2013 Super Heroes Minifigs Unveiled at San Diego Comic Con

Posted by ,

As reported on FBTB, LEGO have unveiled yet another exclusive at San Diego Comic Con 2012, a line-up of the Super Heroes minifigs for sets to be released in 2013:

From DC we have:

  • Mister Freeze
  • Aquaman
  • Batman in White Suit
  • Bane
  • Commissioner Gordon with a SWAT Flack Jacket
  • Hooded Robin
  • Scarecrow
  • Joker in Orange Jumpsuit
  • Penguin
  • Harley Quinn in Nurse Outfit

From Marvel we have:

  • Spider-man
  • Nick Fury
  • Venom
  • Nova
  • J. Jonah Jameson
  • Victor Von Doom
  • Beetle

Ace has even secured official pics of all the minifigs. You can check them out here.

This certainly hints at a new Arkham Asylum in 2013 which I'm sure would be a popular choice. I'm not sure how much more excitement we can handle from SDCC this year, it's certainly been one of the best for LEGO exclusives in recent memory.

Let us know what you think in the comments or join in the discussion in the forum.

Nick fury? New avengers set?

By in United States,

Venom!!! i want!!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Can't wait for some of these figs, but I thought that the SDCC exclusive Dark Knight would be the set version. Also after the stunning Darth Malgus couldn't Lego do a full mask instead of a print?( on Bane)

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

HOLY MOLEY I'm over the moon with these figs... wow! Wonder what the sets will be like.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really wish the Hooded Robin looked more like the Arkham City one.

I also wish they had used Richard Rider/Nova Prime, but I understand why they used Sam Alexander as the basis for Nova.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So excited for Aquaman.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ha, Beetle in his corny old costume? Not even Mach-V or whatever version he's using now? Pretty obscure choice!

@rolvtd: Seconding you on the Richard Rider thing; I wasn't even aware that there was another Nova. Another strange pick considering we've been seeing Rider for the past couple of years + Marvel vs Capcom 3.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Okay, so if it's definitely a nurse outfit, then it has to be a new Arkham Asylum (based on the game, perhaps?). I had been thinking it might be a jail, because of the cop and the Joker's orange jumpsuit.

On the Marvel side, I really like Venom, Doom and Nova. I'm glad we're getting a new J. Jonah Jameson, but how did they NOT use the crewcut hairpiece?
http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Agent_Charge
That's JJJ's signature look!

@ UtarEmpire - I think that's Beetle's new costume. Beetle's classic costume is the green and purple one with those pointy "antennas" rising from the face-shield.

By in United States,

OMG OMG OMG!!!!!! Come faster 2013!!! I assume these are just the comic sets (minus TDKR minfigs), as we have Iron Man 3 and Man ofSteel sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Richard Rider is the more common comic version of Nova. Sam Alexander is from the new Spider-Man show which these sets are based off of, which also explains why there is a Dr. Doom.

I imagine Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel sets will be in the second wave of superhero sets.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I wonder if there will be a new killer croc

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I heard nurse.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Iron-Man: Ahhhh, that explains the somewhat obscure choices, at least from a comic book point of view. So the "Spider-Man TV show" line will continue with Nova, Beetle, Venom, JJJ, et al. And here I was pinning my hopes on Secret Avengers, heh.

Gravatar
By in United States,

That means a DKR set will be released next year. My favorite figures so far are Beetle and Nova for Marvel and Bane and Mr. Freeze for DC.

