By in Canada,

I snuck a peek of the flyer on Tuesday and was surprised to see a 2012 set already %40 off. I think that's stingy for a sale which is usually summed up with the captions "we want these off our shelves", and considering none of these sets were high on my list, %50 off would've been the line for me. I was never interested in Palpatines Arrest, and $70+ is still too rich for my blood. I don't mean to sound like a downer, but ever since TRU pulled the majority of their good sales (after 2011) I haven't been in the buying mood even if I get an extra discount. When you're stuck paying 20% more, 12% taxes, on top of whatever few dollars TRU decides to charge; having a 50% off sale every once and a while would be giving us a break... considering the fact that they're bleeding me dry the rest of the year!!!

And am I the only one who has been curious when TRU is planning on throwing the Friends lego on sale? I've been checking the flyer every week since 2012 just for the chance at buying some of those sets even if it's only at 20% off.

By in Canada,

The set number of the City "Mining Truck" is 4202, not 4702. 4702 is Harry Potter "The Final Challenge".

@Ypres, It must just be where you live. If you have 12% taxes, does that mean you live in BC? Because I lived in BC for a few years, and their prices were insanely (no hyperbole here) higher than the rest of Canada, even before taxes. In Alberta tax is only 5%, and just last week I found a TRU sale of the "Cargo Train" 7939 for just over 60% off! (Along with some other sets that were on sale as well, but I can only afford to buy one set at a time.)

@Khillasaurus, yes I live in BC. Apparently we're now going back from having the HST to getting the GST+PST again... although it makes no difference if I'm buying Lego. Clearly the TRUs in BC and the TRUs in Alberta are worlds apart. I have not even seen a Cargo Train 7939 in stock for the longest time, let alone ever seen it marked down. I scan my local TRU flyers weekly for any hint of a Lego deal, and I'm positive one hasn't slipped under my radar. I would've jumped at the chance to get the 7939 for 60% off... but nothing even close to that appeared in my local TRU. Dohh!

Pet Shop (10218) is on at 20% off too. And here in ON we get to pay 13% on top of TRU's usually inflated prices!

By in Canada,

I dont mind paying 71 for a 645 piece count (palpatine set). Its near my golden price of 10 cents a piece.

Being from BC I dont think we are any worse off then the rest of Canada, personally...

Like everywhere there are rare sales to be had, we just have to make sure we share the news.

By in Canada,

Once again TRU isn't really offering much. I am disappointed with the sale and regular price for Palpatine's Arrest. It's not much of a set to be honest, just the figures and extremely overpriced in my opinion. It would be great to have a Lego store in London and not just 3 in Toronto give TRU some competition to reduce some of their prices. Most of the time though I think Canadians are being gouged in a big way when it comes to sets. It's also one thing to pay $80 for a set and then get smacked with 13% tax. For being so close to the US market its appalling that we are treated like goods in Australia...

Just checked my local Toys R Us. They had a open series 10 minifigures box and i checked all of it and found no Mr. Gold!
