Toyworld Australia’s National Lego Building Competition

Posted by ,

The Toyworld National Lego Building Competition for Australia begins today and runs through until July 31st 2010. The major prize is a Family holiday to Legoland California. You can read more about it here.

Toyworlds latest catalogue which begins this Thursday June the 17th is one of the first to offer Christmas Lay-by’s in Australia. The passenger train 7938 is on the front page for AU$199 and is exclusive to Toyworld stores which is a saving of AU$30. Also when you purchase a Toy Story 3 Lego Set you are given a free gift. Series 1 minifigs are also advertised at 3 for AU$9.99.

Update: the online catalogue still isn't appearing so I have added a list of the items from the catalogue in the comments.

Update 2: Links to the online catalogues have been listed within the comments section for this article. -- jpmanalo

I'm in California and still haven't been to legoland. That's cool that they have a contest that lets you go there if you win. How does the competition work?

1. Build the model of your dreams. 2. Take a picture 3. Take the picture into your local store to be displayed. The best entrant from each store will then go up against the best entrants for the state and then onto the final 8 where the winner will be selected.

Sounds like a fair idea, but being a National competition, one's chances of success will be very slim. A State wide competition would have been more attractive I think, but then again, I really don't know what the Lego fanbase is like in Australia. There aren't many of us Aussies here on Brickset.

I think the competition is more aimed towards KFOL? and is very isolated to particular areas of Australia being that there are no Toyworlds in Sydney CBD and to get to one you have to take about a 1hour long trip out of town and this will leave a lot of Lego builders out of the running.

btw, what's a KFOL? kid fan of lego i would think?

Thank you :)

Hmm, interesting. I'm quite rusty outside the realm of BIONICLE construction, but with the semester ending soon I may be able to throw something together. I'm a bit confused as to why they're not allowing entry via internet submission, since as previously stated the lack thereof does have some impact on the ability of others to enter; fortunately it's not quite as problematic for me.

Sounds interesting, but I don't live in Australia. I am somewhat glad that there isn't one in the U.S., there would be so many people participating there would be almost a zero chance of winning.

Drathmaul: KFOL is kid fan of Lego. TFOL is teen fan of Lego. You probably know what AFOL is.

For some reason the Toyworld catalogue still isn't appearing online, so here is a list of what is in the catalogue. Not much in the way of decent specials, but this is aimed towards parents looking to secure items on a layby for Christmas. Please remember, Toyworld stores are able to choose whether or not they participate in the catalogue, so I would suggest a call to your local Toyworld store first to ensure they are participating.

The catalogue is online, however to view the catalogue, you need to click through to the list of stores. Stores that participate in the catalogue will have a link underneath the store location that will take you to the catalogue.

Here are a couple of links to the Toyworld catalogue. One is for Regional locations, and the other is for Metropolitan locations. Again as pointed out by MinifigHQ, it is worth asking your local Toyworld store if they participate in the catalogue to avoid disappointment:
