I have a couple of annoucements to make:

  • The wallpaper archive, launched 2 weeks ago now has over 900 wallpapers in it! It started off with my collection of around 400 and since then I've been inundated with additions and I'd like to thank everyone who has sent them to me: sjuip, Michael N, Mitchell, Kevin30, Carolyn, Brickmatt, Christopher and last, but certainly not least, because he contributed over 400 Bionicle ones: Bruno! Thanks to you all. Please keep them coming!
  • The more observant among you (Alemas :-) ) will have already noticed that I've added additional images under the main one on the set detail pages. I've had the feature running for 2 days but didn't announce it straight away in case it overloaded the server and I needed to remove it. It doesn't seem to have so it can stay. I hope to enable you all to contribute set images soon so we can get a good collection going.

That's all for now but keep watching this space: the next batch of our exclusive images of rare old sets will be published soon!

BTW, can't you add the additional images from BRICKLINK? It would be nice having the additional images of 8880 Super Car here at Brickset! :)

It must take quite a while to build up that large of a collection, considering there probably aren't a large number of different ones on the Lego site at a given time, and some of them might have been out there for a while. Thanks for the mention, by the way.

By in Canada,

So we'll be able to soon submit our own pictures of a set? That should be very useful!

I also checked out the additional pictures of sets and I find them very useful!

@Huw: Here's a suggestion: Why don't you create a page on Wikipedia that talks about Brickset? It would be cool! :) :) :)

Oh! I love them. :) also, I noticed the resolution was too small (For at least my desktop, anyways, but I don't mind). Good work everyone, can't wait to see more.

@LEGOwikiguy, They are at the highest resolution LEGO made them available at. Early ones were only 800x600 or 1024x768. New ones are 1600x1200 which is still too small, and the wrong aspect ratio, for my desktop. Unfortunately they don't do widescreen ones.

Can I have an example of two of more pictures of a set? Or do I have to search for them? :)

EDIT:

@omgbrick, You can always send pictures under "contact us".

Huw here is an idea for the site, why don't put a discription of each theme on the site telling you the history of the themes and maybe the subthemes too. that would really complement the older rarer set picture you're putting on

By in Portugal,

Great hurra, for the alternative images from the models.

But still wonder about some oversized images, which won't fit at the page space, like in 8455 and 8458 just to give some examples.

Somthing I would like to see is some kind of linking of the prices of sets together so that, for instance, the total cost of all the sets released in 2010 can be viewed, or the total in one theme, this would also link into the sets I want which would allow me to see, for example all of the 2010 sets I wants and how much they will cost me. I think the data is there its just linking it together (I know this is a lazyness feature but it would allow some quick budgeting etc).

@Conchas, unfortunately I couldn't use the JavaScript you sent me because it didn't work with the sever-side component I was using to generate the Highslide links. However, now there's a means to show more than one image I will probably resize all those >690px wide then make the larger version available as an additional image.

@Pulpdiction, I'm planning to develop some sort of 'collection manager' which will make it possible to do this sort of thing and a lot more besides. I just need to find the time to do it...
