Grand Carousel has shipped early in the USA

Grand Carousel

The highly anticipated Grand Carousel set is now available from LEGOshop in the USA, a couple of days early. With over 3200 pieces it's the 6th largest LEGO set ever released in terms of number of pieces (the Taj Mahal is the largest, with 5900) so it's sure to be a challenging build.

It's been a busy week for releases and as a reminder you can see a list of everything available from LEGOshop.com, shown in reverse chronological order with the newest at the top of the page, by clicking on the More... link next to the 'New at LEGOshop.com' title above, or by subscribing to our RSS feeds from the links on the right.

Wahoo! That's great! Let's hope it will be in the UK soon...

By in Germany,

Just checked the price: 249.99 US dollars?!? Sheesh, I expect a sky-high UK price...

P.S. Can you convert the price above into UK pounds? Please?

By in United States,

$250??? I am so NOT getting this, but it still looks awesome.

By in Netherlands,

Wow, that's a steep price allright! I guess that'll be 250 euros as well? Disappointing.

Gravatar
By in Austria,

180 Euro would be fair for 250 US$ - they even have less shipping cost to good ole Europe than to USA

By in United States,

The Carousel looks great!

Hey, if I had a suggestion for Huw to add something on this site, where would I go to ask him?

@bluemoose: Yowzer! 166.35 pounds?!? Help... I will dream of a 5,000-piece set costing only 1 pound soon enough... LEGO is making all these sets a little over-priced...

By in United Kingdom,

~£166 for 3500 pieces ? Over-priced ? That works out at a little under 5p a brick.

Now look at the Endor set; ~£73 for 890 pieces. Over 8p a brick.
Or the UCS Falcon; ~£340 for ~5200 pieces. 6.5p per brick.

Looked at that way, the Carousel is a bargain ! ;-)

@bluemoose: Really? Well, I guess AFOLs have a better way to know if it's cheap or not than children!

By in United States,

Not a bad price for what LEGO is pricing their sets nowadays. I was expecting this set to be at least $300.

The USA Legoshop.com has a banner about getting a free gold minifig key chain for orders of 75$ or more, placed during the month of July (while supplies last of course):

http://shop.lego.com/Promotion/?GoldMini

(Don't forget to use the Brickset link when ordering to help out the site :)

Amazon.com also has a deal for a free City minifig set with the purchase of select City sets through the end of June. Here's a link for the Amazon deal:

(Don't know if Brickset has an Amazon link, but if so, don't forget to use that one when ordering to help out the site :)

@legobagel:
A lot of the new sets (Star Wars, Indy, etc.) were released in Europe before the US, so it works both ways. :)

By in Singapore,

By in United States,

So if this is 6th largest set and Taj Mahal and UCS Falcon are 1 and 2....anyone know what the 3rd, 4th, and 5th largest sets are? Just curious, wanna know if I have them.

By in United States,

Just got mine in today! Woohoo! Now to start building....

By in Singapore,

RangerTam, I'm guessing the following fills out the top 5 - Death Star 3803, Death Star II 3441, Eiffel Tower 3428. I had a feeling that the Imperial Star Destroyer would be up there too but it has 3104 pieces and may well be 7th or even 8th.

By in Netherlands,

I ordered the grand carrousel paid 229,99 euros and now the price went up to 249,99 euros...
I guess i got lucky...

By in United States,

@ train_nut: the Ultimate Collector's Edition of the Millenium Falcon has over 5000 pieces, making it Number 2.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Has anyone built this yet and would say it is worth $250? There are a lot of other sets that I'm interested in if this one isn't worth it...

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

looks fantastic. still undecided... i also know it emits an awful noise when the carousel moves.

Gravatar
By in United States,

looks really awesome! but the price needs to be cut

By in Austria,

Dear LEGO-Company!

229 Euro was already a lot - I could buy all of Pirates plus Sponge Bob for that money.
To raise the price immediately after the launch to 249 Euro is a clear "stop sign" for me - you may keep "my" carousel-box on stock forever! Whereas in the US it is only 249 US$.

Also VERY questionable for us Europeans: 6754, which is a real good one, is 59US$ as well as 59 Euro at S@H - that is 40% more expensive in the Euro-Zone than in the USA at present! Tell u what I'll do: Wait till it is 25% off on amazon & Co like many other Creator-Sets.

A positive example is 6752: 59 US$ but only 49 Euro - that's more or less ok (due to lower taxes etc in the USA, I suppose).

On the other hand a "steel hammer" (no mistake!): 4956 is 52 Euro but only 49 US$!!

Make fair prices for us Europeans, too! At least I am not an addict, who buys it all anyways!!!
