By in United Kingdom,

Yes! That's great, but the Republic Swamp Speeder is a tad expensive at £29.99, I was expecting closer to £19.99. Luke's Landspeeder looks OK, but the Imperial Flagship, that will certainly be a winner. Expensive at £139.99 but you can't put a price on perfection!

By in Germany,

They're available in australia too. At $60, $50 and $280 respectively.

Blinky is right but they look very cool

Think yourself lucky that 8092 is only $30 -- the $ equivalent price in the UK is $48.

By in United States,

When do you think the lego city airport sets will show up?

By in United Kingdom,

Some of the prices are going up by rediculous amounts, I think that some products will inevitably not sell in anywhere near the numbers they need to in order that the licence fees make sense long term. It is strange that the pricing is not consistent either some sets with circa 200 pieces are £19.99 and similar sets are £29.99, 8085 and 8091 being prime examples, then you haver 7753 - pirate tank at £31.99 and 8088 - ARC-170 at £49.99 with similar piece counts. I know there is more to it than that but on the face of it there seems to be something wrong somewhere.

But its not only the affiliated products, just look at the price increase in the new firestation set, previous one had 600 pieces and was £45 (7945), the new one (7208) has 662 pieces but is listed at £60, now even adding 10% to the price for the piece increase means that it has gone up by 20% in 2 years, I thought the RPI in the UK was negative in recent months.

By in Japan,

@Pulpdiction: look at the value of the British Pound - in the 2 years your measuring the Pound has lost 20+% to the Danish Krone. So from LEGO's point of view the prices have been kept more or less stable over the last 2 years - it would be interesting to compare the same numbers from a EURO country (the Danish Krone is "tied" to the EURO, so there would not be a significant price change from exchange rate fluctuations)

By in United States,

Face it, the minifigures you receive in Luke's Landspeeder make the set worth the price, despite the piece count. As for the swamp speeder, I might get it if I have the money. Hey Huw, the Build-a-Buzz and Build-a-Zurg sets are also available now in the Toy Story theme! Each are $24.99 and come with an alien.

By in United States,

The Lego Stores have most of them in stock, too - of course the one set I was looking for yesterday (the land speeder) wasn't in yet, darn it. But the gigantic Pirate ship and the other new Star Wars / Toy Story / etc sets were on the shelves.

Had to console myself with the 8970 Robo Attack, which had been marked down to $37. :)

The small car from city looks really cool.

By in United States,

I'm going to go to Target later and see if they have any of the new sets, since Target is the closest thing to a LEGO store around here. Hopefully I dont go over $50 :P

Gravatar
By in United States,

I saw the Flagship and some new Star Wars sets at my LEGO Store yesterday. No swamp speeder, though

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Goddammit I just ordered some sets just before the landspeeder came in!!! I can't order more sets so soon!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Pulpdiction, it seems that the Star Wars sets with limited appeal, those that are mainly aimed at collectors and not that attractive to kids, command the highest price. The Pirate Tank and now the Swamp Speeder are good example. After all, if you were a kid with £30 to spend, would you buy something that barely makes an appearance in the series or something more familiar?

By in United States,

8190 Claw Catcher and 8191 Lavatraz are still unavailable in the NA, however.......

But there's a chance that those 2 sets would be released later (i.e. in summer like the go-kart and BBQ impulse) so we'll have to wait and see.

By in United States,

the swamp speeder looks okay, kinda disappointed they didn't at least appear to have changed the episode III clone trooper, but of course the price will be high since the box says limited edition on it. I still like it because the model IS pretty sharp looking and it has more battle droids than most sets these days. I'm still interested in the TIE Defender though, because frankly I think that going into the EU is better than rehashing some of the same stuff.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@WedgeAntilles-The Episode 3 clone is slightly changed from the previous one, there is more detail on the chestplate with like tiny pieces of battle damage etc.

Anyway, I have the set, picked it up in Brighton Lego Store. I had to ask at the counter though because they weren't on display, they had some in the back room and I bought it, it is very nice, and slightly bigger than the original one in the wookie catamaran, the figures are pretty nice but it still isn't worth the price...

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Unknown User2596- They will be out before summer! Remember how the two small ones that are available in NA were NOT available in Europe? It was some sort of distribution error; they sent the small ones over here and the large ones in Europe. They fixed the problem in Europe, but have yet to do so in NA.

@ WedgeAntilles and capnrex: Not only is the torso new, but if you look at the helmet, the mouth has the same grilled pattern like the Stormtrooper! :O

The Imperial Flagship is now "Backorders accepted, expected ship date 29 Jan 2010" for most countries, except USA which have a 5 limit per customer.

