3 for 2 on all toys at Argos

Posted by ,

It's the offer you've been waiting for, and comes just one week after the new sets were added to the catalogue!

Use our Quick Shopper to easily see what's available (set the discount to 0%), or visit the LEGO page at Argos.co.uk to reserve items before you head to the store.

Remember, match 3 items of similar price to maximise your discount!

GREAT! i only wish i had a bit more money

By in United Kingdom,

Would be nice if the stores stocked more than one of the larger sets, can't reserve three worth £79.99 as each store seems to have only 2 available!!!

By in United Kingdom,

Anyone else fancy clubbing together to get 10225 for a £100?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Does anyone know how long the offer lasts?

Until Tuesday

@goldjono I would be interested but how would the mechanics of getting this deal done work ?

Millennium falcon not included????

By in United Kingdom,

You only get the 3 for 2 if you pay at the till in store. You can 'reserve' online an in-store item for pickup later on.

I find it a bit fishy there's nearly always either always none in stock or "1 item left", therefore no multi buys of the same item. Is this an eye catching deal to get you to the site resulting in disappointment for the likes of us?

Update:
I've been searching for a while now... I don't believe the stock amounts quoted online.

^ If an item is out of stock you can order it into store and you pay in store it just has to arrive in store and for you to go in and purchase on or before the 6th of August for you to qualify for 3 for 2 deal. Hence my proposed deal on 10225.

By in United Kingdom,

2nd Update... I see singular items coming and going 'in stock' and 'out of stock' at my local store.

Goldjono: I could be wrong but if it doesn't arrive in time you don't get the deal. Can you pay in advance in store?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

had a think about it and I can get three to my local store in the South West so .. anyone interested in clubbing together ?

drop me a pm

To get around the stock issue, you can collect three items from different stores and the third/cheapest will be free.
Or you can order in-store for home delivery. Pay during the offer and they will be 3 for 2 plus the £5 voucher for the £25 spend.

@ The Baron You're right but you are not commiting to buy if you order into store it's just like reserving.

By in United Kingdom,

I managed to pick up Unexpected Gathering, and Battle of the Black Gate in store, and I ordered in a Pirate Ship Ambush for when the deal is over, but they let me buy a random toy that was the same price (89.99) and I can simply swap the two over when Pirate Ship Ambush arrives.

Tempted by 10225 one too, talking a page out of GoldJono's book - anyone else in the Sheffield area interested? Assuming can get it delivered in-store by Tuesday.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Alternatively wait for a year for a 50% discount on the same sets from Tesco or Asda.

Gravatar

I will forward my complaint to Argos but maybe its only me they irritate? *Rant Alert*

*These offers are never backed up by good stock.
*Every year they list massive reductions on products that are literally nowhere to be found.
*The sluggish website takes two clicks to reserve an item rather than one easy click on each gallery box to get stuff straight in to the basket- thats just poor retailing.
*The clearance products are often nowhere to be found (Catwoman and Monster Fighter Mummy).
*Some products get marked up for an offer (Lex Luthor Robo-Suit Vs Superman and Wonder Woman now £23.99).

*WORST OF ALL: The total absence of a product is only revealed at the checkout phase once you've traipsed through the whole routine so you have to go back and find something else you want and by the time you actually have three items that at least, WERE in stock, someone else has by this point reserved it and it is no longer available at your one local store.

I also have the suspicion they change some prices to avoid three of the same in some cases though I may just be getting silly now :)

I did ok out of it, I had £25 of Nectar vouchers so I only had to spend £20 to get 76004, 76006 and 79101. Also when you buy £25's worth of LEGO you get a £5 voucher.

@CamberBrickGreen: I agree with some of your points but the lack of stock is probably just due to when you ordered; there were rumours of this in the forum and on HUKD yesterday afternoon, so a lot of people (myself included) will have placed speculative reservations on the off chance. I also reserved more than I ended up buying, but the unpurchased stock will only be available now that the store has closed and the reservation expired. So my advice is keep checking stock!
Clearance stock by is nature is just what stores have left over so it's understandable that it's not available everywhere.

