New Minecraft sets revealed on Eurobricks

Posted by ,

High-resolution images of the two new Minecraft sets have been posted on Eurobricks by Grogall.

21105 The Village (brown box) features a villager, pig and zombie micromobs.

21106 The Nether (red box) features ghast and a zombie pigman.

It is said that they'll be available from September 1st and I guess they'll cost the same as the first one: £35 and $35.

I suspect these will sell like hot cakes in the USA but perhaps not so well in Europe. Nevertheless, I think it's a smart move on the part of LEGO to release more of the same and capitalise on the obvious demand for them.

Interesting example of marketing tactics. Most importantly - it is not labelled as a Cuusoo theme, which indicates that there will be probably no reward for the author of the original Lego-minecraft idea. Is it fair?

@ChicoCheco the 'author' of the original Cuusoo idea was Mojang themselves, so I doubt they'll be all that bothered...

Upon further inspection, I can conclude that the sets look very good, however they are very small, I am aware that this effects the price of the product but apart from the characters these sets have NO appeal whatsoever!, I wait in anticipation of a large mining cavern set, and a nether castle but because of the minifigs ( If we can really call them minifigs) I am nonetheless going to buy these.

^ Build one yourself! It will be quicker than waiting.

As to the size, they look to be almost identical in size to the first set of the series. The footprint and 6x6 module size is exactly the same. So these will bolt (well, pin) on to the original.

^ I'm sure that's intentional!

I wish I could get them but the only place they sell them is EB Games for $70 so I don't think so!

Hopefully I will get all the Minecraft set on September 1st:
-Minecraft Micro World (21102)
-Minecraft Micro World, The Village (21105)
-Minecraft Micro Wolrd, The Nether (21106)

But £104.96...

@Huw, yes, I'm sure the size is intentional. I was referring to the previous comment about the size being very small.

@ChicoCheco although they may not be labelled cuusoo, the numbers follow on from the other cuusoo sets.

21100 Shinkai Sub
21101 Hayabusa
21102 Minecraft 1
21103 BTTF
21104 Mars Rover
21105 Minecraft 2
21106 Minecraft 3

So they should probably be considered as cuusoo sets.

Great news for videogame fans.

And in relation to as noted above the Cuusoo idea came from Mojang, the Mojang name is on the box.

We will consider them as Cuusoo as far as the database is concerned.

@Sebatron - they are/will be on shop@home for (if they are priced the same as the first one) $50 each. If you get all three ($150) you'll get free postage, and the VW polybag :-)

Please can someone fax me an explanation of the supposed appeal of these sets? What's next? A Minecraft themed modular, built exclusively from multicoloured 2x4 bricks?

Nicee! I will have to get one this time.

I am going to get the village set!

I wish there wet swords and tools though.

It's odd that there are two ghasts in the Nether. They could have just had one and put in a magma cube or something instead.

By in United Kingdom,

Lovely. I'll be buying both.

They are numbered in the Cuusoo series and it would not make sense to separate them from the existing one in the database so as far as Brickset is concerned, they are Cuusoo sets.

If you asked LEGO whether 'Galaxy Squad' is in the 'Space' theme they'd say no, but for everyone's convenience it makes sense to put in it. Same goes for these sets.

By in United States,

During his Q&A at Bricks by the Bay this weekend, Kevin Hinkle mentioned that Mincraft graduated to a full theme. I don't remember his exact words.

I also don't see the appeal of these sets. They basically are a bunch of pieces you could easily get from Bricklink or at the Pick a Brick wall with the exception of the three rectangular printed bricks/characters. Lego must LOVE this theme because it has to be dirt cheap for them to produce since all they need to do is make two or three relatively cheap new prints and no new expensive molds at all! I for one wish the original Cuusoo project never would of been produced and instead something more interesting would have been made in its place.

@Russell844

Yeah, I was interested to see the Cuusoo branding had been taken off.

Lego wanted the pure Lego brand, but the low-risk cheap production of cuusoo. Cake had and eaten. :-)
