Minifigures.co.uk: a new online shop for custom figs

Posted by ,

It's a slow time for news... since the Simpsons bombshell was dropped last week, all the RSS feeds I monitor have been dormant and my mailbox is empty: there's nothing happening worth reporting at all...

So, what better time, then, to introduce you to a new online store that specialises in custom minifigs: Minifigures.co.uk.

"We launched the Minifigures.co.uk shop in January 2013 to sell Premium Custom Minifigures from top designers around the world such as eclipseGrafx, Christo, Minifigs4U and Green Pea Toys. We also sell custom weapons from Combat Brick." says Brickset reader Andrew Clapham, who helps run the site. "What might interest your readers is that we try and source new polybags and sell them at reasonable prices. We currently have polybags from the LEGO Super Heroes, Lord of the Rings, Ninjago and Star Wars themes, and are on the look out for all the 2013 releases."

Sounds like it's worth checking out...

Thanks Huw for the post!

The site does have smoke coming out of it's ears from the Brickset effect - sorry if you get an error!

Hopefully if you try again it should be ok now.

This website sucks..........

By in United States,

Site works fine for me… I wonder how much shipping would be to the USA for some of those polys.

Not many official minifigs in stock, but Greedo is very competitively priced at £20.

As the online shop is only a couple months old we are have quite a lot of stock on order and waiting for it to arrive. The best bet is to join our Facebook page (link on our home page) for regular updates.

Looks like a cool site

My biggest complaint is the prices and it's over seas, I don't trust ordering anything from over seas due to customs.

That's a nice looking site, it definitely has the potential to be successful.
I've never been interested in custom figs but they look alright, can't afford to start collecting them too though!
Good luck with the site.

Speaking of that, I still have to finish my own customs...

I've encountered a bit of trouble due to the lack of medieval-themed parts... I may have to experiment with trying to make my own...

Love the custom Storm and Rogue. I really hope LEGO starts doing X-Men sets, I'm not a fan of the Avenger and Spiderman. I assume because Disney/Marvel does not own the movie rights to the mutants they would rather LEGO focus on Avengers.

Looks like a nice idea and all, but I have some concerns with all those unlicensed (i assume) superheroes figs being made and sold for profit, I can't help but wonder at how they're going to avoid legal issues down the line the moment they get noticed.

Maybe individual sellers/fig-makers have been small enough until now to stay under the radar, and never get pursued (possibly this will too), but bundled together under one roof like this might start to attract unwanted attention from actual license holders. Also, TLG itself might even take issue with there being potential here for brand confusion between official lines and unlicensed home-brew figs, (as it looks like they're selling official figs too).

Be careful you don't get yourselves shut down en masse by Marvel/DC/TLG/Lucas or whoever else might be out there with £$millions wrapped up in license agreements... and with that thought, should Brickset be endorsing unofficial lines? I mean, we all go to so much trouble here to stay in TLG's good books, would hate to see that relationship spoiled.

As said, nice idea, but just thought i'd offer a word or three of caution to all concerned, that's all. :o)

@HUW: April Fool's is coming. I hope you have something like last year!

Are "Emerald", "Tempest" and such characters real X-men lookalike characters, or those names are just to avoid copyright issues? If the second, they failed.

I think you need to separate Sales from Reviews.

How much stock do you actually have? I click on something you are selling, then on for example the STAR WARS tag, then on another character and I am reading a review, not a purchase page.

It looks like a small bricklink store, wanting to appear much bigger than it actually is by space filling with reviews.

I'd seriously think about getting some stock and relaunching it. Keep the reviews separate from the sales.

I think you also need to define what you mean by "the quality is second to none and even better then LEGO". For example - is that about detail or about longevity of the print?

^^^^ The LEGO company does not have an issue with people producing and selling customised minifigs: in fact they have guidelines available regarding the use of the word 'LEGO' in such products etc.

Whether DC/Disney etc. does, is another matter, of course.

@aaclapham all i want is that custom flash on the side. :D You start selling that one, I might buy it. The one for sale is not the same.

By in United States,

Might pick up 1 or 2 but I just don't know about how much shipping will cost to the U.S and most of the time it is not pretty.

Nice. Now make me some costume Star Wars ones.

This looks like total copyright infringement. They aren't even subtle, name dropping the X-Men all over. They deserve the 'cease and desist' warning they will soon get.

Just to let everyone know we have restocked on the Super Heroes/LOTR/Monster Fighters polybags.