I complained about the "phantom" old sets at bargain prices months ago (Prince of Persia set, I'm looking at you!!) told it would be removed but still there >:-(
I have no idea why Power Armour Lex has had the price hiked and I think you're completely right, it should be quicker to reserve.

Overall though I was happy to get the Tumbler, LR Stagecoach and Council of Elrond for £30 as I had vouchers - plus I received another £5 voucher :-))

By in United Kingdom,

These really good offers always seem to appear exactly when I'm struggling for money. I feel myself lured in to place a reservation, but I have to stop myself and say 'You've bought enough today!'. Annoying dwindling summer fund that disappears as soon as I turn my back (open my wallet)...

:-P

Bring on October :-)

I have an "Argos" tin in the house where I save all year for this kind of deal. Managed to get all the new sets except the Jek Starfighter which I feel is overpriced. Also bought 3 10225's, one for myself and two for a pal who likes to open one and keep one sealed.
I agree with CamberbrickGreen's comments regarding stock. I've never been able to buy three of any of the big sets from the stores. The 10225's are an order in but the other sets (Jabba's Sailbarge, Republic Gunship and AT-TE...only one of these each in stock.

By in United Kingdom,

I don't understand this '3 for 2' offer at all. Take the Millennium Falcon, for example. When you display all the LEGO sets with thumbnails on one page, it says there are 5 special offers on the Falcon. However, when you click on the Falcon and are taken to its product page, there are only 3 offers, and '3 for 2' isn't one of them.

And this offer is supposed to be for ALL toys. However, there are many LEGO sets which appear NOT to be part of the offer: 7939, 75021, 75020, 42000, 60004, 60022, 70705. And that's just a few of them. There are quite a few other sets that appear not to be included.

Overall, this offer seems to be a bit of a mess.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Sabreman64: It's an in-store only offer, it won't appear on the website when you're at the checkout. I thought the same until I checked, but it genuinely is for 'all toys'.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

One of the bad things about Argos is that anything on offer is never in any of my nearest stores.
I know this is off topic but Eurobricks has a review of Lego Minifigures series 11 by WhiteFang also the Argos website lists series 11 but you can't buy any of them yet.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@LostInTranslation
'speculative reservation' so now I know who hid all the stock! How do you get round all the stores so fast? :p Sounds like you got a really good deal and yes its cruel how the 'phantom' set you want just sits there unavailable at an incredibly low price. If only I could use phantom money.

Ok so if many customers reserve lots more than they buy, yes Argos should have more stock to account for this!
Even if I found time to check or spot rumours on the forum I personally couldn't reserve more than I want/could afford incase it denied others (like kids) the chance to buy because the offer and reservation period is only a few days so the weekend is the only available chance for most people to get a deal.

Past my moan I did eventually find a deal and used my £5 voucher immediately on some CMFs. I used all my nectar points to 'squeeze' the deal further.

@ number5 I will be down in York on business for 3 weeks from the 11th and have a spare 10225 that I could bring to sheffield as I was planning a visit to the Lego Store. PM me if you are interested.

By in United Kingdom,

1. I wish this deal was on in october
2. I just bought Kai's fire mech (for some reason on argos it's called Kai's fire match)
3. Just when I hardly have any money

If it was nearer christmas that would be great also there is two pictures of surge on the website but one is called stormer.

I work for Argos, and while we get massive deliveries of toys leading up to these kind of offers, we are always limited in the amount of Lego stock that we get in. I don't know whose fault it is, but it's definitely frustrating when we get in 20 Barbie dolls and just 2 boxes of Lego.

I think there's an underlying supplier issue between Argos and Lego, maybe.

Argos Southampton honoured the deal for next week. I reserved lotr pirate ship and 2x black gate, neither of which were in stock. Both sets coming in on Wednesday and all three were set aside for pick up then. It is a good deal but I'm not fussed if they refuse to do it on Wednesday despite telling me they will. I was going to wait until the sets were discounted so Argos will make good money outta me ultimately And I save £60

By in United Kingdom,

Really rubbish offer as no store anywhere near me has the three items i want in stock. Really, really annoying!!!!!!!!!! I SAY KEEP IT! I'll wait till they go down in due course.

