The welder

Posted by ,

It's been a slow weekend for LEGO news. In the UK, it's been a holiday weekend so I've been out and about with my family and haven't had much time to post news here anyway. When I did finally get 5 minutes last night, my town was without telephone or broadband access for 4 hours due (I suspect) to a fault at the exchange. Being without Internet is frustrating given how much we rely on it these days.

Anyway, it's back now, so here's another photo of one of the better minifigs in series 11: the welder. He features a new welders' mask, welding torch and an orange 1 x 1 gas cylinder. In Europe, I think I'm right in saying that (a) there should be two cylinders, oxygen and acetylene, and (b) neither would be orange; they'd be black and maroon. Despite that, it looks cool and we can all understand what it's supposed to be.

As for feeling him out, the acute corners of the helmet may help to identify him.

This is my favourite Minifigure from the series I think. The printed 1x1 orange cylinder is going to be very useful I am sure.

By in Denmark,

I found that for feeling him out, the orange 1x1 round brick was easiest to identify. It falls to the bottom of the bag when you shake it, and is quite distingiushable (sp?) from the beakers and cones with Scientist or Evil Mech. The helmet and the tubing just feels like a lot of strange, well, tubing.

I got the Holiday Elf today and the hat and legs are a lighter green than the body! Anybody else notice this and think it doesn't look good? I really want the Scarecrow and Gingerbread man.

Surprised to find Series 11 out in our neck of the woods already, but not surprised that Wal-Mart shelved them a week early. Randomly grabbed 4 and got 2 Yetis, an elf and Lady Robot. looking forward to the rest of the series!

I am patiently waiting for people on eBay to start doing pre-orders for series 11.
I am glad that it appears that the Welder is common, so finding one, even without feeling for him should be easy.

Thanks a lot for these pictures and feeling tips! They'll definitely come in handy when deciding which ones I want and when I'm feeling. ;)

Gah none in US yet. The helmet looks a little weird here, sort of a swirled color?

In the UK an oxy/acetylene welder would have 2 cylinders, white oxygen and maroon acetylene, but a MIG welder would only have 1 cylinder and it would be dark green, but whichever type of welding he is doing he is very cool.

does the welder have his own head or tis the helmet a mask?

"CMF 11 will not be available in Denmark/Norway/Sweden/Finland/Belgium/The Netherlands or Luxembourg". -Said from a secure source. No reason given but it makes me furious!! I`ve collected all of the 10 first series as many others so why stop now?! I`m _so_ dissapointed of TLG!!!

Did pretty well with these yesterday SITSFUMF - didn't get any surprises in my bags.

Welder - feel the tubing and 1x1 round.
Mountain Climber - it's the pickax.
Carhop - her oval serving plater.
Pretzel girl - flexible pigtails and pretzel.
Gingerbread Man - round head.
Robot Girl - 90 deg neck hinge.
Elf - Pointy head with ears.
Jake & Elwood - Saxaphone and hat.
Yeti - big bumpy head and popcicle.
Tiki Guy - rectangular flexible tiki mask
Grandma - she was the hardest for me. I thought I would be able to feel the basket, but her bumpy hair and the cat were the key. The cat is stiff, the body is about the size of a 1 x 2 brick. Get a hold of that and feel for ears wider than the tail.

For some reason this reminds me of one of the Big Daddies from Bioshock, and I'm sure the parts will be very useful in a MOC of the sort.

I picked up mine in a TRU in Ottawa just this Monday past. Picked up 4 packs: the lady robot (her block head gave her away), the scientist (the flask helped), the yeti (lumpy package, big head), and the welder (I didn't recognize anything feeling the pack and thought I chose the policeman).

@wolverine: the welder has his own yellow head; sort of scruffy face with dirt and a determined/tired expression.

I got a yeti from a toysrus in Throten Colorado they said they had a box but someone put it in the back but I found it hidden in a different area.
