Toy fair report

Posted by ,

I'm at the toy fair, I'm taking a look round before my appointment on the LEGO stand at 1 pm. Usually, it's possible to see into the stand from the gallery above but this year, they have covered the ceilings with cloth so nothing much is visible. Unusually, there is no fancy artwork or large models in sight around the outside of the stand either, so it's looking like there will not be much to photograph.

Through the cloth ceilings, I can see that The Lone Ranger sets are on display, along with Galaxy Squad.

I'll try and update this article later, after my visit, but will wait until I'm home before posting a full report.

Barry from Brick Fanatics already has some info on whats in the stand. Follow the link, he's updating it on the go, his tour started at 11:30 am and it's on some kind of break. He has already seen Ninjago, City, Star Wars and Super Heroes.

By in United States,

I got really excited there for a moment until I realized you meant Galaxy Squad, not Galaxy Quest.

"By Grabthar's Hammer............ what a savings."

Hmm... the report from Barry on Brickfanatics.co.uk mentions the inclusion of an exclusive Jango Fett minifig with this year's Star Wars advent calender set. That'll make the kids happy! (edited due to bricksan's correction: thanks!)

Anyway set details for Star Wars, Friends, Galaxy Squad, Lone Rangers, Castle and a few others have been added to list.

Plus series 10 will feature 8 hidden gold minifigs!!

By in United Kingdom,

Interesting reading on the report concerning LOTR sets.

So the special Palantir piece for Wizard's Battle will be Sauron's eye on a figure head. Fair enough.
The LOTR sets are not too badly priced bearing in mind what figures are in them. Certainly getting Wizard Battle & Black Gate, will probably pass on the Council and see what happens with the Pirate Ship.

LEGO are clearly keen to keep their new figures under wraps if all of the sets had 'preliminary' figures. No news on Orthanc, so this will probably be later in the year.

Huw!!! I can't believe it! It's Galaxy Squad, not Galaxy Quest! ;)

By in United Kingdom,

Could you let me know about the superheroes sets, any sign of Flash or other figures which were used in the Game. Or does it look more Man of Steel orientated

hope you are enjoying it

Truly, we are all never giving up and never surrendering when it comes to tripping up on the "Galaxy Quest" name similarity.

What exactly is "Eight hidden golden minifigs"...? :S
And boy oh boy 2013 looks like I need a really good job. :P
Superman sets, War Machine in a set(YES!), Lone Ranger, Castle(potentially if it's any good...), LotR, The Hobbit, Galaxy Squad, CMF, Friends animal polys.... Just so much goodness to buy....
Also is it possible Huw to see if the Castle sets have torso printing like Kingdoms or is it more kidish. And if the horses have new head armor?

With the inclusion of Batgirl in micro-scale for the board game who thinks we might get her in minifig form?

And as others have pointed out it's 'Galaxy Squad' not 'Galaxy Quest', also 'ceiling' not 'ceiing'.

@arl100: The report mentions a minifigure head with an Eye of Sauron print. I suspect this will not be used for the Palantir in the Wizard Battle set, but for the Eye of Sauron in the Black Gate set.

By in United States,

The Eye of Sauron isn't in the Black Gate set. There will be a minifig of the Mouth of Sauron though...

Can't wait to know the detail..

@EdmondDantes: The set's description begins with "Fly the Great Eagle high above the Black Gate of Mordor where Aragorn and Gandalf the White must distract the Eye of Sauron." Also, the Eye is visible in the leaked image, at the top of the tower. It isn't obvious that it's a minifigure head, but it is there.

I hope they have the Lord of the Ring sets there...

By in Europe,

I think that head price is from a orc on the tower but I could be wrong. Very excited about the lord of the rings and a few star wars sets. Definitely want a few sh mos sets and im3 as well

By in United States,

^ Yes, sorry for the misinformation; that is indeed an orc head. Even so, what seems to be the Palantir in the Wizard Battle set looks too large to be a head. Of course, these are preliminary images so I suppose it's a bit pointless to speculate.

By in United Kingdom,

The prices on some of those Star Wars sets is pretty extortionate, particularly the Gunship (a £40 increase after 5 years) and Sail Barge (I was expecting closer to about £70 for that). I am really hoping we see another couple of waves of Batman sets next year. For the moment however the game sounds good though and having some Microfigures of the characters would be great!
