Sharing your collection with others

Posted by ,

In response to my request for ideas for new features, someone asked for the ability to share their collection and wants lists with others. This was a quick thing to do so on the 'Sets I own' and 'Sets I want' page you'll now see a link which you can send to others to enable them to see your data. Note that you need to ensure that 'Allow other members to view my collection' is ticked on your profile otherwise they'll see a blank list.

While I was at it I have also increased the results page size from 25 rows to 50. If that slows things down too much for you them let me know and I'll reduce it again.

Gravatar

Gravatar
By in United States,

Fighter95, post the URL you are having problems with and perhaps others can try and report back.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Nice collection hustla187.

Gravatar
By in United States,

edit: I click Legolover94 (anyone here so far), then click "View legolover94's collection" which leads me to the non-public message

Gravatar
By in United States,

Whenever I try to view my collection by clicking your profile and then view my collection it will say COLLECTION NOT PUBLIC. The only way I can get it is by entering the URL. Is there any way I can fix it so I can view my collection the normal way again?

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Thats exactly what I'm trying to say!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Guys, guys, guys! I found out the solution to your problems! You don't view your profile, you click on the "My Sets" tab. It works! :D

Gravatar
By in United States,

Very nice but I'm trying to view your sets not mine.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ummmm......exuse me. The "My Sets" page shows you your sets not mine. /:(

Gravatar
By in United States,

Sorry for the double post

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Not sure if this is the issue; but it isn't working for me because I get the wrong URL. Change the "OwnedBy" to "user" in the address bar and it works

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nice, littlelegoluke. I like the one HP set among so many SW.

Gravatar
By in United States,

lego vally, how did you get so many sets?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm getting a "Not Public" message for mine as well...

Perhaps it's only when you try and view your own? :P

Gravatar
By in United States,

Gravatar
By in United States,

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Wow, Leggodt, what i say about your collection is that you are very lucky!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think skliar found the problem which I have hopefully now sorted. LMK...

Gravatar
By in United States,

yup yup yup. i can see your collection. Huw you have a huge collection. lucky. i dont have an at-at.:(

Gravatar
By in United States,

> Huw you have a huge collection.

I have only entered in about 1/3rd of it...

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Thanks heaps Huw. It works now.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Now we need to ability to mark how many copies of a set we own ;)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Cool, but none of them work... and how about being able to edit posts so people like legolover won't have to double post!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like Denver_80203's idea, 'cause I have two V-wings.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Thanks littlelegoluke, I spent waaaaaay too much money on the gunship, though. I wish I had some of the new SW sets that you have.

My sister also has a collection, but I havent entered it yet.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ummm, deluckybrick, you are about the third person to come up with that sme link.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

deluckybrick the reason i have soo many sets is because this year i have been using ebay to buy all my old sets. i check it out religiously every day.

Gravatar
By in United States,

so do i. i got alot of my episode 3 sets from ebay

Gravatar
By in United States,

sorry for double posting, but has anyone noticed that our comments are red?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ummm, this whole 'comments turning different colors thing' is not affecting me. /:\

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ya i have wondering what that is?

Huw what is your link to your sets

I got a lot of my older sets off ebay but other than that i use target

Gravatar
By in United States,

i just scrolled up and realized that.?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Your on to something there, fighter.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Great collections everyone. Wouldn't it be great if you can view a specific page instead of cycling through with the next/prev links?
This will save some time, especially for people with larger collections (ie Novelty and his whopping 27 pages!)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Sorry for the double post but I have a question, why is my last comment pink?

Gravatar
By in United States,

i think i know. ita to tell you where you commented. is that right Huw?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I believe that was bmwlego who suggested it, fighter.

Gravatar
By in United States,

That's why I'm hear. ;)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yeah, I realized that after I looked on the other comment pages and found the original eurobricks site. OOPS

Gravatar
By in United States,

wow lol delukybrick and i like the pink comments shows me my last post

Gravatar
By in United States,

Chucky12,
I agree with you completely! You stated the following:
"Wouldn't it be great if you can view a specific page instead of cycling through with the next/prev links? This will save some time, especially for people with larger collections (ie Novelty and his whopping 27 pages!)" This is a great idea. I have I believe 8 pages of reviews and I am not sure how many pages for my sets page so it would be a time saver to be able to view a specific page. Good idea!
bmwlego

Gravatar
By in United States,

Sorry for the double post, I clicked refresh to see if my last post would be in pink. (it was!)

