Exo Suit in its Final Week (Day?) and a Mecha Showcase

Posted by ,

Peter Reid's Exo Suit is in its final days on Cuusoo with less than 200 support to 10k.

The deadline is far far away so this is more of an informative posting than a last minute request like the one for Space "Marines/Troopers."

Regardless, how about we give this thing the final push? It is a marvelous build with more greeble than I would think possible on a structure standing on two thin legs.

If you like exo-suits, hard-suits, mecha, power armor or what have you, here are the next thirteen "Mecha" themed projects coming down the line (in order of support).

It would be very interesting to see if Brickset readers could fill the weekly Leaderboard (Top 10) with Mecha come Sunday.

Update: The Exo Suit has reached "Achieved" status.

This makes the most supported "un-achieved" Mecha project the Valkyrie

Macross VF-1 Valkyrie +Fast pack / Armored parts

What follows is the next twelve most supported Mecha projects on Cuusoo.

Hardsuits

This project includes three suits all just a bit bigger than a minifig. The third is my personal favorite.

Prototype Attack Mecha Alpha Zero

This is one of the first projects on Cuusoo with an identifier of 52. Its "bulk" is rather unique for the mechs on Cuusoo and I especially love the X pattern on the chest.

Avengers: Iron Man Mark VII

This is only a few weeks old and is already the 4th most supported mech on Cuusoo. Very poseable and clever use of parts.

Though not Mecha, Mmccooey has several other hero builds based on this build concept.

Legend of Korra: Mecha Tank, Korra, Amon, Hiroshi, & Supporter's Choice

A rather accurate recreation of the Mecha Tank, if I do say so myself.

Mechwarrior Battletech Atlas

Another great offering from Czar, the crafter of the Rifter.

Microfig Mecha

This mecha is scaled for the microfig line. If this build appeals to you make sure to check out CrashSanders other projects as they have a series of similar projects.

Technic Exo Suit

A mecha for Toa! This one is BIG!

Aneroth has a few other bionicle creations you might want to check out

Batmech

"Greg" actually has several Comic related Mecha of a similar design. I can't help but think that given the scale of Batman's Cowl that this body almost looks more accurately sized than the fig.

Warhammer 40,000 maxi-figures

From what I have been told, Warhammer never options out its license, and I doubt Lego will go with the game anyway. But this is a great build none the less.

Micro Mecha Series

Some very small mechs with Clever designs.

Voltron

I am really impressed with how accurately Voltron is portrayed here. Of course there are more than a few custom parts.

Blockhead Mecha

I think these are absolutely brilliant. Very novel, high character, simple building principles with high effect, and a great use of figure legs.

By in United Kingdom,

I love the model and have supported it, but I can only imagine that if this were to pass review it would have been significantly changed to fit in with 'legal' building techniques and the construction would need to be simplified as it looks rather complicated to me, perhaps too complicated for younger builders which Lego would no doubt like to try and include in the target audience.

It's a wonderful design. I signed in to Cuusoo and supported. Good luck!

Exo Suit and Iron Man are my favorite! I really hope Exo Suit gets made as a set.

I don't really like Peter's Exo Suit. It's too greeble-y. It looks ugly.

So greebles aren't your thing. Got it. Ever heard of "if you can't say anything nice..."

The Exo-suit is a shoe-in to be produced when it hits 10K, and it's great that legoloverman gets the recognition that his stellar designs deserve; good call by him asking Mark Stafford to design the LEGO set as well - let's hope LEGO listens !

It's not that I don't like greebles, it's just that the mech is practically nothing but greebles.

I supported this project in early April...it was just so great that I HAD to support it.

I saw the Exo Suit model at the GWLS at Steam, it's great and I hope it passes review.

Supported earlier today. Hopefully this passes. It could definitely add to my future themed games.

Long live exo force!

If this AND Space Troopers get passed, I would put the Trooper in the mech for maximum awesome!

And we're left with 14 more votes left until the 10K mark as of now. It's going to get all the votes it needs in an hour if my guesstimate of about twenty supporters per hour is correct. Let's hope it does!

Just reached the 10, 000 mark. Can't wait to see if this actually passes!

Congtrats Pete! It has to pass, let's hope the final design doesn't compromise the original model too much.

I struggle to imagine a less stable design. This mecha can hardly carry its own weight. Might be fun for a moc, but imo very little suitable for a product.

^ Are you saying that based on its appearance, or have you actually built or handled Peter's model? I'd definitely like to know, because if it is really delicate, the odds of a dumbed-down re-design are much greater.

The shin has connections with a pneumatic T-part inside a axle hole. It's a big no-go for LEGO Designers.

I like the look of the set, but I gotta be honest, this thing's not getting a pass. Besides the redesign that would have to essentially remove everything that makes this set what it is, it's just something that LEGO can and has and will make anyways.

And I think that's a major aspect of CUUSOO that people aren't attributing enough weight to. [Same reason I think Space Matroopers will not get a pass.]

For pure personal gain I rather hope this model makes it past review (unlikely as it is) and lands on Mark Stafford's desk. My building table is right next to Mark's, and his rants are legendary ... prime time entertainment ensured! ;)

^^ I joked in the project's comments that it will fail review because by then, Lego will have acquired the license for "Exo Suit: The Movie"

Congrats to those inches away and beyond the finishing line!

If these sets ever gets made , hope for once LEGO do justice to the original builder and not go too far in changing the core aesthetics . Every successful implementation brings extra hope to the rest of the aspiring builders in the sideline .
