Next Sun promotion: dates and sets confirmed

Posted by ,

Here's the confirmation we've been waiting for. The offer starts Saturday next week and the sets are as stated first by Rich at Brick Fanatics.

It looks as if they are in the order stated, too. Here's atkinsar's BrickList so you can see which ones you need.

Typically, the best ones are at the weekend, when the paper is most expensive!

Thanks to number5 for posting the link in the forum.

@ rib

Or buy it, get free lego and get the satisfaction of just chucking it in the bin with out giving it a second glance! ;-)

By in Germany,

Well, alright ... ;-)

But you know why there is a (regional) boycott, right?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Has the apology not been sufficient to lift that?

By in United Kingdom,

This particular piece of tabloid rubbish has upset to many to count but when there is free lego involved you just have to think of it as buying the lego cheap and not the paper.

I hope to pick up a few LotR sets and the Marvel ones. Not too interested in anything else.

By in United Kingdom,

I will hopefully be getting two of each (one to keep sealed and one to open), as well as maybe a couple more Uruk-Hai polybags. I do hope that does not sound too greedy!

By in United Kingdom,

Im only interested in the Uruk Hai polly but I have a sneaky susption that will be the hardest to get a decent amount for.

By in United Kingdom,

then, where can i buy the sun??

By in United Kingdom,

I found at my local WH Smiths.. buy the paper, they give you lego .. go outside .. rip out token or tokens depending on how many papers you buy.. dump sun in the bin.. back into shop and hand over tokens getting a few more bags..

so one for best unopened and one to open .. result

By in United Kingdom,

@jon_k exactly how it is done at ours too. They don't mind you trying for a second bag. The immediate hand out keeps their queues moving without hassle and hopes to satisfy the 'one lego polybag' customer...
Yes most of us just rejoin the queue.

Remember every Sun binned is a Sun unread by the masses. Well thats how I deal with my guilt=|

Maybe just recycle the paper like me and the wife do. It's just a paper giving away free lego get over it.

By in Ireland,

I can't wait, these are awesome, and all of them come with a minifigure, except for the mini quinjet. I expect a war on November 3rd! ;) They'll be available in Ireland from Smyths toystores and Eason bookshops.

By in United Kingdom,

is there a limit to the amount you can get???? I fancy getting multiple Urak Hai's you see...

By in United Kingdom,

We use newspapers to wrap our rubbish up in. The Sun, unread, goes straight in the recycling bin. The Lego gets played with for years. Remember, the Sun can be binned - the Lego lasts forever.

Well said Hob. There's no extra points folks for saying how bad the Sun is or giving it the angst-wridden guilt nonsense every time they have a promotion. Yes, giving money to Rupert Murdoch, how terrible. How many of you have Sky TV I wonder?

Good to see the better sets are on the weekend as they will be the ones I can get!

@bradbean - It depends which store you are going to, sometimes it is only one or two per customer, at others however you can have as many as you want. It is more down to what you feel comfortable with buying. Either way the price f Uruk-Hai is going to go way down after this which will mean that they are cheaper everywhere!

We have lots of small animals - the papers then get used for about all they are good for. As long as I get a Thor minifig I'll be happy but somehow I'm doubtful It'll be easy.

By in United States,

why cant this be in america:(

By in Netherlands,

Why can't this be in The Netherlands?

Even in Belgium has a few months ago this kind of free Lego polybags with a newspaper. We have only here 'De Gamma' action of free polybags (when you bay 50 euros of building stuff).

In regards to all the 'don't buy the sun' comments, whilst I don't particularly like the paper, I think it would be a slippery slope if we started to judge all newspapers from an ethical and moral basis in terms of who Lego should partner with.
From a tabloid perspective, my view of The Mirror is no better than The Sun, and whilst broadsheets might suit the changing demographics of Lego buyers, it would significantly change the value of the promotion. i.e. The Times on Sunday is £2.50, for example. Might make the multiple buyers think twice though, lol?!

Great, school half term week, the shops will be empty, lol

This is a great offer. I don't normally buy a paper but am very happy to buy the Sun. A fine paper having broken many important stories over the years including 'Freddie Starr ate my hamster'. True their fact checking could have been a little better on some stories - but most of the time they were spot on and never afraid to print the truth - unpalatable though it may be to the establishment.

Soo...I'm in the U.S. The Sun is a tabloid newspaper. I don't understand promoting an Adult trash paper with a children's toys. I understand that a lot people buy these and use those items as gifts for the Holidays. And I understand it's appeal to the AFOL. But for the general masses of people it doesn't make sense. Let's promote our rubbish newspaper aim at adults, with a children's toy. -- Is that also awkward in the U.K.? Just trying to understand.

By in Czech Republic,

Any chance someone from UK could buy those polybags for me and than mail it to me to Prague, CZ?

Of course, I would cover all expenses and shipping. I assume advance payment over PayPal.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Buy the paper/s, then bin it. That's my motto.
Would you really prefer to buy multiple amounts of broadsheets which range from £2+ each, instead of buying The Sun where the cost is around 0:35 pence. At least the promotion is not with the even worse tabloids like the Daily Star where the cost is around about 0:20 pence, and where the content is more vulgar than The Sun and The Daily Mirror.
Just be grateful we are all getting exclusive Lego poly bags at a low cost. Not to mention a good selection of sets!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Heh... we don't have LEGO with our newspapers...

On the topic of polybag sets, which ones are currently available in the US, and where?

By in United Kingdom,

I've noticed that on the official sun lego page http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/affiliates/lego/ that the Uruk Hai set is no longer listed, having been replaced by Frodo.

As this was the set I was going to go for multiples on (as I suspect many were here), I'm hoping it's merely an 'typo' but I doubt it :(

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I've just looked at that page. They have Frodo listed twice at the foot of the page, so possibly a typo. They can't spell November correctly either on that page!!