By in Hungary,

Damn my inner Marvel fan, I'm gonna have to buy all new set next year just like this year's sets. But right now some of the new minifigs look kinda off for me. Maybe because I don't watch the USM show and I'm mainly a comic guy. Venom is awesome, I can't wait to get it, Spider man's okay, nothing special there. Nova does look weird for me, the helmet looks too big and the overall design of the chest looks too simplistic for me (I know it's based on the USM show's Nova, but I really hope one day they'll make 2 Richard Rider Novas: 1 based on his old centurion uniform and on based on his Nova prime uniform) (I remember the Iron Man helmet looked weird and big last year but it kinda grew on me after I bought the sets, hope this will too). Nick Fury is great, how could it not be great? But I hope at some point there will be a regular 616 Fury minifig too. Jameson is also a it off. The first thing that popped into my mind is that his head looks like Kuririn in Dragon Ball GT ( http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_o1Y4xvvHc1Y/S6905dSSGrI/AAAAAAAAABU/BUIDzDC1BUs/s1600/KrillinOldStanding.jpg ). Doom's overall costume looks good, but his face looks a bit too silly/cartoonish. I think the Beetle looks really cool, I like this version. All in all, I really look forward to next year's sets, can't wait to get some details on them.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I hope this list is far from being complete, not nearly enough Marvel characters there. I'd like to see them include some SHIELD agents (maybe Coulson?) in whatever set will have Fury. I was also expecting some more X-Men next year, but they are absent from this list.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@UtarEmpire "And here I was pinning my hopes on Secret Avengers, heh." I think we're past that anyway with Marvel soft-rebooting (including Avengers) and all.

So far the ones I'm most excited for are Aquaman and Doom. Sorta' sad that there's no Green Lantern or Flash, especially given the video game JUST CAME OUT.

And can we please stop with all the "con exclusives"? What if we just didn't want to pay $1,000+* for a mini fig.

*ComicCon badge, airfare, hotel, transporation, food and expenses.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Did you look further into the pictures to see the exclusive SDCC figures they gave out: Bizarro, Black-suit Spider-Man, Phoenix Jean Grey and Shazam. Hope these come out in a Minifigure series in the future.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Where is Green Lantern and the Flash? C'mon Lego ,these are two of the main characters in the DC universe. I'm pleased to hear the spiderman will be in further sets next year. It means that i don't need to buy that Doc Ock set this year just to get him. Would have preferred to see more X men released but not a bad selection overall.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Sam Alexander also made his introduction in comics this year in comics associated with Avengers vs X-Men.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well, I'm disappointed that there aren't any X Men figs out yet, especially after the Phoenix promotion. Still, looks like a good selection.

Gravatar
By in United States,

My God! Between these, the Hobbit sets, Rancor Pit and the Hasbro Transformers Panel...total nerdgasm here!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

This news has seriously made my day-a Dark Knight Rises set! With Gordon to boot! I'm thinking it'll be either a Tumbler, The Bat, the Batpod, or a mixture of them? Kind of disappointed by lack of new moulds though. I agree with llanowarsoldier, the lego and transformers panels have made me so happy!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

So, whereas I 'was' considering buying up the complete theme to date....I'm not any more - not with that lot on its way!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Pumped for the Batman figs! Seems like that spider man set will be pretty big consisting of that many figs. I wish they would make a new killer croc fig. Kind of hinting at an Aquaman movie.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hope j.j. has a reversible angry face.that says "HES A MENACE"

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love Venom and the black vines are great to have!
All the figs have nice looks except Dr. Doom. They messed up the mask on this one. Should've look to Jack Kirby's classic one to do the graphics on this fig.
Beetle looks great. Wonderful wing elements! White suit Batman looks cool too.
Can't wait to see the sets that go with these figs!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

ive got to say im very disappointed i was expecting to see green lantern, sinestro, flash, captin cold, the fantastic 4, the x-men, dare devil, silver surfer i dont think we need a nova, beetle or J J Jameson and i dont think we need TDKR sets because its too dark for children but im no going to gripe about that too much

Gravatar
By in United States,

This explains why some of the series 8 CMFs suck..they spent all their time on making these new minifigures. I am so excited about almost all of the minifigures...white batman, aquaman, dr. doom, nova etc. I am actually wondering if it's ok to be this excited about painted plastic at my age. I have a disease at its name is LEGOitis and I don't see myself being cured anytime soon.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Pretty cool. I'm liking Venom, we've been waiting for that one. Beetle and Nova seem interesting. Mr. Freeze I think, doesn't look better or worse. I kinda liked the older Scarecrow, but this one'll do.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Looking forward to all of them, including the characters like Nova and Beetle that I'm not that familiar with. 2013 is without a doubt one of the best years for LEGO I've seen in a while.

