Discounted BrickArms from Chowren Toys

Posted by ,

Hot on the heels of the highly successful Lamborghini Polizia offer earlier in the month, Chowren Toys has lined up another offer exclusively for Brickset readers.

Here are the details from Jason:

"Thank you for your support on our last promo and special, it was a huge success!

"Here is the new promo on the other product line that we carry, 20% off BrickArms X-series of Sc-Fi weapons! In this promo, you will get all 8 in this special Chowren Toys X-series weapon pack, and there's no limit on how many packs you can buy.

"Please use the discount code Bricksxpac to receive the discount, but note the promo is only on the X-series weapons. However, do please check out our other BrickArms products, especially the popular Mystery Pack V.3.

"A quick note about shipping: We do charge a base shipping and handling fees, so the more you buy the average shipping per items goes way down."

These aren't real LEGO, are they?

Why are we promoting this fake lego when Mega#$@#ks and the likes get bashed? I thought this website was about real lego?

By in United Kingdom,

I'm all up for customising and DIY in a hobby but adding these to the happy world of Lego would feel wrong somehow unless I was into playing BRIKWARS. This amusingly lethal range of weaponry feels best suited to Action Force & GI Joe.

...that said, they look very well designed and made for AFOLs so all respect but is it like making a hunting and taxidermy set for Sylvanian Families? My analogy may be flawed :)

They aren't everyone's cup of tea but third-party weapons and accessories are huge business and very popular among teenagers, so I'm told.

I do enjoy the after market items such as brickforge and brickarms, but I admit this is a little "spooky" seeing theses weapons on brickset. It's a purist thing I suppose and the Disney effect: "happy things belong in happy places". Perhaps the seller has more items of the official lego variety that he'd like to promote on brickset?

@DwarfSleepy: These aren't exactly "fake lego"...They are made to complement LEGO.

Huw, you said that they have the Mystery Pack V.3 on the site, but I can only find the V.2...

First of all let us just apologize to all the true LEGO enthusiast if we have offended you in any way by asking Brickset to help us promote BrickArms. It was insensitive of us to not take into account that this is fan site for all things LEGO. Huw was extremely kind to help us with this considering the success of our previous promotion on the 8214 set. It was our fault and not the team at Brickset. If there are enough opposition towards this then we will gladly never have a promotion on anything other than LEGO again.

We should also mention a few things about Brickarms, especially for those who are not familiar with them. They have been around since 2006 and are probably one of the most respect LEGO compatible brand out there among AFOLs. BrickArms in our opinion is the pioneer in this market place. It is because of them we now see actual weapons in LEGO Star Wars set instead of the megaphones. We don't think it was coincidence that LEGO only started making their new Star Wars weapons in 2007, a year after BrickArms start making theirs. Because of BrickArms we now see tons of other brands making LEGO minifigure compatible weapons. We are promoting one of the most respected LEGO compatible brand. Megablok and the other lesser brands quality can't even compare with BrickArms. All of BrickArms weapons are made in great detail using the same process and materials as LEGO. Each BrickArms weapon is injection molded to the highest of tolerances from durable ABS plastic. Even though BrickArms are not LEGO, but they are pretty close in every aspect. Thank you, Jack & Jason.

I can echo the above comment. I am a Lego Purist and wont tolerate clone brands in my collection but I do make an exception for Brickarms as they compliment my Lego city police force with realistic weapons for my minifigs instead of megaohones and outdated revolvers. Not to mention the obvious military void they fill. Thank you Chowrentoys for the promo. I know these are not for everybody but I would reccommend them to anyone.

Well, one things for sure, I didn't go to the site looking for Brickarms but I did find an awesome selection of vintage items from the 1990's! Who Hoo! How about a 1990's promo? That may or may not float the sellers bottom line but I did browse your awesome Vintage Lego collection. I come to Brickset for that too! Cheers!

@copperwonder96 we plan to do more promotion of LEGO in the future. This is just a one time thing on BrickArms. As mentioned if the reaction is negative from the community then we will not do another promotion on non-LEGO products again. We already have another LEGO set lined up for December for stay tuned.... Haven't thought about doing a promo on the 90's sets, but it doesn't hurt to ask. We will look into it and see if there is anything we can do about it.
@cjg the Mystery Pack Vol 3 is now available in our store. Sorry about that!

i'm quite a purist too, but i don't understand why someone should feel offended by an announce. I mean, for those interested in these kind of stuff it's a nice and welcomed promotion. Those that aren't interested can easily scroll the page down a little. Said that, a 90s promo is a very nice idea :D

@Huw I'm I teen and though these are well desinged, I'm too much of a Lego purest to ever use these. When I want leathel looking wepons, I just try to make them out of existing pieces.

While I would never buy any of the Brickarms stuff myself. It's great that users of this site can benefit from a promotion should they want to.

I echo others comments that people can skip over if they are not interested. It's not as if anyone is suggesting they get added to the set database.

Thanks to all involved for another promotion available to the community.

Would this sentiment remain so civil and open-minded if it were a promotion for Mega Bloks?

Personally, I feel Huw can do whatever he wants with his site, including promoting Chowren however he wants. I think it's great there are options like this. My feeling is stuff like Brickarms is filling a void that Lego chooses not to do (guns). Things like Kree-o and such are simply competitors to Lego. Then there are things like Nanoblocks and K'nex, which I actually tend to like because they are different enough from Lego to be their own thing as opposed to "copying" Lego.

@Chowren
How 'bout a promotion for reitred Star Wars sets. I don't know about most of the people here but I am sure any Star Wars fans would wlecome the chance to pick up some older stuff that would help them build their army.

I don't want to give away too much information, but that is the theme we have in mind for December.

Although I prefer Brickforge, because I know their quality, customer service, and selection is excellent, I'm sure Brickarms has great guns and similar weapons.

I'm surprised that LEGO doesn't try to officially partner with some of these custom part makers...

By in United States,

I will admit that when I first heard of Brickarms, I was very skeptical. I bought a few (I think it was about $20 worth) in my first order, and I've made 3 or 4 since, always getting bigger. The quality of Will's products is seriously right on par with Lego's, if not better! 3rd party stuff does scare some people away, but once you get a brickarm's weapon, you will love them forever! Now other 3rd party companies do make parts and stuff too, but none are as clean and perfect as brickarms. Brickarms makes the kind of guns that you would find in a lego set, had lego not opted to stay away from military things

By in United States,

Does anyone else realize 50% of the guns look like halo 4 weapons like the rail gun or the battle rifle

the X-series is based off of halo ;)