By in United Kingdom,

I managed to get quite a few of the mid priced Star Wars sets, my son was happy as it meant he got the TMNT Shellracer set. My local branch still has 2 10225 sets, I really would quite like to buy it but not sure if I can justify the £300 (I'd have to get I guess the Sail barge as the third item) hmm decisions.

By in United Kingdom,

I got the Duel on Geonosis Set from argos as part of my 3 for 2 items. On the box there are 3 Padwan Points stickers. It says to stick these on the Star Wars Reward Sheet and collect 5 for a free exclusive star wars gift. However no-one in store had a clue what the reward sheet was, where you send the sheet and what the gift was. There was no reward sheet inside the box. On the argos website advert there is a picture of yoda with the words 'star wars rewards' written over what looks like a small lego death star but I don't know if that is the gift. Does anyone else know?

Apologies Try001 (and GoldJono) was away yesterday. I'll PM you shortly just catching up with things - are the stores honoring late deliveries?

###The Argos Lego Reward Promo...
Argos at Purely Way in Croydon had lots of these reward sheets. I just have to ask for them for it. For every Star Wars item you buy you get 1, 2, 3 or 4 stickers on the box depending on price. Stick five on a reward sheet and you can send off for free Lego Star Wars Character Encyclopaedia with the Exclusive Hans Solo Minifigures. Good thing is it's all free, including Freeport, not so good, the stickers are hard to peel off without ripping the box!
Similarly their is the same promo with most new City boxes. I also bought the city police helicopter 7741 which didn't, I complained to the manager and he was happy to give me another sticker. For this you need to collect 6 stickers to get a free Brickmaster Lego City book with all those pieces included in it that you can use to build 9 or so different models (not all at once)
There is a friends reward promo too, you need only four stickers, but I don't collect that so I don't know the reward.
For those that can't get a card, you can also just stick the correct number of stickers on a piece of paper with your name and address to either:
Argos Lego Star Wars Rewards, Argos Lego City Hero Rewards, or Argos Lego Friends Reward @
FREEPOST NAT 22470, Welshpool, Powys, SY21 72A

###Argos £5 card for every £25 you spend on Lego...
This worked well for me. Just bought only 3 things at a time, then got a £5 voucher and used it for the next three things(3-2), (and you could carry so on if you the money...), thus buying the cheapest 3-2 last, if it come under £25 to maximize the use. They allowed me to do this. For those left to buy at Argos tomorrow, don't buy it all in one order and pay separately each 3 for 2, getting your receipt for the last one 1st to use the £5 discount for the next payment.
Even though it doesn't show on the website, all Lego is in the 3-2 offer once in store I have found.

###2-1 Entry at LEGOLAND Windsor
This you are supposed to get a voucher with every Lego purchase, up until some time in January. You are supposed to get it in store with your purchase so make sure you ask for it, but the staff where I asked were a bit clueless at the momment and I couldn't be bothered much anyway. But great for those who want to go, saves a lot.

So all in all you could get quite a lot out of Argos this few days if you take everything up.
Good luck
(maybe Argos should give me a job in there promo section!)

By in United Kingdom,

Further to this, Argos got back to me this morning to say they did not have the vouchers for the 2-1 LEGOLAND ready in time for the launch!!!!!!!! It will be in stores from the 7th, but they said if you had a receipt from before you can pop back in the shop after the 7th and still claim your voucher.
Hope this helps.

By in United Kingdom,

Unfortunately Argos computers that choose what stock to send stores aren't great, and deliveries aren't as big as they used to be a few years back, seriously we get sent patio sets, that no body wants, by the 100 and a mere handful of Lego sets

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Went back yesterday to pick up some of the cheaper sets and make use of the £5 voucher from my earlier purchases. Got another £5 voucher in the process too :).
Between my Nectar points and the voucher promo £31 got me:
70500 Kai's Fire Mech
70700 Space Swarmer
76004 Spider-Man : Spider-Cycle Chase
76006 Iron Man: Extremis Sea Port Battle
79100 Kraang Lab Escape
79101 Shredder's Dragon Bike
and another £5 to spend at Argos in the future

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

you are lucky my branch wouldn't let me spend the vouchers during the sale... clearly employees just have no idea what is going on...annoying as I would have gone back and bought some other things to maximise the discount. Still got some things I would not have bought otherwise so am happy
