Review: 41025 Puppy's Playhouse

Posted by ,

My in-depth reviews of the latest Friends collectable animals sets concludes with a look at 41025 Puppy's Playhouse.

It consists of a kennel, a see-saw, a food bowl and a puppy. The puppy's design appeared in year 2012 sets, but this is the first time it's been available in tan. The head is very well printed, including its very appealing 'puppy eyes'.

41025 Puppy's PlayhouseThe kennel is adequately designed, and being three studs deep, it has necessitated the use of 2 x 3 slopes which are relatively uncommon, and in medium lavender, are new in this set.

The see-saw is pretty much superfluous, just there to meet the piece count requirements I suspect.

This is perhaps the most boring of the new batch of Friends collectables in my opinion, but nevertheless, like the others, it's worth picking up for parts and of course at £2.99/$4.99, makes a great pocket-money set for young girls.

Nice review Huw! Though I can't see the seasaw being very fun, as there's only one dog to play with it!

^Oh, I don't know...the puppy can put his bone on one end, jump on the other to flip it into the air, then try to catch it before it hits the ground! Hours of fun! ;-)

@Carlq, I must agree, it sounds quite fun for me. (Except for catching the object in the mouth though. And the safety hazards...)

By in Norway,

Whats the point with reviewing these small sets..? The picture tells it all.

^ An excuse to take some pretty photos? Something to post on a slow news day? Or, would you rather there was none?

True story, I guess its better than none after all :) Just feel its time for some good and maybe big news from TLG..

By in Australia,

I liked this one too, although it was the least interesting of these three sets. I bought another puppy (to meet a Bricklink seller's store minimum), but I'm glad I did, the set's more interesting with a second puppy. I do like these sets, though. How many more animals have they got? I mean, the fawn is a new piece, isn't it? So while I don't think there'll be a series 4, I'd definitely like to see one.

A comment and two questions.

That see-saw could be meant to be part of an agility course rather than a playground apparatus. Is that a 3x3 plate in pink supporting the roof? Is there a North American release date for this series yet?

^yes it is, pretty unexpected that the third colour that 3x3 plates come in should be Bright Pink...sign of the times I guess!

Not just for girls! My son loves these sets because of the cute animals. He'd love if they kept adding more...they could do a raccoon, skunk, guinea pig, sheep, something aquatic, etc. Whoever's coaxing all of these animals into these play areas obviously isn't afraid of getting their face bitten off if they've got a squirrel on the premises.

@Zordboy, there is a series 4 and 5 on the way: the animals get more exotic, e.g. penguins and tigers.

@chilis and ARC Trooper Echo, there wasn't much big news around now in 2012 either, it's either a coinecedence, or TLG just doesn't what to reveal anything big around this time of the year.

Huw -- thanks, I honestly didn't know that. But that'll be something to look forward to. Penguins? Well, everything is better with them. *nods*

@tkatt I saw these at a Target store in Washington State.

I saw them at a Target store in PA. Also, I do believe that see-saw is intended to be a piece of dog agility equipment, like in set 3942 Heartlake Dog Show. http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=3942-1
If you ask my dog though, she would say the see-saw is too scary for her! ;-)

If a review for a set like this is the only thing worth reading, this is getting a bit boring.
Also, where are the missiles? :-)
