Two more TMNT images have surfaced

Posted by ,
Stealth Shell in Pursuit

CM4S posted images of 79102 Stealth Shell in Pursuit and 79103 Turtle Lair Attack in the forum overnight. I've no idea where they came from, and given they have no LEGO logo on them they look a bit 'dodgy' but the absence of any confidential watermarking means I can use them in the database. (Update: here's the original source).

79102 comes with three minifigs: Raphael, Fishface and a foot soldier. 79103 contains five: Foot soldier, Leonardo, Raphael, Splinter and a dark ninja.

A fish on a boat... I wonder how that idea made it through!

By in Australia,

It all of it looks ugly as sin. Definitely a pass in my books.

By in Australia,

So essentially, we can get all four turtles. Just, spread out between all the sets, like the HP or LotR figures? Sweet.

Not so keen on the stealth shell thing, but I do love the Turtle Lair. Question, though - why is there a tree in the sewer, though? I can't imagine that would get much sunlight. It's a nicely built tree, though.

By in Netherlands,

The sets not so great. The figures, awsome!
Have always been a turtle fan, so I definitely want those figures.

Wow, TMNT is giving Hobbit a run for its money on ludicrously awful sets.
I'm going to save a lot of money in 2013.
The big plus for MOcers obviously is the new shade of green. I'll be getting those from Bricklink, not these sets, that's for sure.

By in Australia,

Yeah, very uninspiring. Especially since the prices are going to be just as uninspiring. Probably would have been better off with a Rugrats theme. :/

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Zordboy, yes. Donatello appears only in 79101 which we don't have an unwatermarked picture of yet. There are two versions of the other three, with different facial expressions.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

@Zordboy, the tree is probably for the tomatos on the pizza.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

^ I'd understand moss or algae or something, growing in a sewer, but a full-on tree? That's a head-scratcher, no doubt.

And I'm still hoping we can get an April O'Neil fig, at some point. There's Shredder and Splinter, there *has* to be April.

The lack of a LEGO logo makes me think these might be from PDF instructions, since the LEGO logo is often separate from the rest of the cover image. But of course if they're leaked they could be from anywhere.

People keep commenting on how awful these sets look, but I think they look quite nice, and I'm not even a Turtles fan. I don't plan on getting any, but the Turtles' lair seems at least as good as the various incarnations of Hogwarts or the Batcave, and the Shellraiser looks very stylish. Not so keen on the Stealth Shell but as I understand it it's meant to be fairly small so there's only so much detail that could be worked in.

By in Greece,

Well, I quite like the Fishface figure and Raphael, so that's handy - I can buy the smallest set and forget about the rest.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Whats with all these haters and talk of why is there a tree. - If youd been watching the series you would understand that the tree is in there training area.
The sets look extremely good to me and realistic to the series good job lego keep it up!

By in Portugal,

The "Dark Ninja" is most likely Chris Bradford from episode 4.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I know I shouldn't be this excited, but ... Printed stair pieces! :D

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think the dark ninja is someone else coz I read that ... Spoiler alert ..... Dogpound is Bradford

Gravatar
By in United States,

Alright, I don't actually think these two sets are particularly bad. The minifigs are kinda cool, and the vehicles and base are also cool.

Gravatar
By in United States,

My guess is the turtles will be available via polybags like the Friends line. So people will be able to get each one. But I'm not so high on these... Though turtle lair is ok... I like the pizza in the oven.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like the looks of these. I will be more inclined to buy these over Ninjago or Sponge Bob. They look FUN.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

So is this because of a new movie or a new tv series?
It seems a bit out of the blue to me?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Hey PocasNuckie you may be right but i got my info from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teenage_Mutant_Ninja_Turtles_(2012_TV_series) which if you scroll down says Chris Bradford/ Dogpound.
Must say though im not young and im loving the new series its the hints back to the 80's series i love too i have even bought the series link of that generic mp3 download site.

I could be biased because I happen to love the Nick show, but I think these are pretty good. I can see how the LEGO designers would've been challenged to create something to match the show and keep it within a certain piece count/price point.

I wasn't a fan of the Dougpound figure, but this Fishface minifig rocks!

(The tree is more of a large indoor plant, really [think bonzai] and will make sense to those that watch the show.)

By in United States,

I'm running on faith that LEGO knows what they are doing with this. Having said that, this entire theme will be a super pass for me. I'm very curious to see how this goes, though.

I'm not liking the playmobilization of the sets these days, BUT if it sells and keeps LEGO going strong (so that LEGO can keep up with the stuff I _am_ interested in)... I say more power to 'em!

By in Hungary,

@Huw: It means that Mike is in the Kraang set. ;)

Gravatar
By in United States,

The turtle lair seems to have tan 1x2x2 "airplane" windows with rounded tops. New piece?

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

The store that leaked the pictures have i visit many times.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hrrrm, yeah, if the rest of the sets are as uninspiring as this, then I will just wait to get the polybags, or get them on BrickLink, or better yet just use my little Dremel saw tool to cut the metal rings off of the keychains' heads... That's a $20 solution right there, even though they won't be able to turn their heads, and I'll have to give them new weapons.

