! And once again, Welcome to Brickset!!!!

Hello AngryBullDisease. I think Fighter has successfully described how to reveiw, but I would just like to say that if you take too long writing it then it will say you are not logged in when you try to post, however you can just press back and hopefully it has not gone (like my old MTT reveiw!) and then you can copy and paste. Also, to qnser your other question we can be pretty certain that no one is making a minifig scale death star, as the minifig scale Falcon was about 90 cm from front to back whereas it is way, way, way smaller than the death star. A minifig scale would be bigger than your house. Actually I could probably work out how big it would be.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The joker set isn't that overpriced considering thesize of the tumbler and besides everything goes up in price eventually

Gravatar
By in United States,

Siverdagger, the sets are expensive cause there's more in the set than just minifigs.

Gravatar
By ,

Hey Fighter95 and Luke Skytalker! Thanks for the info(although I wish they were making a minifig scale death star)!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Are these sets for the upcoming movie?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

no I don't think so

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's funny how every news article ends up being about the summer 2008 star wars sets :D I do suggest we get back on topic though. I actually have never seen batman, the only set that ever looked interesting to me was the batwing, which I might buy, but the new sets do not interest me much.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The new Batman sets have their ups and downs.
The new Harley Quinn fig is awesome. Her jeep is pretty cool too.
The Bat Cycle is a nice little build.
The Tumbler looks great even though I am not a fan of that particular rendition of the Batmobile.
The Joker Ice Cream truck looks cute but needs more purple/lime green parts. Do we really need more white parts? The Joker's colors are purple and green, I think LEGO missed out on a chance to add more color to this set and to our brick stash.
The Mr. Freeze set is absolutely a juniorized set (which is OK because it gives kids a chance to take part in the Batman-LEGO fun).
The Robin scuba jet at first seems too similar to the Batcave set but the Penguin sub is different and the Scuba Jet is very different than the Robin SkiJet from the Batcave set.

As for the previous series of Batman LEGO sets, every single 1 of the 1st wave was awesome. Arkham Asylum, the Batcave, the Batmobile and Two Face, the Batwing and the Joker, the Batboat and Killer Croc. The Bat Dragster was weak but the Cat Woman and purple motorcycle were not. The 2nd wave included the Bat Tank which kicked but however I didn't care for the Bat Copter and Scare Crow.

The set I am looking forward to buying the most is the Harley set.
Here are the prices of each:
7884 Batman's Buggy: Escape of Mr. Freeze 9.99
7885 Robin's Scuba Jet: Attack of the Penguin 19.99
7886 The Batcycle: Harley Quinn's Hammer Truck 29.99
7888 The Tumbler: Joker's Ice Cream Surprise 49.99

All of these sets are slated for a June release according to LEGO. These sets range in price from cheap to semi expensive and from juniorized detailing to more intricate building as seen in the Tumbler.

Now if DC and LEGO could get together on an entire DC Universe line to include other prominent characters from the DCU, that would be awesome! Supes, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Lex, Sinestro, etc. I wonder if anyone has had any contact with LEGO concerning this idea? If so, I'd love to know what their response was.

I hope this line of Batman does well so that LEGO and DC will continue their partnership. Gotta go, the Bat Signal is calling me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow, that's the longest comment I've ever seen, but thanks for the info! :D

Gravatar
By in Philippines,

Well I dont really like the tumbler for some reason. But I do like the other Batman sets. And oh I forgot, when are they realesed

Gravatar
By ,

Yes, I realize there are more than just minifigs in these sets, Leggodt. Its just unfortunate that the "man" got into the LEGO Co. and now most sets (the ones with other things than minifigs) are ridiculously overpriced. Money doesn't grow on trees where I come from...unfortunately.

On topic though: I want Harley Quinn and Joker and Robin, but not their vehicles.
Cool sets anyway, I'm glad to see that TLC is making better pieces.

By in Ireland,

Those pics quite old now but still I can't wait for them I really want the tumbler and the new batman.

Gravatar
By in United States,

In my opinion, these sets look better than the previous Batman sets, particularly Harley's Truck and The Joker/bat tumbler set.

Harleys truck seemed silly first time I saw it but now it looks rather nice. You could just turn it into a moster truck if you like. and I believe that bat-cycle appears in The Dark Knight.

