25% off in Holland and Belgium

Posted by ,

It's not just the UK that's enjoying deep discounts at the moment. In Holland, A-Toys is offering 25% off all LEGO, and 45% off when you buy three sets, until 29th of September. (Thanks MrMonkey).

And in Belgium, Dreamland has 25% off all LEGO as well, also until the 29th of September.

Clearly these retailers want you to start your Christmas shopping early and are therefore competing heavily for your custom.

Update: it seems that most, if not all, LEGO stockists in these countries are running this promotion!

By in Belgium,

Having just spent €280 at the new Lego store in Belgium I'm a little annoyed about this. 25% off is about €70! Still, my own fault really.

By in Netherlands,

I think it is a national promotion, all of the Lego selling toystores have the 25% discount; I've seen it on Intertoys, Top1toys, Bart Smit and a couple of others. Probably some action with Lego self?

By in Belgium,

A-Tembo which is a very nice Lego Only store in Breda and Delft and online (http://www.a-tembo.nl) is also giving 25% off. And they already have very competitive prices (They are really nice people too).

Went this morning to the LB Store in Wijnegem, bought only from the PAB wall. Then bought 66405 City Trains Super Pack 4-in-1 for 128,00 euro at Bart Smit and 10197 Fire brigade for 96,00 euro at Dreamland.

When I clicked on your 'toyhouse.nl' link, I got a warning from Firefox: "This Connection is Untrusted"; and under the header: Technical Details it stated the following: "toyhouse.nl uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)"; "this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue".

Getting such a warning is extremely rare! I hardly ever get such a warning, and I am not you average 'family filter on' type of surfer who never visits 'not suitable for work' type of sites, if you catch my drift.

Maybe this does not mean everything it says, but I don't think it is worth taking the risk.

Maybe you might think of this as a bit of fearmongering, but not that long ago I've read in a Dutch newspaper, that a drugsdealer (in Groningen) accepted new Legosets as payment from junkies. Regardless of whatever business someone is in, he or she is in it because it is viable and lucrative. Apparently heisting Lego sets is very provitable. Another article somewhere else I've read not that long ago, reported that criminals are scamming unsuspecting people with Lego sets, which is not altogether that strange given the fact that Lego is very expensive (especially in The Netherlands at regular retail price), and with plenty of collectors of whom some are willing to pay insane prices for certain sets.

At the forum here on Brickset there are also I believe a couple of threads discussing such scams.

I have never heard of the site, and as an avid Lego fan I am always interested in (web)shops that offer a good bargain, but I'll think I will pass on this one.

ps.
As @bartvdpoel already mentioned, A-tembo is a very nice Lego/computer store. Communications via e-mail are always pleasant and friendly, and their prices are very good!

continued....

I don't know if I just jumped to conclusions too hastily.....

I just visited the site via a proxy, and everything looks very normal and unsuspecting. They state to offer Ideal for payment via bank et cetera, however as soon as I unproxy I get that warning again.

According to this ranking site:

http://urlspion.nl/www.toyhouse.nl

toyhouse as over 300 visitors a month et cetera. (visitors do not equal paying customers of course)

I don't know if this is bittersweet irony but the server seems to be located in Groningen.

@Peter1975
if you really want to find out, send them an email for more info, or call them. Perhaps place a small order for something and see what happens?!

ps.
Their prices are really good, I don't think they are too good to be true, but they are far below what most other retailers ask for their sets. However that may also tell something about the over-inflated price-levels at other retailers.

It seems that LEGO Benelux has asked all its retailers to give a 25% discount from 26 to 29 September to celebrate the opening of the first brand store in Belgium.