The Ninjago Dojo set 2504 is a million times better anyway. I am really beginning to see why so many fans are complaining that the non-licensed sets are better. It's not for a lack of imagination, but it's obvious that they think they can pawn off a poorly designed jumble of pieces as a set, but we will buy it anyway because we want those figs!

But I am pretty sure they will announce with a sixth set that includes April and an alternate-face Donatello. Don't they usually announce about five sets at first, and then a few weeks later they announce an extra sixth set?

By in Canada,

I had originally thought when I read that the Leo and Mike from the Shellraiser set were "exclusive", that meant that was the only set in which you could get both of those turtles. Now I find out I'm wrong, which is good to hear. I'd like to get all 4 turtles but I hated the Shellraiser set; so far I'm not hating the Turtle Lair one, and if Mikey and Donny come in other sets that aren't terrible I may have to break down and buy them.

Dangit Lego, just when I thought I could skip this theme entirely, you pull me back in. =D

I shudder to think of how much the Lair set is gonna cost though, considering the high cost (IMO) of the Shellraiser set...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I agree almaras22 the stairsteps art really cool brings up all kinds of ideas for rustic mocs

Gravatar
By in United States,

^^ Yes, if they say that the turtle figs are "exclusive" in one set, then that probably just means that this exact facial expression is unique to this set, and the other sets have different facial expressions! That's cool, because you don't want Michelangelo's tongue out in a fight! Also wait to see the polybag sets and not-yet-announced sets before you decide...

Plus, the different faces add play value and stotytelling value, and they encourage people to buy multiple sets, and they make it so people who get the whole range are not just buying multiples and clones.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Turtle Lair looks cool! The other vehicle set is okay, not bad. It's better than the first set we saw.

After seeing a few episodes of the TV series last week, I think LEGO did what they could. The vehicles just aren't that exciting.

I'm still holding out hope for them to nail the Technodrome. I'd drop a lot of coin to get one that's well done.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Wow these sets are awful. I really wanted the turtle mini-figures, a couple of foot soldiers and Shredder since those mini-figures look cool but the sets are so ugly I can't bring myself to buy any of them in this theme.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hmmm... I like both sets, especially the smaller one.

If the rest of the sets are this good, then the theme might turn out to be pretty interesting. :D

Gravatar
By in France,

absolutly ugly....

Gravatar
By in United States,

@tontonsega
These sets are wonderful examples of LEGO building! I particularly like the sloped angles of the vehicle, and the way which the complex shape of the vehicle is developed.
The other set is very good as well; it captures the feeling of the lair, and provides good architecture, and layered floors. Anyone else notice the pizza oven? ;)

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Stealth Shell set, in my opinion, looks horrible. It looks like they just got random pieces of random colors and mashed them together with 3 fairly cool minifigures. The way the set is built, though, reminds me a lot of the Monster Hunter theme. That's not a good thing. The vehicles just look unnatural with random colors jumbled into them. Now, the second set, the Turtle Lair Attack, actually looks pretty cool. Sure, it's not the Lord of the Rings sets, but it looks pretty cool. Unfortunately, because this is a licensed theme, the prices will be way too high.

Gravatar
By in United States,

My guess is donatello comes with shredder

Gravatar
By in United States,

@LegoC10
That's the exact opposite of how I feel about that set; it looks like it was intended to look like that a bit, almost "rough around the edges," giving the vehicle a rugged look.
The building techniques appear to be surprisingly sophisticated for both sets. I think the variety of color gives them character.

By in United States,

Seems like TMNT is getting alot of hate(which I think it deserves). Did PoP have a better responce, because if it did, will TMNT be a flop like PoP...?

Gravatar
By in United States,

^^

I'd say no. TMNT is considered a 'successful franchise' and has a new show that's doing quite well (so far). PoP? Not so much. Videogame series (that's largely forgotten), and a rather lackluster movie. I just never saw that as having much of a following.

A lot of the people that grew up on TMNT in the late 80's early 90's now have kids of their own, and I can see that being a big draw for turtle-themed merchandise.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Huw: Wait, are you saying there are watermarked pictures of 79101? Any chance you could tell us where?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Is the stealth shell based off of a Dark Knight / Ninga Turtles cross over Fanfiction? Lego has both licences...It could be happen.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

I was worried when I first saw that initial front image of Splinter, but he looks way better from a side view. Can't wait for these sets. :)

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Do I need glases, or??? The "line-up" of the minifigures of 79103 shows, as Huw states 5 minifigures, but on the setpicture I do count 6... or does the brown figure standing right of that tree not as a minifigure?

Anyway, these sets dont look appealing to me at all. Maybe that isn't necesary Lego's fault. It might be they are realy faithfully based on the source material, wich might look weird. I dont know; I am interested in this line. Although I grew up in the 80's too, TMNT never called my attention..

The only thing that realy calls my attention is the fact that some aditional pieces in olive green are introduced..

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

@Corellian Engineering:The 6th figure is a training dummy as I see it. And it has a Shredder helmet, nice!

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

Figures are great honestly to say, but sets are very childish and ugly. Lego is using this theme not very efficient. and waiting for a Exclusive Technodrome.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Man those sets looks great. The sewer set is just awesome.
The bike from the sewer canal chase set looks like a mix between the Tumbler and the Batpod.
Cant wait to pick them up.