I love the ice cream truck. The price might seem expensive but remember, The Joker is gonna be in The Dark Knight this summer so everyones gonna want this set come July. Plus, the Joker fig by himself on bricklink is about $8 or $9.

The Mr Freeze set looks uninspired but atleast we dont have to pay much to get his fig now.

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

These new batman sets looks like to be cool, and really, better than the previous released in the batman theme. I think that none of them will be from the new movie, altough the bat tumbler looks like a movie edition, the Joker's ice cream van don't looks like to be (I have yet my doubts, but maybe this set won't). These still cool, but of course, due to the batman's name, more expensive. And now, the minifigure of Mr Freeze is more easy to get, but I'm not much interested in these.

By in New Zealand,

Cool but I know I've seen them before from the toy fair.

Gravatar
By in United States,

(the tumbler)$50.00 USD There awesome but the tumbler doesn't have the missile in the front but i still want it.
(The batcycle)$30.00 USD Looks sweet and the truck looks fun to smash stuff with (if you like doing that)
(Robin's Scuba Jet)$20.00 USD looks nice and some cool colors. the Penguin's sub looks cool and has a missile in the back also some room inside it.
(The Batbuggy)$10.00 USD the only reason i want this is you get Mr. freeze for $10 bucks

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think the Batbuggy looks as lame as the Bat dragster, but I'll be glad to have a vehicle for Mr. Freeze even if this one isn't nearly as cool as the one the have for Catwoman.

I think Robin's Suba jet is just okay. I really like the colors, and tt's a little more substantial than the jet ski from the Batcave. I’m still undecided on the Penguins swamp thing. I thought the submarine in the Batcave set was pretty cool. I really love the little penguin henchmen. I think they are super clever.

I don't think the Batcycle is as lame as the buggy or the dragster, but almost. Harley Quinn's truck is really cool. I wonder if that hammer really works?

I think the tumbler looks really tough. I loved Batman Begins, and I'm sure this was inspired by that, but I don't like the ice cream truck. I'll be glad to add another Joker henchman to my collection, but I prefer the Joker's helicopter. The ice cream truck just doesn't look much like an ice cream truck, to me.

I can't say why all the "cool" sets are overpriced, but I can speculate that all the licensed themes are overpriced because LEGO has to share the price with someone else. In this case LEGO pays a fee to DC comics. It might be interesting to test that hypothesis. I could do a cost per piece for licensed and unlicensed themes and see what happens.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well, jason, that's gona be really difficult because there is a lot of estimating in the priceing and pieceing of lego sets, and you never know if it goes up or down.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

onestly i dont like any of the batman sets they arnet designed very well and look flimsy

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

That's interesting, you guys say that the cool sets are overpriced, but have you considered the pricing of the uncool sets? I think lego don't do it piece to price, but just guess what might be a good price. Really we are to think that the good sets are overpriced, yet if an uncool set is the same price it must maintain the same quantity of lego, but not quality? I'm getting confused anyway. I don't want these.

Gravatar
By in United States,

That's how I do it too! The armored drilling unit is an example of an overpriced one. 635 pieces...600...10%...should be $59.99 in my opinion. My friend has it and it is really small for 80 dollars!

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Yeah, but look at the Hailfire and Spider Droid set, which has about a hundred more pieces than Anakin's Starfighter, they are actually both at the same price. That is mainly because the pieces in the Hailfire Droid are really small and some in Anakin's are biggish. I do it that way too, Leggodt, but because of the currency differences I times it by two.

Gravatar
By in United States,

You have to consider rounding, skytalker. Not everything is gona be even.

Gravatar
By ,

LEGO can't make every super hero. The only reason Batman is being made is because Batman has the vehicles. Spider Man and Spider Man 2 didn't do well because there weren't any cool vehicles. It's the same reason we will get 10 of the same Star Wars ships, the vehicles sell, the play sets don't.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I would love to see a Gotham police station playset. And Gotham City bank too.

Gravatar
By in United States,

maybe a spider man theme based on that new show the spectacular spider man, justice league sets, and a new pirates theme would be nice.
Back on topic, the ratings I would give would be :batbuggy a 3,penguin's sub a 4,the batcycle and tumbler would be a 5.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Out of all the new ones, the tumbler looks like the only one I might buy, along with the batwing. So far those are the only two batman sets that look good to me :D I still think they should make LEGO Star Trek! That would be extremely cool!!!!