Gravatar
By in United States,

These are SO awesome that it makes up for how disappointed I was over Series 8. That money will just be re-directed!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Aquaman? AQUAMAN?! Sweet. That's five members of the JLA (counting the ridiculously rare Green Lantern, but still). Two to go.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm assuming that if we are getting a joker in jumpsuit does that mean we are getting a new arkham asylum or arkham city set?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

These look... amazing. I'd can't even pick a favourite, they're all so great. I can't wait to see the sets, hopefully there will be some nice smaller sets rather than just big £40+ ones.

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

is this venom same as the SDCC 2012 exclusive venom?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Scarecrow for MOCs, the others don't do it for me. And Gordon in SWAT gear seems wrong.

Gravatar
By in United States,

^^ it looks like only the head print is different between Venom SDCC.

Gravatar
By in Hong Kong,

Doctor Doom? Where is Morgan Lefay? or the FF? At least a doombot!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looking at the Nick Fury figure I wondered why his body was blue not black then I realized after looking at the printing that I think he has the body of the agent who is his assitant.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

These look great I think, particularly Mr. Freeze and Commissioner Gordon, both absolutely superb!

Gravatar
By in United States,

All right sweet!!!!! Movie bane u will be mine!!!!!!!!! I will do what ever it takes to get my hands on that dark knight rises bane it looks way cooler than any other bane lego has done!!!! I HAVE GOT TO HAVE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The white batman is most likely hinting at a new polly bag set the Gordon swat hints at the new movie The dark knight rises =D

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^The white suit could be specialized for Batman to take on Mister Freeze (like an anti-freeze suit) and might be included with the same set as Freeze.

I'm loving all the new mini-figures, so can't pick a favourite. I just hope there are more to come :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

All of these figures look positively amazing, and I can't wait to see the sets they come with. I am geeking out over Doom, Venom, AQUAMAN!!!, and Mr. Freeze. Must have. All of them.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think the set with Venom in it might be the first time I've bought a licensed set because of the figures, not despite them.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am so happy I managed to secure a Bizarro, Phoenix, and Venom, but after seeing the Venom coming in 2013 I feel a bit scammed

Gravatar
By in United States,

I hope Nick Fury will be in an Avengers set and not a USM set. He'll probably be in a USM set though. Darn. TDKR set may be a little late for the movie, but oh well. Some other things I noticed: Doesn't Commissioner Gordon have grey hair, not brown? And I wonder what set Aquaman will be in...

Gravatar
By in United States,

The white batman suit isn't a videogame Arkham city special minifig of some sort. It's his suit to fight against mr freeze. He wore this in "the batman" series, not saying that the set will be based off that series. The Arkham asylum joker and Harley Quinn look just like the videogame characters. I sure would like to see a night wing minifig with the same hair piece that he had in the past one.

I'm way excited for the mr freeze and bane minifigs though and I hope they make a new batwing from TDKR. I also hope they make a Anne Hathaway cat woman minifig. That would be fantastic.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@nightmarevalkyrie I guess my luck i gave you did you well. I'm trying to pick them up on ebay but I'm not rich, lol.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Heres a list of DC predictions (if i'm right, I should get a medal or something ;P)
1. Batman versus Freeze with Aquaman trapped in some sort of frozen ice chamber
2. Tumbler/Batpod/Bat with Gordon and TDKR batman versus Bane with hostage cop
3. Arkham Asylum with Harley, Joker, Scarecrow, ivy versus Batman in black wingsuit
4. Robin in his R-cycle versus penguin

