Another vendor teams up with Brickset

Posted by ,

Please welcome The Daily Brick to the growing list of vendors advertising on Brickset.

The Daily Brick is based in the UK but ships worldwide. You will see their sets listed on the For Sale tab on the set details pages.

You may also have noticed an ad for BrickBuildersPro.com in the side bar. Brick Builders Pro provide custom kits and instructions for a superb selection of modular buildings and much more besides.

Thank you to everyone who has responded to my previous article on the listing your sets here. I'll be getting round to integrating you all with the site in due course!

While I was making changes today I tweaked the home and browse pages a bit: the 'New in the database' list is now on the Browse page, and the list of online users, that really only served to bloat the size of the page markup, has been removed.

I'd rather 'New in the database' list remains on the Home page. That list shows new items revealed recently, and is meaningful particularly to those new items not covered by news thread. As compared, "New at S@H" list is even less meaningful.

"New additions to the database" must stay at the front page! An excellent way of keeping up with newly revealed sets. When I've been off Brickset for a while, and return, I immediately know if there's any news worth reading if there are new sets I've been waiting to hear about added to the top of the page.

Let's call it a trial to see if it works on the browse page or not. After all it is only 1 click away now.

I quite like the new in the database feature being on the front page. I only come on once a fortnight and means I can quickly and easily see if there's any new Lego sets I might want.

With regards to 'the daily brick'.... I hope you get a good commission out of those prices, Huw.

£25 for a Gamorrean Guard?

I've got a strong feeling you did the wrong thing there, Huw. 'New in database' is the raison d'etre of brickset. And I enjoy seeing the photos of old sets I'd never notice when you occasionally play catch-up.

That was one section I always made sure to check out, even if it was only a glance while on the homepage before going off somewhere else. I'd like to see it return as well. The S@H ticker isn't nearly as helpful.

I guess that means I come to Brickset for info/news, not shopping.

I also would prefer so see the new in the 'New in database' on the front page. I`m used to do quick look on the front page several times per day, so in was very convenient the way it was before.

I understand it's commercially more sensible to have the S@H list on the front page if one has to choose between the two, but it's not a feature I use very often. The 'new in database' list was a convenient way for me to keep up with the set news at a glance. And it better fits the 'Brickset: LEGO set guide' motto at the top of the page. Soon it will have to be changed to ''Brickshop: LEGO shopping guide' ;)

Actually since the site has become more user-customizable, perhaps this could be an preference that every user could set for himself?

I would rather have a link to Bricklink, the prices are cheaper. That's where he buys his stock anyway

What is the advantage of buying items from The Daily Brick at nearly 300% of RRP. Emerald night in nearly this? Why is Brick set encouraging these outrageous mark ups?
