Melbourne Big W and Target (and I think most of Australia) had series 4 well over a month ago. I should have said but too busy buying them up : ) The target 20% off sale had them at $3.76 but that ended last week.

By in Australia,

My local K-mart had them two weeks ago, although they were selling it at $5 a pop...

By in Australia,

Yes, this is true. I saw them in Big W yesterday, for that price. But they didn't have many (indeed, they still had bucketloads of series 3).

I feel sorry for you Aussies, we get them for less then $3 (and that's not even considering that USD is less...)

@The Mimed One,

$3 to $5 ($5.40 USD) we can live with, as there aren't that many minifigs, but when you mention the prices of the forthcoming Pirates of the Caribbean sets, that's when you get Aussie AFOLs frothing at the mouth!

The Cannibal Escape: $29.99 in the US, $59.99 ($64.80 USD) in Australia.
The Mill: $39.99 in the US, $79.99 ($86.40 USD) in Australia.

And so it goes on. Even 20% sales can't pull the price down anywhere near the US RRP. Makes you wonder who is the bigger pirate: Johnny Depp, or LEGO Australia!

By in Australia,

The price is a joke. I've got all except the mad scientist at an average price of $3 each, but they've come all the way from BrickLink sellers in Germany. I haven't even thought of looking in the shops here. The same with series 3: I got all 16 in one lot already sorted from a well-known German BrickLinker for less than $3 each. Why mess around in the shops trying to figure out what's in each packet?

By in Australia,

I was lucky to find the series 4 minifigs at Target when they were having a 20% off sale. I think I got them for about $3.70-ish each, which was pretty good, all things considered.

I should have read ALL of the comments before scurrying off to Big W today. Series 5, Bricklink here I come.

By in Australia,

I followed suit Wolfy 8880, ordered up 10 minifigs (from Germany), and I'll probably wait around until a sale to get a couple more that I like. The prices are disgusting, for Lego across that board. Am I correct in saying that over the past 2-3 years, the range has dropped, and the prices have risen?

Yeah, I think Libya doesn't help either.

What will happen when all the Green-Necks eliminate all the gas cars?
They'll realize that there is plastic, and thus oil, everywhere on earth!

I buy plastic wrapped in more plastic every time I buy a polybag!

@Stacy -- not sure about the range, but the price has definitely got up in leaps and bounds.

Sets are more expensive than they were, even ten years ago. Never mind about prices from the 80s and 90s. I guess that's just normal inflation, can't be helped.

What can be helped is that they're charging Australians *twice* as much as they're charging Americans. The dollar is *better* than the American dollar, our Lego should be *cheaper* (by a significant amount). But we're still paying double.

*That's* the deal-breaker for me. It stinks.

When the MAERSK train came out, I paid $240 to get it from Lego based in NSW. I live in QLD. And I realised that it would be cheaper (and faster) if I'd purchased the set from somebody in California.

Let's think about that. It's easier, cheaper and faster to cross the largest ocean on the planet, than it is to cross the NSW/QLD state border by truck.

I really hope that somebody at TLC understands how *ridiculously absurd* that fact is. But I'm sure they don't.

By in New Zealand,

Im in NZ and the Few ive got so far have been $5 NZD, and I spent halfn hour in the store trying to find the 4 that I wanted. But for the Minifigures im not to bother paying that for them.
Its the Star Wars Lego, Which I Collect that a killer. must spend under $2000 a year on all the new sets.
but I guess thats what you do for the love of the Stuff haha