Thank you huw for adding this feature. Glad to see that the admins not only asked the community to share ideas for improving the site but that they actually took the suggestions seriously enough to implement them! Good start to 08!

Thank you Leggodt for remembering that I was the one who recommended it in the first place.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Huw, how come all my posts are now colored in red? If its some kind of warning, i'm sorry about the arguement.

Gravatar
By in United States,

legoguysw
Several people have asked this question already. From now on your own posts will be colored red/pink on your computer. This way you can see when you last added to a discussion. Now instead of having to read all of the posts to see where you left off, all you have to do is look for your last pink post.
It is not a warning, just a new addition to the brickset experience.
bmwlego

Gravatar
By in United States,

wow amazing u have almost all the '07 star wars sets.

What book/movie/TV show ws rouge shadow in.

Gravatar
By in United States,

> Huw, how come all my posts are now colored in red? If its some kind of
> warning, i'm sorry about the arguement.

No, it's a feature that was requested, so you could see your posts, in particular your last one, and thus follow the rest of the conversation.

Gravatar
By in United States,

littlelegoluke, are you talking to me? Oh yes, I think I have all 07 sets besides the UCS millenium falcon.

Gravatar
By in United States,

To sillyquack, I as well have all the '07 sets except the UCS Millenium Falcon.

To bmwlego, thank you for reguesting of this new feature. But it is really not helping me, because my color is white and to me about half of the other comments, besides mine, are white.

Huw, I hope it's not much, but would you be so kind is to change my comments from white to a more vibrant color like red? That would help a lot. :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Leggodt
The new feature works on my computer. Only your comments should be red and only a moderator's should be yellow (like huw's).
bmwlego

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Leggodt Is the new AT-AT good I'm thinking about getting it???

Gravatar
By in United States,

Exactly bmw -- leggodt, log in and yours should be red for you.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I would reccomemd spider droid and hailfire.

Gravatar
By in United States,

To Fighter95:

Personally I'd get the Hailfire Droid set - it looks cooler and I'm a droid fan (Go MTT!).
I'm not sure what I think of the new Anakin fighter and I agree with Dwarf Vader that the Ep. 3 version looks cooler.

Hope this helps.

-GeoDav

Gravatar
By in United States,

To legolover, if your up to the task of building it I would recommend that you would be satisfied with the motorized at-at, 'cause it's really cool. (If your still not sure, then read my SECOND review of the set.)

To fighter95, I agree that you should get the halfire droid set over the anakin's starfighter set. They are both the same price and the halfire droid set is bigger. And, do I own it, no. But I am about to get it in a couple of days. And I think that the halfire droid set is at either target or walmart, but don't buy it at TRU 'cause it is more expensive there. However, the anakin's starfighter set is not available yet where I live.

Gravatar
By in United States,

DAVID! I haven't heard from you in a while. :)
What color are your comments? Oh and speaking of which, Huw, my comments are still white. I followed your instructions exactly, and they are still white. Can you help, please?

Gravatar
By in United States,

You are welcome!

Gravatar
By in Norway,

First off, happy new year. The listings of my own sets works perfectly, keep up the good work!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Huw, when i write a review it sometimes says after i have written and submitted it:
You must be logged in to write a review', and i am logged in. And when i try to log out nothing happens. Could you try and fix this?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

this quote from David1985. I like how EVERY topic ends up being about Star Wars and no one bothers to stay on topic, unless the topic is already Star Wars.

Hi well i dislike it when most of you talk about star wars beacause it is not related to the topic.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Star Wars ends up in every topic because it is movie related, and there is much more anticipation for pictures of new SW sets because star wars is a very popular theme.

Gravatar
By ,

I don't mind the Star Wars but is it always Star Wars. Now I would not mind citty for a change.

Just my opion ( if thats how u spell it )

Gravatar
By in United States,

Look, I don't know why you don't like Star Wars, it is sooo cool. In fact, if you go to the browse on brickset and look at where it says "Popular Themes" you'll notice that the first theme they list is star wars. Imagine that. And by the way, bmwlego already stated something about this whole "star wars being in every topic" thing. I don't know why you all are so etentive to it when DAVID says it.

And to legoguysw, I also have your problem with your sending reviews thing. It happens to me aoccasionaly.

