Advent day 3

Posted by ,

Advent day 3 The Christmas tree in the City calendar today certainly makes up for yesterday's lack of parts, I think you will agree.

It's very similar to those that have been in previous year's calendars, although having just checked, it's nothing like the one we had last year.

The 2 x 2 x 2 slope at the top is not common, although they don't really have much use other than for the tops of trees, do they...

Advent day 3 The street lamp in the Friends calendar is not too bad I suppose, although the decoration is perhaps a bit on the large side, and the lamp post could do with being a bit taller: Olivia could reach up and burn herself on it!

Advent day 3In the Star Wars calendar we have some Gungan military hardware, some sort of power-shield, isn't it?

It's a good day for parts. The models are okay but I think their constituent parts are better.

City -- 8, a nice festive model and plenty of big, bulky parts.
Friends -- 7, design could be better.
Star Wars -- 7, complements yesterday's figure perfectly.

You've seen to have forgotten the toilet roll flinger the Gungan's use. It seems in a galaxy far, far away, they have blue rolls :P

Sorry, couldn't resist ;)

I assume tomorrow we're moving away from the Gungan/Fire stuff in SW and City.

This format doesn't display pictures on my "Virus blocked" computer. Can you please use the other format? The one ususally used for set photos?

Please

I love these Gungan shields, the only issue I have with the Star Wars model is that we are given a spear rather than a Cesta like in the Battle Of Naboo set which I would have preferred, I agree completely about that Christmas tree though, a rather nice model, albeit very similar to the tree last year.

Speaking of that scale of Christmas tree, has anybody ever seen a really good incarnation of a Minifigure scale indoor Christmas tree? I am looking for one for a small vignette and I want it to look as good as possible. Thanks.

What are the day 1 scores?
How many baubles did you get for your tree? Because from the picture you seem to have 8 I only got 6. Or did you add some?

^^^ They are at flickr, there shouldn't be a problem, and a lot of the images I use for news stories are referenced in the same way.

^ I added some.

I think I'm getting the Star Wars advent calendar since it is now only $40 (although $30-$35 would be better )

Speaking of SW, I saw the calendar for sale on Shop at Home for $25.00. I'm not sure what other countries are like. I don't have any reason to order it until it is that cheap in stores.

Thanks for showing us the different builds. I'm keeping the Friends calendar sealed until my daughter is older and can appreciate it more.

I actually really like the street lamp, even though it is shorter. But I like the idea for the light. I may borrow that for my Modular layout. It looks better than the generic white pole with the clear head.

And to answer the above question in regards to a good minifig scaled tree. I really like the tree in the new Winter Village Cottage. It seems to be the right proportions with the bricks used.