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Yeah, I once tried to make a batwing out of my piece collection. The only batman set I have is the big collector's batmobile. Star trek would also be a very cool lego theme. Hopefully something like that will replace the star wars contract.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Also, a lot can happen between now and 2011.Maybe some awsome movie or TV show comes out and is popular. As for the batman sets, I hope lego releases another set based on the film with Joker since I don't want to waste $50.00 on the Tumbler

Gravatar
By in United States,

i would spend $50.00 on the tumbler. but if everybody wants the joker mini fig why don't they come out with a joker magnet set??

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was imagining a Joker Magnet set would include Batman,Joker and Harley.I am also hoping for an Indy magnet set.

Gravatar
By ,

The Joker already was in a magnet set, they need Poisen Ivy to be in one.

Gravatar
By ,

I think TLC should make a minifig set of the Batman minifigures. WITHOUT MAGNETS!! I hate magnets...

> Silverdagger7

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have to agree with you Silver Dagger 7.But I think that won't happen because of their contract. That's a reason why TLC minifigures by themselves.

Gravatar
By ,

The Bat-Cycle looks really stupid. Good thing I made a custom.

Gravatar
By ,

Hasve you seen the Bat-Cycle from the new movie? The LEGO version is spot on, it's just the movie version is ugly.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

is harly quinn from the new movie or just the tv show/comics????

Gravatar
By in United States,

well ,the batcycle will appear in the movie so maybe harley is from the new movie.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ok, who is Harley Quinn, and when do these sets come out exactly? I just saw a commercial for the upcoming movie so I'm kinda getting interested.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

i didnt really see a clear shot of the batcycle in the movie trailer

Gravatar
By in United States,

Huh, I did! It looked AMA'ZU'ZING!!!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

i mean i didnt really see the front any way batman isnt that great,at least lego batman the movie is alright

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

"Because the Council did not trust you, my young apprentice, I believe you are the only Jedi with no knowledge of this plot."

I'm not a real fan of Batman, as I have only seen the first movie. Superhero movies kickstarted from the X-men from 2000, which by the way I have not seen. There now seems to be more and more of them and what I am saying is that I cannot keep up with the plot of Batman. It was just the other day that I saw a new movie trailer for something called Ironman, which did look pretty cool. Hopefully the new movies will stimulate the need for new minifigs or something, that would be good.

Gravatar
By ,

Batman being my favourite comic hero; I am dissapointed with the Bat-Buggy and the Bat-Cycle.

The Bat-Cycle looks wicked cool in the comics; as well as the new movie. Not in Lego, unfortunately.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

"These visions you have..." (Yoda)

I just saw the trailer for the new movie and it looks pretty good, but I could only see the front of the BatCycle, but it only looked like a fat wheel and a pair of handlebars.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

i think after the new movie lego batman should be destroyed , but thats just my opinion , though the new movies are pretty cool and the joker actually looks like a crimminal

Gravatar
By ,

The Bat-Cycle isn't in the movie trailer, it was something I was watching about the movie. It was on E.T. a few weeks ago. Just type in "bat cycle" into google and you will see it.

And Harley Quinn is the side kick of The Joker, but I don't know if she is in the movie. Legally the LEGO Batman sets aren't supposed to be based on the two movies, but on everything else. I guess LEGO find a way to get around that with the Bat-Cycle and the new Bat-Car thing.

And Super Hero movies have been popular for years, but they come in cycles. Superman was the 70s, batman was the 80s and early 90s. Then the Batman movies took a turn for the worst and super hero movies died. Now they are back most likely because the movie companies can't think of anything else to make.

Gravatar
By in N/A,

The Tumbler looks awesome!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

actually i dont really like it though supprisingly i rather like the batcycle,i could probnably make it into an attack cycle from command and conquer

Gravatar
By in United States,

I hope lego makes more batman sets, here are some ideas
A set with batgirl vs Poison Ivy, maybe batgirl with something like a combo of jungle cutter and batcycle
A set with nightwing vs Black Mask,a helicopter for black mask and nightwing with a cycle
A set with batman vs Ra's al Ghul, a temple with some samurais and Ducard from Batman Begins

Gravatar
By in Canada,

actualy those are pretty good ideas

Gravatar
By in United States,

Dude! why is everybody so skeptical.

Gravatar
By ,

wow I want this and the temple of the crystal skull!