Gravatar
By in United States,

All the new lego's are more expensive just compare the Knights castle to the Trolls mountain fortress both are $100 but one has far less pieces and is half the size

Gravatar
By in Bolivia,

To be honest, even while I am not a pirate fan that flag ship is awesome. It would impress anyone that's not even into LEGO *drools*

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Tescos have the Ben 10 sets as well as the town car and the Toy Story RC set. Think Luke's landspeeder is expensive as it isn't too dissimilar to the last version and that wasn't too big

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Republic Swamp Speeder is awesome!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Yoda 56 - But very expensive!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

they also have the city off road fire truck and speed boat

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I have to say that Star Wars do have a premium placed on them which I think is unfair as Lego will probably sell more Star wars than most other themed products. Take 8091 Swamp Speeder and 8092 Luke's Landspeeder, the swamp speeder is £29.99 for a product that looks rubbish and isn't even famous like the land speeder which at £24.99 is very expensive for what it is. I can see the swamp speeder going on clearance sale in 6-12 months. It's another example of George Lucas royalties ruining it for star wars fans like myself!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

yeah snapey, but they are still too awesome to resist, and I am getting the landspeeder myself.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Star Wars Legos are exorbitant. Nothing new here. Lego knows where it can take advantage of its customers.

Gravatar
By in United States,

the first couple years they were decently priced, the original Arc-170 lego is basically the same and has the same piece count but is 20 dollars less that shows the price increase.

one was 40 the other is 60

By in United States,

Truth be told, this is probably the first year in a few that I'm not finding many sets of interest. I've always heavily leaned toward the space/sci fi/fantasy sets, and with no Castle, Mars Mission or other equivalent, there's not a lot on my 2010 wishlist (Atlantis just isn't doing it for me).

Even the Star Wars sets seem lacking, especially considering the expense. I assume Lego has a "special" set or two they haven't announced, since all the ones so far (including those presumed for the second wave in the summer) aren't that impressive (and no large sets). The only definite must-have for me is the Imperial Flagship. And maybe the Toy Story army men and the snow troopers.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Well i will get the landspeeder aswell 'starwarsgeek101' but not the swamp speeder as i don't like it and the price is ridiculous. And mainly because i'm a star wars fan the swamp speeder isn't a classic ship like the millenium falcon or landspeeder and has no meaning!!

I would like to see lego make a ucs of the A-wing, that would look good!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Interesting that a lot of the new sets (as well as some of last year's sets, particularly what 2008 sets are still hanging around) are on backorder for a while...some into Februrary and others late this month such as the X-wing and Luke's Landspeeder. I'm sure glad I got my Republic Attack Gunship for Christmas and don't have to wait until February! Also, is it just me, or did the quality of reviews on LEGOShop.com go down, or am I just so used to the high quality we get here on Brickset?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@WedgeAntilles I always check the euro brick reviews they provide great pictures so you can really get to see the set as if it was in your hands

Gravatar
By in United States,

yeah i only use that site sparingly but a lot of folks have some great reviews here like i just saw an awesome one on the 10188 Death Star set...it really helps to see videos like that.

By in United Kingdom,

Can't believe the prices of the new Star Wars stuff. If you thought the Mos Eisley Cantina set was a rip off well in my opinion so is the new landspeeder - shan't' be getting it as it looks exactly like the previous one in the Mos Eisley set except for the odd brick and minifig - and i have lots of spares to cover that. What with James May's real sized 2 storey Lego House (he actually lived in if you missed it) on UK national TV and the shops running out of Lego over Christmas, Lego have never had it so good here. Our reward for this loyalty - we are charged even more for the new sets!

Have they not heard there is a recession on and we in the UK are unfortunately still very much in it? All i can say is it was excess profiteering and greed that got us int this mess in the first place, but to price small sets this high that are aimed primarily at children when their parents are struggling to make ends meet is a total rip off. I am almost becoming a conciencious objector to buying any more Lego on the basis that they need to get real with some of their pricing. Perhaps if we all vote with our feet and refuse to buy overpriced sets we can pick up the surplus stock in the sales when they have a clear out - which is where I got my Mos Eisley - paid half price in the sale.

If you have read this rant then thanks, but i feel better for having said it! If you agree let's try and persuade Lego to reduce prices to what is reasonable - £15 would be a better price for the Landspeeder - certianly no more than £20.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Totally agree Monty, lego has and always be expensive but I think it's diabolicle that lego charge more for star wars models than any other theme when it's probably more popular than most anyway. Lego seriously need to lower the prices of the star wars range by say 15-20% i order to make it fair.

I also don't understand why Lego is cheaper in America than in the UK, I mean Denmark is only like 100 miles away from England so shipping costs will be a hell of a lot less than that of shipping to America!!!!

So your morals out Lego try and help us out here!!!!
