'Teamed up with Argos'? What, you're just going to throw that out there like it wasn't an amazing step into a wider world... How did that happen, Huw?

Also: 'Closing date' for entries, and 'Winners notified' when? (in case i need to go buy the set, when i discover i didn't win! lol)

The closing date is on the form Ts & Cs, Wednesday 21st May 2013. I'll announce the winner on the Thursday.

Ah yes, so it was. My mistake. I didn't read the small print (never wise), just entered the competition and wondered about the date.
Thanks... now, as for the partnering thing, you seem to have missed answering that bit... LOL ;o)

Also it says closing date is the Wednesday 21st of May, the 21st is a Tuesday. :-)

I hope you realize, Huw + Argos, that you can find the answer to that question merely by searching the Web... :D ;)

How is residency determined? I ask because I'm a UK resident, but my email address has a different country TLD.

By in United States,

How do you pronounce the name Huw? I thought it was Hue but I don't know for sure. Second darn I was gonna get another Kraang lab escape and build the thing on lego.com/turtles ..... oh well!

Argos is like, huge right? And they are giving away one of the smallest sets there is? One of them? What am I missing here.

Isn't it funny how silly comments often go on to create the most unexpected discussions. LOL

^ Yes, Argos are rather big, and big companies in the UK usually ignore fan-sites completely. Hence my (pleasant) surprise that they had favoured brickset in such a way - just recognising such sites exist is often an entire battle in itself. So I was surprised at the lack of fanfare, that's all. No biggee.

:o)

The reason, without going into any detail: SEO

I'm in the US, but is there anyway for me to enter to offer the prize as a donation to the closest children's hospital?

@Psymon. No need to write like I'm a 5 year old. I'm not stupid. And besides, did I ask 'Why'? No i didn't. But I guess it was just my turn to wish I never spoke, huh. :o/

I was merely surprised at the lack of fanfare (we don't want to get complacent now do we?)...

To explain my comment (for one last time for those who are hard of understanding): fansites are usually pleased when they (instead of a competitor) get national recognition from large retailers, as it indicates they're the best in their field, hence the opportunity to sing your own praises and the associated fanfare you usually see when it happens.

But hey, maybe Argos do this all the time here at brickset, and I've simply forgotten (my memory isn't great - so no joke, this is possible).

If it helps any, just forget I said anything. I'm an idiot, and you win the internet. Everyone happy now?

:o)

There are companies that have the likes of Argos as clients who are engaged to improve their search rankings. Getting a quality inbound link to the Argos toy and LEGO pages from here is probably worth far more than the competition prize (which I was actually given initially to review, but we've already reviewed it), so you could say I'm selling out.

It's not really 'recognition from large retailers', I suspect Argos itself is not even aware.

^ haha! Take that Psymon, with your marketing for dummies type post. :oD

LOL. (i'm only joshing you).

Well, that's actually quite interesting @huw, even though i don't understand any of it to be honest. I was just happy to see a competition, really.

Right... time for a cuppa', methinks! (or should that be pizza... cowabunga dudes!)

Just saying, from my viewpoint, this works against Argos because it makes them (regardless of the source) look really cheap. Maybe next time they can have a 2nd place where you get a lollipop or something.

Of course I'm in the US, so I'm irrelevant for this one :)

@Psymon - Well, there is little if anything else under discussion here... so, looking back over the posts, I fail to see what other topic of discussion your comment would relate to. And, apart from Huw's response to me, your comment does then follow on from one of mine, and is related to the general discussion I inadvertently brought up at the very start.

However, my humblest apologies if you didn't intend to post in a condescending manner - i read it that way - or if it wasn't meant as a response to anyone in particular - it just seemed to. Perhaps my 'context radar' was off recently.

TURTLE POWER!
