Ages 16+. 1,322 pieces.
US $99.99, CA $129.99, DE €99.99 , UK £79.99 , DK 799 DKK, available from October.

This authentic camper van is a replica of the classic Volkswagen Camper Van from 1962. Every iconic feature is here! On the outside, the terrific detailing includes 'V' shape three-way color split at the front, rounded roof and window frames, opening 'splittie' safari windshield, opening doors, iconic pop-up roof with textile curtain surround, roof rack, rear side air intake vents and lots more! The detailing is equally impressive on the inside, from the authentic VW air-cooled flat four cylinder boxer engine, front cabin bench seat, gear stick, angled dashboard and iconic spherical speedometer, to custom LEGO® features like folding rear bench seat, folding dinette table, closet with mirror and even a painting!

  • Features 11 windows, authentic plaid-print textile curtains and wing mirror!
  • Rear door opens to reveal detailed engine!
  • Interior also features rear bench seat that transforms into a bed, ‘Make LEGO Models, Not War’ T-shirt and rear shelf with plant!
  • Measures 11.8" (30cm) long and 5.5" (14cm) high!

Visit the set details page for photos of the interior, which looks excellent. The video on YouTube has been available for some time but if you have't seen it it's worth a look.

October's going to be an expensive month. Much like the rest of the year then!

Quite a good price I think, can not wait :)

By in Canada,

Id would like an explaination at to why we are paying, consistently, that more for sets than the Americans when our dollar has been stronger for quite some time. Either way im getting one of those!

This looks fantastic, probably the best bodywork on a vehicle I have seen! The inside also looks wonderful, all the features of the traditional camper van are there, brilliant!

By in United States,

Great great great great great great price! I cannot wait to get this.
Edit: I just saw that the rear shelf has a plant. Probably weed?

Other countries pay more because of simple economies of scale. America is cheap - it's cheap to distribute, cheap to transport, low taxes, virtually no import tariffs, and fixed costs of operation spread over a larger population base. If one thinks the price difference in LEGO is bad, you don't want to know how cheap a Mercedes-Benz or BMW is in the U.S.

bit naive some of these responses.

America pays less because it's strategically the most important market for Lego.

Lego really have done a fantactic job with this model, and the designer fully deserves his initials on it. This will sell really well, and the price is resonable, great job. This will definetly be part of my collection. I would love to see more classics cars and vans like this in the future.

By in Australia,

Is there any idea on Australian pricing yet? Curios to see what mark-up Lego give us this time. The UCS Star Destroyer just released is about $700 AUD (almost double US price) so I'm guessing about $400 south of the equator.

Really pleased with the UK price, I had this down as a £99.99 set. Very pleased to be proved wrong.

By in Australia,

@TimBurdon Its more likely ~$200. Doulbe the US price judging by the comparisions I have been doing. I know it doesnt make much sence, but if you take into account the European price and the exchange rate, its not that bad.

I don't normally go for this kind of set but the designer has done such a superb job that I am considering getting one. I think it was the fully-detailed interior complete with lava lamp that sold me. :D
That's even funnier than the coffeemaker in that one Power Miners vehicle.

@goldfish..
Ding ding ding....You win the prize for answering the question on why the US market pays less for Lego toys. Cheers!

By in Canada,

I like it. But since I didn't buy the beattle I'd feel silly buying this model.

Oh well... if only I'd known.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

I would be happy just to get that VW-brick on the front of the van.

By in United Kingdom,

This is a fantastic set, which I was going to buy at any price But really pleased with the UK price

By in United States,

Am I the only one who really hopes the "Make Lego models, Not War" shirt is a minifigure torso?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Very happy with the price!!! Not super ridiculously inflated like the other licensed products.

And the build is quite impressive, I think it looks better than the beetle. I almost wish they would have made a red or white beetle instead of the blue that they released. Even better is if they had made different colors of the beetle and the van so that collectors/builders can make a complete set. Another idea would be to have different variations of the van like the surfer versions, hippy versions, etc. Now that would have been cool.

Actually impressed by the 99.99 USD price for a set with 1300+ parts.. I may pick up a few of these

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Massively suprised by the price £80means this will be a massive seller.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

My family are definately getting this for Christmas :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Great set, great price. Straight to the top of my want list. I still wish the colour was a rarer type than red. Might the red/white combination be a reason for the price? Would it be more expensive had it been dark red instead of red?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@TBOC if you watch the video you will find out that the t-shirt is not a minifigure torso

By in United States,

This model looks like an exquisitely designed beauty, especially the interior, but I may have to pass on it in favor of saving my money and not splurging on every nice-looking set. Anybody else have trouble choosing between the Frigate, the Falcon, and a model like this?

By in United States,

I'm not usually into "designer" sets like this...but even I must admit this is pure awesomeness. I now know 1 thing I am definitely asking for X-mas.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Very hip! I was wondering when lego was going to do the vw van. I'm definately buying one, no make that two - from the states! :D

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Gravatar
By in Australia,

in australia.......dont forget if it only available on Lego website ......it will cost us extra $40.00 delivery & need to wait 13 business days .................or extra $90.00 if want it come in 6 business day

total cost is...... lucky price at $169 +$40
or.......$199 +$40

...just see that super star destroyer is $699.99....................

Gravatar
By in United States,

Can it be (almost) minifigure scale?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Really nice set. Let's just hope that the mentioned price isn't a mistake... ;)

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

@Dimefield - LEGO sets are priced based on what a specific market will pay for it. I live ~75min driving from LEGO HQ and the prices of LEGO sets here in Denmark are about the highest in the world... The mentioned price in DKK is about 155 USD/151 CAD. So stop whining ;)

By in United States,

I'm lovin' it.

By in Australia,

is this set to minifig scale?
