Town Hall

LEGO has started its Easter promotions today, and the Town Hall can now be ordered, which is perfect timing given the offer includes free shipping and double VIP points.

There has also been a lot of 'gear' added to the store, although it seems most is only available in Canada at the moment. There are new Star Wars magnet sets, Ninjago accessories and a very cool storage box. See it all in the 2012 Gear listing.

In the UK:

  • Free Delivery on orders of £50 or more. Valid March 1 - 31st
  • Free Mini TIE Fighter set with purchases of £50 or more. Valid March 1 - 31st
  • Double VIP points on all purchases. Valid March 1 – 15th.

In the USA and Canada, it kicks off a bit later in the month:

  • Double VIP points on all purchases. Valid March 1 – 15th.
  • Free Shipping on orders of $75 or more. Valid March 12 - 31st
  • Free LEGO Master Builder Academy Poster with any LEGO Master Builder Academy Purchase. Valid March 12th – April 5th of While Supplies Last

Click on the big yellow 'Shop Today' image in the menu to take advantage of these offers.

By in Belgium,

As far as I can see Belgian customers have the "Free Mini TIE Fighter set" and the "Double VIP points" promotions, but I don't see anything about "Free Delivery on orders of £50 or more".

I wonder what happens when a UK customer buys something for a Belgian friend (and has it shipped there by LEGO)? Which price is charged (since prices can differ)? Are there shipping costs if the requirements for the above promotion are fulfilled?

By in United Kingdom,

I am loving the lego storage box in the Canada store. I really hope they bring that to the UK as that would be perfect for my little one (OK me as well!)

By in Canada,

^^I bought the LEGO storage box for myself a couple days ago, but as soon as we got home, my 4.5 YO quickly unpacked it, sorted his Pick-A-Brick purchases into it, hauled the whole thing off to his playroom, and I haven't been able to go near it since.

By in Switzerland,

@BJMdotLEGO I (living in Europe) consistently order through the US store and have the products shipped to the US. I pay the USD price (converted to swiss francs) and get US promotions, even though my billing address is in europe.

@ Formentar Wasn't sure about that, thanks for clearing that up

By in Sweden,

At least in Sweden, you only get the TIE Fighter if you spend at least 550 SEK (~£50) on Star Wars stuff. I bought two 10224 Town Hall shortly after midnight and that didn't trigger the TIE Fighter to be added. The double VIP points were a positive surprise, though. It's just a shame that everything (especially shipping) is so expensive compared to Amazon and other online retailers that don't follow the Swedish prices.

For those of you discussing shipping to different countries: The price, currency and language are tied to the delivery country, so you can't e.g. get the US prices without having someone in the US redistribute the goods for you. It's unfortunate that the price differences are so large that some people are able to make a profit from doing that.

By in United States,

So in the US to get both double VIP and free shipping there are only 4 days of overlap 3/12-3/15? Why don't they just overlap both for the full two weeks?

By in Ireland,

I wish they'd give us a break on postage once in a while, the last time Ireland got free shipping was for 2 days last year during the May the 4th promotion, I'd buy the town hall straight away but at €192 with shipping, it's just a little bit crazy... I'll probably still buy it anyway! :D

By in United Kingdom,

More magnet sets? Something to look forward to when they are reduced (unless they are going to glue the heads and arms as well?!!)!

"I bought two 10224 Town Hall shortly after midnight and that didn't trigger the TIE Fighter to be added."

Isn't the deal that the >550 SEK needs to be spent on Star Wars products?

By in United Kingdom,

I was told today instore you only got the mini TIE if you made at least one Star Wars purchase in your £50 spend.

By in Belgium,

@ Formentar: so a UK uncle who wants to surprise his nephew in Belgium with an affordable LEGO set (because there's an offer going on like on BF), cannot apply the UK-only discount + free shipping to that order plus gets to pay the higher price (there was at least one Ninjago set that was 20%-30% cheaper in the UK)?

By in United Kingdom,

Gutted - Just spent over £500 this week - wish I'd waited for free postage & double points - all I got was a lousy city poster!!

By in United Kingdom,

Now s the best time to buy the town hall.

Gravatar
By in United States,

so I guess March 12 - 15 is the ordering window for those of us here in the US

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I´ve bought the townhall with 359 VIP Pionts and Free shipping I think i´ts a good day to buy Lego 10224.

By in United States,

The storage box looks nice, but very similar to one that has been available on Amazon.com for a while: http://amzn.com/B004QD3HMU

By in United Kingdom,

Wow new magnets, with the following disclaimer ...

"Minifigures are not detachable from 2x4 LEGO bricks"

Call me old-fashioned, but ... I thought LEGO was all about being able to take the bricks apart and then to rebuild them to your own design - that's where the play-value lies, isn't it?

Gravatar
By in United States,

^ this isn't really new, LEGO started gluing these about a year ago, due to licensing requirements. I think LEGO would rather not have to glue them, but their hands are apparently tied on this issue.

Gravatar
By in United States,

aww... no mini tie fighter for us :'(

By in Ireland,

@Huw In the info you received about this promotion, can you tell me if there is any info on if/when free shipping might come on stream for other European countries? (I'm still hoping that Ireland might get a delayed start to the free postage offer, like the US, but it seems unlikely...)

^^@dougts you should have said their hands are glued on the issue. :P

Gravatar
By in Germany,

ordered!!!!!! can't wait to have it in my hands!!!!!!

Gravatar
By in Curaçao,

^^ Done. I'm surprised they are still pushing that set given it's 5 years old...

I've had no information about other countries. The affiliate marketing scheme only operates in USA, UK and Canada.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Check check check, that's what I have been waiting for... :-)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Lukeskywalker Or "much like the figs, we're taking a firm stance on this..."

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I hope i have my one tomorrow :) It´s already shipped but it doesn't look so good :(
I've ordered at 6 am i can't waiiiiiiiiiiiit (:

Gravatar
By in United States,

There is a 4 day window to buy $75 or more and get free S&H and double VIP points!

I hope the minifigures don't go out of stock by then. I haven't got one yet.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Given how easy it is to safely remove the glue the magnets still arent too bad. Unless you want them mint - some marking remains on the legs.

By in Sweden,

@mountebank: Huw's post didn't mention anything about the £50 having to be spent specifically on Star Wars, but I see now that it's the same rules for UK and Sweden.

@BJMdotLEGO: LEGO can hardly know for sure where the buyer is located, and I understand that they don't want to base their prices on where the buyer claims to be from. The free shipping thing seems a bit random. Standard shipping is more than four times more expensive in Sweden than in the UK, presumably due to DHL's pricing, but that doesn't explain why they don't have free shipping in other countries where it's cheap. Related to the competition situation (with Amazon etc), perhaps?

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Ireland as usual gets shafted on the offers compared to if I lived 40 minutes drive away - €50 on Star Wars sets for the Tie Fighter, no free shipping.

Shipping to Ireland is relatively cheap in general too (Amazon use our post office rather than the alternative modes they use in the UK for instance - and Lego use standard post for here).

Double points isn't enough to get me to buy the Town Hall this month, I think.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I guess I'll drop by the lego shop on the 15th, try to combine all of that with whatever discount finding the shamrock gives you. Anyone know what that might be? 10% or something?
