Mining Quad

30152 Mining DozerToday's Sun offering is 30152 Mining Quad. This set has been available in the USA at TRU and also in Belgium and Holland as part of promotions there.

As with most vehicles of this size that you find in polybags, it's all wheels and not much else. Once again the minifig is the main attraction. His helmet is particularly nice, and new to this year's City Mining sets.

Definitely worth a trip to WHS in the pouring rain for.

Another lovely little polybag, the helmet and dynamite pieces look particularly useful. My WHSmith was deserted this morning at 9:30am, I suppose this is far from the most appealing polybag though. I can only imagine the chaos once we get to the two Lord of the Rings sets at the end of the week...

^ You can go on the WhSmiths website and go to the store locator and put in your postcode and find your closest one and select it, then it will show you its open/close times. (Not sure you can do in Scotland but I think you can. Good luck)

The helmet is great. I'm not too keen on the torso. The tools seem to disappear into his trousers.

I love this set, haven't got any mining figures so its nice to get one with the new helmet. Regarding the mini vehicles that have been available in this promo, this one is definitely the best of the lot.

@Jelippo - Beware the WHS website! The Sunday openings are totally out of date for our local stores. I'd check with the store before you deprive yourself of a Sunday lie-in.

I love it. It's chunky. Best so far. I'm not that bothered about its exclusivity.

Question: has anyone here tried to redeem their figure vouchers at Toys R Us? I was wondering if they place any limit on how many figs per customer. eg. Would I need to don disguises and fake names to get multiple figs from the TRU customer services desk? Anyone have experience of this?

So far I've been getting the papers and figs from my local WH Smiths, but I was contemplating a trip to Toys R Us (17 miles away) if my local run out of Uruks on Saturday. But not worth it if they limit you to 1 fig per customer.

Does anyone know if there are ever any such deals here in the U.S.? I would definitely buy the newspaper/magazine just to get a set??? I have been keeping my eye on these sets every day lately and they seem great to me!!!

My WH Smith ran out by 12.45pm earlier today. I expect the scalpers were in force then - which really annoys me. As this is the best set of the bunch in terms of whats included I trudged all the way to my TRU to get it - luckily they had them.

This is definitely a £5 - £6 small set if at proper retail, so this is most certainly the best value purchase of Lego I've made in years.

Missing Brick - the Toys R Us local to me has a rule of 1 polybag only per customer irrespective of the number of vouchers. However, it might be that, in common with WHSmith branches, local practices do vary.

@Capnrex,

If you get up early and go to WHSmith for 8.30am on saturday, then you will be fine. As my dad keeps telling me, its quite a lazy country in parts, so the early bird will catch the worm, so to speak.

I wasn't able to get to my WHS (Harrow today) until 12:45, and there were still plenty available then - although, by 16:20 (I dropped in out of interest), they had completely sold out. I was told that yesterday's Coffin Car sold out by lunchtime.

@Missing Brick. It depends on the store, I know the TRU I'm seasonal staff at doesn't have a limit. In fact we've pretty much got a full box of each offer thats already passed, so we're still giving them out as well.

This and all the previous Sun Lego promotions have been available in Scotland. Any High St, or Retail Park branch of WH Smith doesn't open before 10am, and 11am on Sunday, from my experience. I am not into Mining LEGO, but this is a fab promo bag.

My WH Smith doesn't even mark the voucher on the paper, meaning you can either return later, or just head 1000 yards over to the nearby Toys R Us and get 2 sets for every paper you buy. A scalpers dream really. There may well be store rules in theory, but I doubt very much the majority of WH Smith/Toys R Us stores are enforcing them. And lets face it, if your a store assistant earning £7 are you really gonna care about challenging a scalper here and there (I personaly wouldn't).

It seems really simple to me, it should be printed in The Sun "max 2 vouchers per person". And LEGO/The Sun should be making this clear to the stores involved that this policy is to be adhered to.

Really nice polly bag. Great mini fig. Plus some nice accessories. Well worth buying the sun news paper.

Toysrus ipswich would only let me have one set despite having multiple copies of the paper!!!

WH Smith in Chelmsford limited to 5 per customer, went in at 15.30 today and they still had loads. I am working nights this week so I haven't got to the shops until after 14.00 each day but every day there have been loads available.

^^^If Lego were to sell this set at retail price in the UK it would £5 (judging by content inside), if the exchange rates were the same then the US would get this for $8

This is a great set, lots of excellent pieces which makes this the perfect set to use in Mocs! Defineitly the best Non-licensed polybag of the promotion!

^i have to agree it is the best non-licenced set and i would even go as far to say the best of the entire promotion.