Again, these are just predictions based off of logic and Lego's normal MO for good v evil sets. I don't have any predictions for Marvel because I'm not an avid reader or die hard fan of the comics like I am of DC. In fact, I don't even know who Beetle is and if it weren't for Marvel Versus Capcom 3 I wouldn't know who Nova was. I wish they would have made him look like that instead of this version...whose head looks...well...gross. I also like the Arkham City style figs like freeze and robin...yet robin's outfit should be sleeveless and with more detail like in the game. Also, he should have his pole. My custom robin literally looks just like this. Guess I beat Lego to the punch!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Its good to see this wave isn't as campy as the last DC waves of sets we got this year. I think Lego has been listening to its fan base.
If it is like last year at SDCC 2011, they may have more superheroes which are unannounced but are to be released next year.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

@ Captain Radda Radda, I would absolutely LOVE a set that offered Freeze, Aquaman and frost-proof Batman together. I hope you're right!

@ TheCahleySlash, what's wrong with the "campy" approach used last year? They have a bit of colour thrown on them, and they work well against the equally good, slightly darker 2006 sets.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm very excited. I wish they would do more of the Justice league Characters like Cyborg, Flash, Green Lantern, etc.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Marvel Line UP is connected. They are all connected to the Ultimate Spiderman TV Program. On the other hand Dc comics is a bit confusing because at first I thought it was linked to rumored Batman Arkham City Sequel but then Aquaman and a dark knight rises version of Bane was in. None of Aquamans enemy's are listed so does this mean there is going to be more figures yet to release? Could this possibly be 3 sets (Aquaman. Arkham City & Dark knight rises)? Are just more sets which aren't linked to the films or TV series?

By in Australia,

@Ethanjg, I believe the The Dark Knight Rises part of the 2013 series will be one set featuring Bane, Gordon and Batman. I wouldn't expect any more beyond that. As for the rest of them, I believe they're still going with a general Batman approach, but there is an Arkham Asylum set, and some of the minifigs look "newer" than the others.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm Dissapionted to see that there is no green lantern minifig aviable in any of the upcoming super heroes sets.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Has Lego stated these are all of the first waves figures are just some exclusives first looks?
I feel they have more up their sleeve
All of the Marvel ones are connected to ulitmate spiderman
The DC ones are all Batman related (except Aquaman), i think there might be a sneaky flash or different suit green lantern coming up

Gravatar
By in United States,

I would like to see a green-skinned Ivy someday....

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well just look at how many of dc and marvel 2012 figures there were.
I think there was 16 DC and 14 Marvel so they have some more figures some where.

Gravatar
By in United States,

WOOOWWWW! Bane is AWESOME! I really want him!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I want all of these! This is probably the best brand Lego has ever come out with in my opinion.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@nightmarevalkyrie goo luck on getting the set of SDCC 2012 Mini-Figs

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like the new aquaman but my favourite out of all of those is TDKR bane could this be the return of a tumbler set with commissioner Gordon, bane and the comic con exclusive batman???? I hope so !!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

For those of you who don't know, LEGO will probably not be making another Avengers set until Avengers 2 if they still have the license. Just a guess. I think so because the weird looking, blue Nick Fury is from the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon series. He's looks just like the Nick Fury from the cartoon. So it looks like we'll see some Ultimate Spider-Man and Batman sets, and probably 1 TDKR LEGO set like they did last time with The Dark Knight.

No X-Men sets (sigh.....)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

There is going to be definitely a set for tdkr because on fbtb.net there is a dark knight rises press release stating that there will be at least 1 set to coincide for the film.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Gollum's precious is the ring, my precious is these minifigures! I think that the next marvel and dc sets should be x-men, fantastic four, man of steel, iron man 3, thor 2, and the green arrow from dc.

Gravatar
By in Hong Kong,

Got to say, I much prefer the original Mr. Freeze, simply because it's true to the Animated Batman version, which made the character come into his own.

Do you reckon Lego will be releasing a Green-Lantern mini fig in the future, or should I shell out for one of the Comic-con ones?
