Here are the latest LOTR posters direct from LEGO. I read on Eurobricks that the LOTR microsite at LEGO.com is now live, but there's not much on it yet.

Is it just me or does Gollum look really wrong, I think they could have just used a regular minifig body and short legs, then a new moulded head. Anyone agree?

But apart from that slight let down, I think the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit sets will be fantastic!

By in France,

The Orcs are really good ! ( even if they look more like goblins ... ) And the fellowship is just brilliant !

By in Belgium,

I'm very impressed with all figs, except Gollum, his arms and legs look a bit weird.

By in United Kingdom,

I'm impressed with them all. Gollum is a lot thinner than all the other characters and is generally hunched over most of the time. I think they have translated him pretty well into brick form. I will say that his arms dont look quite right, they look too stiff & straight compared to the rest of the body.

Boromir is the least like the on screen character, his hair is not as red in the films. But, make it darker and people will start confusing him with Aragorn.

The Uruk-hai are my favorite figs so far. I hope they dont print generic faces for all of them.

By in Australia,

I don't think either Gollum or the Ringwraiths are supposed to look that gosh-darn cute! They totally do, though.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I love all of them except for Aragon... I don't recall Strider EVER having legs that colour...

By in United Kingdom,

Gollom looks better 'in the ABS' than in the picture. He has 3-pieces: fixed head/body and detachable arms.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I would of liked if Gollum had some very thin hair on his head, to me thats what makes him Gollum.
The orcs look quite good, they just need a different hair piece, but that should be a easy swap!
^^^Zordboy
I think the Ringwraiths look quite good, I just think they should have a different torso

By in United Kingdom,

Boromir looks better here- less blue than the last pictures? Gollum looks totally and suitably demented and its better to vary things from the films slightly. All very welcome, top banana.

By in Norway,

I`m somewhat looking forward to this theme. There is only one thing - I`m afraid that this theme will replace the CASTLE for some time. We saw that before with the PIRATES and the Pirates of the Caribbean I think. I have some licensed sets (mostly StarWars) but most of my collection consists to the Lego Classic-type themes. Anyway, new figs looks excellent.

By in United Kingdom,

The uruk-hai looks immense. I can see people massively army building those. I'm sure gollum will look fab in real life, I always find the cgi figs with their twisting and posing a bit odd. Most looking forward to seeing the new horse mould though! And guess Legolas won't have a quiver then? Which seems the only oversight.

By in United Kingdom,

as per most comments. Really impressed with them all apart from Gollum, that will have to grow on me. It doesn't look quite right. I would have preferred something in the style of a normal figure.

By in United States,

Alright, I don't like Gollum. Now the only set I'm actually thinking of getting is Gandalf Arrives.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Alright, since I'm a huge fan of Lotr so Ill probably get most of them when they come out.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Yeah, I can't really pinpoint exactly what but something's definitely feels "off" with Gollum.

My personal favourites would have to be the hobbits. They look so spot-on in every single way.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Wow! Wonderful! The minifigures looks veeeryyyy good! Mainly the Uruk-Hai and Gollum are very nice! And the haircuts of Legolas and the orcs! I can't wait!!!!!!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Gollum looks downright fantastic in the first picture... and, for some reason, really awful in the second. It doesn't even match the former beyond the basics - completely different colour to both the first picture and the actual film!Gollum, and its arms look molded straight on. Can't imagine why it's so, though - it's not like they would've used an earlier prototype of the Gollum fig for the second poster, when the first would've been done around the same time. Everything else is downright classy, though; no complaints here.

Gravatar
By in United States,

^Oh yes, I noticed that I have a 'regular' staff. :{D}

Yeah, Gandalf could have had a better staff, but I really think Gollum is quite good. He would have looked pretty awful as a normal minifig. It seems like he's done 'Sebulba style'.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I think they all look great! I wouldn't expect Gollum to be a short-legged fig anyhow, it wouldn't be true to the character. I have no doubt these sets will be awesome... saving my pennies starting now.

Gravatar
By in United States,

your all crazy... Gollum looks awesome! and I gotta have that first poster.

Gravatar
By in Greece,

I think if they're going to release pictures of the figures, they could at least release actual photographs instead of these CGI deformed models.

Gravatar
By in Mexico,

there is no quiver in legolas because his hair

Gravatar
By in United States,

hmmm... wow! love the minifigs! even though i have never ever liked lord of the rings these are awsome:)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Like the Uruk-hai and the Orcs.
Shouldn't Aragorn have a hood and cape?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Uruk-hai=<3

But really LEGO. Gandalf only gets a regular "staff"?? Come on. Guess I'll have to get a decent one from BF...

Gravatar
By in United States,

These Minifigs are amazing! I agree with voypro, Gollum is not that bad, he's supposed to be scrawny, weak and ugly. (the first picture is a little disturbing)

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is good and bad.
Good because now my brikwars and brickquest will have awesome minifigs!(and D&D) but my wallet is going to burn out this summer...
Still I hope these are made with better quality. I wonder if we start saying something or is it too late?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think Gollum's amazing. And as long as they print a loin-cloth on the BACK as well as the front, I think he'll be an exceptional figure.