And besides guys, david said he loved it. I don't know what the problem is here.

P.S. I don't really get sarchasm and I don't plan to.

Gravatar
By in United States,

high five lego dt

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Legoguysw I have the same problem for EVERY review I write lately. It always says I'm not logged in. Strangely though if I copy and paste it onto another review it can be submitted. I hope it can be fixed soon, as its annoying.
Leggodt the problem with every topic ending in Starwars is that it means its going off topic. Remember that once the comment feature was almost taking off Brickset because of spammy and pointless comments. All of these Starwars comments could be classified as "pointless comments since their off topic, and therefore could result in the comment feature being taken away. So as much as we all like Starwars (I'm a fan of it to) lets just stay on topic. Fighter95 could have just read reviews on the Starwars sets and make a choice of what to buy from them (isn’t that what Brickset is for).

Gravatar
By in United States,

Whoah... I feel really behind here. Are they actually gonna rerelease the AT-TE? that'd be awesome...

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Technically, SW is part of this thread as this comprises the bulk of anyone's and everyone's collection (remember this topic is about sharing your collection?) But I totally agree with omgbrick as it does stray off the topic to SW every single time. Don't get me wrong as I do like SW (check out my collection) but I don't want this feature to be locked out again as I do value news and opinions from fellow users!

Gravatar
By in N/A,

I like the feature thanks Huw!

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Personally, I have 134 different sets, not one of which is Star Wars :) http://www.brickset.com/lists/collection.aspx?User=brickzone

I think the Star Wars sets are pretty cool, but I prefer Castle, Town and classic Space, as well as special sets like Café Corner.

If I had unlimited money, I'd buy Star Wars lego also. But for now it remains a negated keyword on my ebay searches (-"star wars" -starwars)

BTW, is it possible to link to one's wishlist?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well, Star Wars is the thing that lead me to LEGOs. Star Wars legos is all I really know. But, I am trying to adapt to other themes like city and creator. And if you'll notice on my wish list(which is viewable according to brickzone) that there are a couple of city sets listed. I understand that a lot of people like sets other than star wars and I'm trying as hard as I can to adapt. But I'm still gettin' there. :) And BTW, I don't start threads, I just follow them. :) So, if ya'll want to get back on topic, I'm cool with that. :) But, I have one last thing to say, star wars IS the most popular, best selling, and most successful lego theme EVER according to the LEGO company; but that doesn't mean that it's the only theme. :D

P.S. I hope this resolves everyone's concerns. :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Okay, to let you all know why this turned into star wars was because I gave the link to my collection, and someone said they saw every single 2007 star wars set in my collection, and then that turned into, what should I buy?, and all of the other stuff.

Gravatar
By in United States,

We get that, sillyquack! Now can we please move on! I'll start us off, sillyquack you have a nice collection.(even though I haven't viewed it yet)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ha ha ha, very funny dwarf vader. :) But there is also in my collection a lot of creator too.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hi guys,

I want to get either the Imperial Dropship or the Hailfire Droid&Spider droid. Which would you recommend?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well, I have 4 stormies, and 25 battle droids, but I thought about supplementing my Imperial forces.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Dwarf Vader do you mean the "keep me logged in"button. Because I have that on, but it doesn't seem to help my review problem.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

zac does that page still work for you because it doesn't work for me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well Dwarf Vader, I have an AAT and 2 carriers already, so I am looking for some medium-to-large sized vehicles to go with them. My goal is to have enough droids to Brickfilm the battle of Utapau. As for the stormies, I have just the one speeder bike from Ewok Attack as my ground forces. I have, by four stormies, 1 commander, 1 pilot, and 2 stormtroopers. I'm considering buying some artillery, like the AT-ST, or something else, but maybe increasing my stormtrooper count is a better idea first.

PS-I do have the gunship, and I think the preliminary pics for the new one look terrible.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Thanks for the recommendations, Dwarf Vader.

Gravatar
By in United States,

PS. I'll post the link

Gravatar
By in United States,

It is the battle in which Obi-wan killed General Grievous.

Gravatar
By ,

Hey zac where are you getting the pictures from, I know it s the website but where are the site getting them it looks like a catologue but how. What country is that site/shop from. Please tell me.

