Star Wars Celebration mini Slave 1 building instructions

Posted by ,

Article updated...

Those of you eager to build your own mini Slave 1 can now do so thanks to multiplex, Martin and input from the Brickset community in the comments to this article.

I haven't found a scan of the instructions online anywhere but multiplex has created a parts list, and Martin has created instructions in MLCAD. I've combined them into a single PDF which you can download exclusively from Brickset.

I'm a few parts short so I've just ordered from BrickLink. I'll post a picture when I've built it.

Update: Brickset member Hygrotus has provided us with a scan of the official instructions.

Should 43711 & 43710 be dark red not red?

Looks great, is the build computer generated/rendered?

^^ Yes, dark red. Well spotted.

By in Norway,

Why have boba got the new stormtooper face?

My mistake, 43711 and 43710 should indeed be dark red. Oh and I forgot the most important piece....Boba Fett! :-)

@jacksparrow2 "why have Boba got the new stormtrooper face?"

because Boba is a clone, he's a clone of Jango Fett that Jango was raising as his son. All the clones therefore, and stormtroopers as they became later, are identical to Jango, as is Boba. Hence the same head as the stormies!! Hope that makes sense?!

By in Ireland,

I have put together an MLCad drawing of the model, there's a part missing from the inventory 51739 Wedge, Plate 2 x 4 in Dark Bley.

Also, my model is missing the window as it's not available yet in MLCad. Probably should have used LDD but there you go.

If anyone is interested interested, PM me. It's possible to create the instructions from the file although it's fairly straight forward. did take about 1 1/2 hours to piece the model together though.

By in United Kingdom,

I've also put together an MLCAD version and I'd challenge a couple of details in the inventory. I think the panels are 1x4 and not 1x2. I also suspect the 1x1 modified tiles with clips are actually one 1x2 modified tile with 2 clips. Neither of which really affect the end result although it looks neater and used fewer parts.

The two black Technic friction pins are also missing from the inventory.

Shame there's no cockpit glass available in MLCAD. Happy to produce some instructions if people want them.

Yeah, forgot about the technic pins. Also, file doesn't import into LDD very well as it doesn't have support for the Bracket 1 x 2 - 1 x 2 parts. You'd think lego's own software would have an up-to-date part inventory...

^^ Yes please, Martin!

Man you guys have good eyes. Thanks for catching the missing parts

I have a revised parts list and PDF instructions from Martin. I'll post them when I get home in about 3 hours.

By in United Kingdom,

This little model is lovely I think, particularly that cockpit which I adore!

@kempo81 - Stormtroopers are almost entirely made up of human recruits, not Clone Troopers.

By in United States,

I believe the cockpit piece (the clear glass part) is exclusive to the Jet Copter Encounter Alien Conquest set.

By in United Kingdom,

Based on the animated video, the image from hawk2009's flickr stream, and the image from the set's packaging, it definitely uses two 1 x 4 panels.

I would also say that the 1 x 2 plate with two clips is more likely as well, as a) the video only morphs one part at a time, and the clips appear simultaneously, and b) it would be a stronger build.

For those that want it, I have also posted an LDraw version over on Eurobricks, which can be found here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=48285&view=findpost&p=1389133

I would probably say I still prefer the 20019 Slave I in terms of design, however.

^ that's a lovely render on EB.

By in United States,

Lovely little model, but it's a novelty build, so I have very little interest in it. What IS cool is the video review: Artifex has tons of these animations of official sets on his Youtube stream. I would highly recommend them!

By in United Kingdom,

@Martin: Thank you! It'd look better with the windscreen, but my LDraw part authoring skills are not quite up to the task!

@capnrex101

not true, a large number of the stormtroopers are in fact clones. there numbers grew after Palpatine (the emperor) allowed recruits to join alongside the legions of clones.

^Very early on in the Imperial Era maybe, following the rebellion by Clones on Kamino early in the GCW the Empire chose to accept only human recruits as Stormtroopers and not clones, forcing clones into managerial and training roles where they could not be controlled en masse by the Rebel Alliance like they were by the Kaminoans on Kamino. Human recruits however would not be easy to control in large numbers so were preferred by the Empire. It is also worth considering that due to the accelerated ageing, by the time of the Battle of Yavin for instance, all but the very latest Clone Troopers would be too old to fight effectively or even dead.

I love these videos by Artifex, the animation is absolutely wonderful.

^ well then I bow down to your superior knowledge... I'm not an expert by any means but was merely offering a possible answer to someone's question. I believe this has gone off topic enough.

By in United Kingdom,

I've added Martin's instructions to Multiplex's revised parts list and updated the PDF.

Thanks everyone, what a great community achievement!

By in Venezuela,

Hi, I downloaded the updated pdf file, but it does not contain any instructions, just the list of parts

By in Sweden,

Isn't there a step missing? Windshield step?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The windshield has not been created for MLCAD so can't be added to the instructions.

By in Australia,

Big thanks to the people who went to the effort to recreate and scan the instructions. I have every Slave 1 that Lego has made, but I didn't want to pay the over $100 Australian dollars that the Star Wars Celebration Slave 1 tins were going for on eBay in Australia. Thanks guys and girls!
