New polys in the database

You'll notice I've added a number of new photos of polybags to the database, including this one which will be a TRU exclusive sometime in the future. For the avoidance of doubt among other webmasters who are republishing them, all photos were taken by me.

By in Denmark,

Thanks!
After seeing the nice Ferraries I SO looked forward to the BMW (http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=40200-1). Seeing it now I think it doesn't really look very special. The colours are black/Orange. Opposite white/blue. ... well, well... it just went off my 'wanted list'. Would have been great with a lookalike BMW. Nice car!

By in United Kingdom,

Is it just me, or is the giraffe very of the moment right now? Since that hilarious Hangover 3 trailer together they've been everywhere.
(I fear it'll be the only genuinely funny bit in the film, and I like the short edit where it ends with him whining better than the full scene, so the trailer's probably actually funnier than the film! And yes, I know it's the TRU mascot, but there's still the timing.)

It made me think of the MADAGASCAR cartoons... crackalackin'. Unfortunately it has nothing to do with them, so still no lego safari/zoo animals in the foreseeable future.

:o)

I think that TRU uses (or used to use?) a cartoon giraffe to promote the TRU brand to kids. I vaguely recall that the character is called Jeffrey or Geoffrey. Probably why the giraffe poly is a TRU exclusive.

By in Greece,

So the 'Fall Scene' doesn't include any of the new dark red or dark orange limb/leaf parts?
Facepalm LEGO.

You know, that giraffe looks awfully like the giraffe from Madagascar (is his name Malcolm?).

While the Fall Scene seems wildly underwhelming (I imagine that I'm probably gonna buy that, add leaves and just put it in one of my gardens or parks as is), and the Coast Patrol sea-plane seems odd... I LOVE that hot dog stand.

By in Taiwan,

The hotdog stand looks simple and nice; however, not being a new version of City formal sets worries me that TLC don't want to make more big or small sets for daily-life City theme this year.

The fall scene seems to be better than summer but still not a surprise. If more kinds and colors of leaves can be given...

I like the Lawnmower but the Seaplane is dreadful.
As for the Hotdog stand, why not two tan clips per sausage, so it looks like it's in a bread roll?

By in United States,

It is interesting that we are getting small Creator sets centered around mini-figures and their accessories now. You could say that this year's line of seasonal scenes started the trend, but those were not strictly Creator sets (although they certainly could meet the criteria to be designated as such, had Lego chosen to do so).

It makes me wonder when/if we'll start seeing more minifig-centric Creator sets beyond just the houses and buildings as it has been so far (and even then, only recently). To me it seems like it is a bit of a slippery slope, this trend to make Creator more minifig oriented.. At some point the lines between City and Creator could become completely blurred, which has the potential to dilute one of both of the two. When I look at this new Creator Hot Dog Stand as compared to the new Ride on Lawn Mower, for example, it seems arbitrary that they are assigned to two completely different themes.

The lawnmower is nice, but the BMW is not what I expected.
Like the light blue bike in the hotdog stand, must be a first?

The light blue bike debuted in the Friends Camper set last year.

Part of me has really disliked Geoffrey's redesign: http://i2.cdn.turner.com/money/2008/07/07/smallbusiness/geoffrey_loophole.fsb/toys_r_us_giraffe.03.jpg

I grew up on a much different design: http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/hprofile-ak-prn1/23272_134464556568351_5709_n.jpg

But I have to say the redesigned Geoffrey looks way better in LEGO form than the old design ever could! Equal parts adorable and hilarious!

As for the other polybags, the hot dog stand looks neat even if it doesn't resemble any hot dog stands I've ever seen in real life. The fall scene is very evocative, though I know a lot of people would have preferred the actual leaf/branch elements which have lately come out in a number of fall colors to the 1x1 plate with tooth that this set uses as leaves. The design choice is good, though, as sweeping them up individually makes more sense than having the leaves fall in clumps. The use of a push-broom makes me realize that there has never been a LEGO rake designed for minifigures. How odd.

The Christmas tree and lawnmower are nice, the Seaplane slightly less so. The BMW is terribly underwhelming after those gorgeous cars from the Shell promotion. Anyone know if it's meant to resemble any real car, or just a generic off-roader?

I've got the lawnmower and it's very cool as the 'blades' rotate as you push along.

Although I mistook it for a street sweeper initially!

If anyone knows how/where to get the two city sets (each one twice) please leave a comment for me. (30224-30225)

40200 BMW: How the brick does that resemble a BMW? Anyways, looks weird, no interest.
40078 Hot Dog Stand: I like the overall design and the teal bike is new, not?
40077 Geoffrey: First thought, "Melman". :P Looks cool though, wouldn't mid getting one.
40057 Fall Scene: No red or orange leaves, *facepalm* LEGO. But, looks nifty, might pick up one.
30225 Coast Guard Seaplane: Nice! Definitely want this one.
30224 Ride on Lawn Mower: That is..., very interesting.
30186 Christmas Tree: Nifty, if it's easily available I'll pick it up.

Anyone have any information as to where these are available?

A note for Huw, shouldn't the 2008 and 2013 Coast Guard series be classified separately? Like, I and II?

By in United Kingdom,

I am interested in 40057, if only for those cute little amanita muscaria.

By in Denmark,

@Huw... can you explain the "staffshop". Is that an exclusive employes-only-shop at parks and factories??

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The staff shop is part of the Billund headquarters... don't know if they have any in their other factories or offices. Huge discounts and LEGO branded clothing are the big attractions! Strangely they also sell non-LEGO branded clothing too. But don't worry, no Megablocks

By in United States,

the hotdog stand will be the free gift with $75 purchase at LEGO shops in july
