New Lego Book - 2011 Annual

LEGO Official Annual 2011

We've previously reported the 'BrickMaster' Star Wars & Atlantis books due to be released later in the year, but eagle-eyed Brickset member 'winspeardavid3' has spotted a 2011 Annual on Amazon.uk

I'm not sure how widely 'annuals' are known outside of the UK, but they are a staple of Christmas morning here. Looks like Amazon will start shipping this Lego one from August this year.

They are not known to me! What exactly are they?

I second Jayko543. What is an annual?

Annual means to happen once every year; so if some says, "Time for the annual trip to Hawaii." that would mean they go to Hawaii once every year.

Ah, Gotcha! Thanks, all I would of needed was the word "publication" and I would of understood right away!

By in New Zealand,

What a weird piece of cultural trivia... I had always assumed that annuals were a more or less global thing. I guess 'almanack' is another word for them, but I can never tell if it has a 'k' or not.

This is the first Lego annual though, isn't it... I like to be able to collect things from the beginning, so this works for me. Some info that I dug up:

"This awesome "LEGO Official Annual" is packed with puzzles, comics, games, and links to cool online content. There are also tons of stickers to use in the activites and LEGO bricks to build a special mystery item inside. Whether you love LEGO City, Atlantis, Power Miners or Hero Factory - this annual has it all! It is the perfect Christmas present or stocking filler for any LEGO fan."

Publication date: 5th August 2010 in the UK, 30th of August in NZ and AU.
Hardback, 64 pages, 285mm by 216mm
ISBN: 9781409306658

NZ: $19.99
AU: $16.95
GB: $7.99

Thanks so much Bluemoose! I too only needed the word "publication" to understand. I knew what the word "annual" means, but not how it relates to a book.

Hm, so it's like a Brickmaster book, only that it covers most non-licensed themes and includes stickers as well as bricks?

I wonder what the bricks will build? Probably some little City thing :( It would be good if it was something that comemerates 2011

@voyanui8768 if you zoom in on the pic you can tell that '2011' is in bricks; so I'm assuming that anyone who buys this book with get those bricks, maybe a plaque or stand for it, and possibly a minifig or two.

Will that annual be about 2010 or 2011? Just asking because the cover says 2011. ;-)

Annuals are always dated a year in advance so that when you get it for Christmas you don't think you have an old one.

I don't think it's that like the "BrickMaster" books. The BrickMaster books contain a lot of bricks & instructions for multiple models. In general this Annual seems to contain a much broader coverage of Lego-related material, and it sounds like there are many fewer bricks & instructions to build only one thing. Note this is published by 'Ladybird' rather than Dorling Kindersley (who publish many of the other Lego books, including the BrickMaster books).

Oh, yeah, I thought there was a fairly good hint what this was in the title ... 'New Lego BOOK ...' !