Also starwars is alright I might buy some, but how come it sells for so much on ebay

Gravatar
By in United States,

The website that everyones linking to is South African. That is were the shop is from.

Gravatar
By in United States,

omgbrick
I too have problems with submitting reviews at times. Even though I am loggied in up top, sometimes when I write reviews and click submit I am warned that I need to be logged in first. First I copy my review and then try refreshing the page this at times works. If that doesn't work I click on the "Your profile" link and open up my profile. Then I use the back button to get to the page where I wrote a review (the review is usually still there) and click submit. This always works for me but it shouldn't have to be this way.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I dunno why, but I like the battle of Utapau. I know Kashyyyk would be easier, but Utapau still is a challenge I want to meet. And yes, it is stop motion.

Gravatar
By in United States,

sorry for double post

Gravatar
By in United States,

I figure in addition to that, I need about 15 Star corps troopers for the landing party, and Grevious' starship.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Thanks for the suggestions bmwlego I'll try them next time I write a review. Sorry to interrupt but isn’t all this talk about the battle of Utapau way off topic. Perhaps we should have a chat room or forum for this kind of thing to prevent comments being about something irrelevant to the topic. In a attempt to get everyone on the topic of sharing collections here’s mine:
http://www.brickset.com/lists/collection.aspx?User=omgbrick

Gravatar
By in United States,

To dwarf vader, when you were listing things that deluckybrick needs in order to do his movie, you said that he needed a "dewback." Well, actually, the animal that you are trying to refer to is a boga. Do you understand, dwarf vader?

And to omgbrick, I personally, MOST OF THE TIME, BUT NOT ALL OF THE TIME, don't mind, actually, if we stray off topic. I learn more things from brickset commenteer's own threads. No offense Huw. And if your listening, Huw, could you fix this review submitting problem? That would be greatly appreciated. :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yes, I see your point omgbrick, it was off-topic, but I do agree with leggodt, straying might be OK sometimes, as long as it dosent get out of hand.

Gravatar
By in United States,

You guys do know there is a set with the wheel bike and boga. sorry for the breack beetween posts no power for 3 days!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well, I'm glad I could help guys! :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

i dont care personally witch one it is. I care about the tital.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

I have never heard of that name for the gunship.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am sorry for my horrible spelling and i've known that for a long time. But thanks for the Info on Rouge Shadow

Gravatar
By in United States,

I agree with redfox, I've known about that acronym since Battlefront. And I have actually seen a trailer for that new force unleashed game. It's really cool!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I agree with all the agreeers (if thats how you spell it!), and Dwarf Vader, there are also the LAAT/i, LAAT/c, and LAAT/t variants on it. I've known this since the Clone Wars game.

Gravatar
By in United States,

What is the differance in the ship if u add the /i or /c or /t on it?

Gravatar
By in United States,

cool i guess that is the best name for it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

ok that is kind of self explanatory

Gravatar
By in United States,

Thank you Fighter95. Do you have a brickshelf gallery?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

ya changing the reviews is a good idea

Gravatar
By in Canada,

me too, i dont know if anyones notice or not, but if yuo look at my earlier reviews, some one's gone through there and rated them all bad, so id go through there and make them as good as pocible, to get more good marks

Gravatar
By in United States,

MOC = My Own Creation, in other words you created the model yourself, not using directions from LEGO sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Sadly, I had to remove several sets from my collection. : (

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ooooooohhh...Nice collection Leggodt :D

Gravatar
By in United States,

Are you being sarcastic, fighter, cause I removed like 30 or so of my sets cause some of them actually belonged to some buddies of mine who said I could add them. Then like a week ago they said that I should remove them. Weird right?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hmmm...that's strange. No I wasn't being sarcastic :D

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh! Okay! Well,.....thank you, I guess! :D

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Yeah, that is an awesome collection, to be honest, more pages than my collection! I'm so jealous, you have the 4504 Falcon!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well, I'm jealous that you have the Ultimate Space Battle! Lucky!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Ultimate space battle is so cool! I wish I had it...I do have the 4504 Falcon though :D

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Oh well. I have only seen the Ultimate space battle listed twice on trademe, and the first time was when I bought it, NZD $150, (USD $75?) and I got an etra Droid fighter with it too. The next time was listed at a crazy NZD $360! (USD $180?) It seems the falcon has been listed at a dollar reserve, sadly, I don't have the money, but the opportunity should come again.