Also, I think the figures almost always look way different in the pictures than they do in real life. For example, the newest version of Darth Maul looked awesome in the pictures, but when I got him, his face was just plain okay. Or Boba Fett in the newest slave I, he looks cool in the pictures, but the moment I opened the little plastic baggie that contained him, I immediately started planning our wedding (aka, he's awesome). So it's always really hard to judge just how awesome a minifig is until you can hold them in your hands and see them with your own eyes.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really like Gollem, but the poster is kinda distubing. I think my favorite has gotta be Nazgul and Aragorn.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

@Huw was there any sign of Saruman at the London toy fair?

Gravatar
By in United States,

^ If they do have a Battle of Middle Earth set, I hope they make him taller. Because he is half a head taller then a human AKA Minifig. Wait, Saruman, or Saruon? I get them confused.
Gollem does look a bit odd, but overall exceeded my expectations. He is a hard character to turn into Lego form.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Is it pretty safe to say that since Gandalf is labeled "Gandalf the Grey" we will be seeing a "Gandalf the White"? It's only a matter of time I suppose...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I loved all of these when I saw them! Until I starting reading eurobricks forum and the negativity set in....

Uruk = Awesome, only wish he had some armor printing since so many of the Kingdoms sets did
Gollum = Think they did the best they could
Ring Wraith = What more do you want? He looks fine
Orcs = Probably my favorite, they look great! even look like they have diff hair than legolas. Someone on eurobricks mentioned they don't like how it looks like they wear gloves, but I think they do...
Legolas = Looks a little incomplete without quiver or cape... but with its hair its not really possible
Boromir = Awesome, so much better than the previous pics
Aragon = Probably the worst. As a figure he looks cool, but I don't think they got the colors right to match the character...
Gandalf = Really needs more hair. The bear should have come around the back and acted as head hair under the hat. He looks off. Wish he had leg printing too
Hobbits = 2nd favorite, the likeness is amazing! The torso printing is SPOT on!
Gimli = Previous picture looked better. Beard is off, helm doesn't stand out as much. And axe is way too large. (not sure about the toso color either)

Icing on the cake would have been new molds for the swords and gandalfs staff, but I'm fine with how it is!

Well despite all my nit picking and negativity, I think overall they still look amazing, and I'll be getting them all :D

Gravatar
By in United States,

I hope Gollum isn't that yellow....... They did a really good job otherwise though. Oh and does anyone else think Gandalf should have hair behind his head too?

Gravatar
By in Mexico,

i hope there its a set with the blue sword of frodo

Gravatar
By in United States,

Gollum does look weird....

Hey, does ABS = Actual Built Set?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Gollum looks kinda stupid.... And creepy... I really think the Urk Hai are AWESOME though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Come on people! Gollum looks great. He looks like a LEGO without not looking like Gollum. I've read the Lord of the Rings books once and watched the movies several times... I would know. He looks fantastic. His colour is right, he would look stupid as a minifigure with short legs, and his arms are just fine. He comes in a $20 set! You can't beat that, can you. If you don't like the figures don't buy the sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think that gollum looks great as well skipper1011. C'mon do you really think he'd look good with a minifig torso and some short pants? No way! I'm glad they pulled the sebulba on him. He looks perfect. The poster and other picture Gollum don't look anything alike though. The expressions are different. In the poster he has a grin and in the other pic, he looks pissed off. I wonder what he will really look like..

Loving the torn cape for the ring wraiths as well. Is there any other set that has a minifig with a torn cape?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Also I've been reading some posts; how can you tell Legolas doesn't have a quiver? His head is turned. He'll have one. He obviously won't be able to turn his head like that as well because of this hair piece. No worries future LEGO LOTR collectors, they'll turn out great.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Gollum looks a bit strange.... I think this whole theme is going to be a little strange.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

they're all pretty cool, but i agree that gandalf should've had some hair, and also that aragorn looks a bit "incomplete". gollum looks okay, the hobbits are awesome, and the uruk-hai is simply great. thanks for sharing!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The only thing about Gollum which I thought could be improved is that he should have a stud on his head. But the rest looks great. Also a bit miffed about one of the major characters' absense, Saruman...

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

@itsaturkey Saruman the wizard, played by Christopher Lee in the movies. Can't wait to see him in LEGO form, probably not in this wave though, since there's been no mention of him appearing in the forthcoming sets. :(

Gravatar
By in United States,

@LukeSkywalker - Oh Ok, thanks :) I suppose they can't just use a Count Dooku head, huh? :P

Gravatar
By in United States,

Very exciting! I think Gollum will look better in ABS as Huw mentioned. The new molds look promising, I especially like the new hobbit hair.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was just on Lego Digital Designer and I found that new sword mold! I can't believe it!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I noticed that minifig legs are used for Galdalf and the ringwraith. In the movies, both of them are usually shown as wearing long robes. Should they use the sloped 2x2x2 brick (usually used for female desses on the minifig lower torso half) for Gandalf and ringwraiths instead of minifig legs? Its more true to the character if they use the sloped brick instead of legs. What does everyone else think?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Takis, I think you're right that a sloped 2x2x2 brick would look more accurate on a stationary figure! But, as far as playability is concerned for kids (...and some AFOLs!), these are characters that are involved in dynamic action scenes. Their legs allow for them to be posed in different fighting/walking poses. Also, the minifig legs allow for them to be placed on horses. This could be important, too, if we ever see a Lego LOTR video game.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Energynarrow: Ha Ha! XD Good to know :P

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think all of them look great but i do agree gollum could be better. My faviroute is possibly the Urak-hai or Merry and Pippin.
