2014 Speedorz set revealed at Kmart.com

Bat Strike

Pictures of Legends of Chima Speedorz set 70137 Bat Strike surfaced at KMart.com yesterday. They provide a good view of the new bat head and wings. They also suggest that the horrible packaging that can't be opened without destroying it has been replaced with something more conventional.

It seems, then, that next year we'll be seeing bats, scorpions and spiders. I wonder which side they are on?

(via The Brick Fan and Eurobricks)

Talking of new sets, there are images of an Architecture Eiffel Tower floating around on several sites including Brick Fanatics, which is said to be out in January.

Love it! I especially like the wings and the big ears. Even the Speedor looks decent!

I love the bat, but when will lego make rhinos, bears and beavers.

I'll definitely need some of those minifig bat wings for MOC'ing purposes - great! Note the speedor fairing mould is not new - it's a rehash of the wolf/skunk one. And glad to see the Batmobile wings in a cheap non-licensed set though - I'm very happy!

So... a "bat-guy" who to me looks more like a gargoyle. Still nonetheless very cool though! And I'm glad they changed the awful packaging, it took longer to open the packaging than it did to build the set! :-P

Now we just need to see the rest of them. Lego take my money now, take £1000 of it! :-)

@bob123 - At least the rhinos will appear in the next wave of sets - keep an eye out for Rogon's Rock Flinger... ;-) Bears must make an appearance in 2014 too, but not sure which sets yet.

Oh my, that set looks EPIC! :D The bat's head looks a lot like Shadow Wind's... :D

@Huw, the scorpions will definetily be bad seeing as Laval is fighting one on the sticker book cover. ;-)

@Zordboy, little bat PERSON?:-P

For me this bat looked like a wolf with huge ears on the small picture, but on the bigger, it looks better.
As for the sides: I noticed that good guys have trans blue parts on their weapons, and the bad guys have red, so according to these, the bats are n the "bright" side.

I don't know what to say about the packaging. It looks like something I would see in a dream about new Lego sets (and yes, I dream about that). It just looks kind of dull and in a weird shape. The set image itself has a strangely dull background and the face on the top takes up too much room. Just what I think. I hope it's not as big as it looks, and it probably won't.

LEGO is really failing with this theme. Skunks and foxes are so much better minifigures than bats and the so called spiders. I wish they would have went that route.

I almost forgot: I presume these will be priced similarly to last year too? £9.99? And £14.99 for the one with two Speedorz, presumably Stinger Duel?

Eh, its OK I guess. This whole Chima line has just been somewhat disappointing.

That Eiffel Tower set looks interesting. The only problem though is that it'd look like the Las Vegas version compared to my 2007 one! Speaking of large models, I really wish LEGO would make a big cathedral set of one of the great European churches (Notre Dame, St. Vitus's, Westminster, St. Paul's, St. Stephens, etc.). But now I'm getting too off topic. Anyway, thanks for posting these Huw!

I really like the new wing pieces ;)

@bob123, there will be rhinos next year.

@Telcontar, We all wish LEGO would do some churches, but their stance of not recreating any edifices with religious connections remains. It's an absolute crying shame. And yeah, the Eiffel Tower will look funny next to the great big one (so does the Sydney Opera House), but that's why I display my Architecture models on one shelf, and my Creator Expert models elsewhere. :)

Nice looking set. I can't help thinking that Bat head mold would be awesome for Manbat for the DC Heroes line.

That is the ugliest/dorkiest looking bat Ive ever seen! Well, I hope the spiders and scorpions look a LITTLE better. Oh well hopefully there will be some cool bat themed vehicles.

This is an awesome set with some interesting pieces and a cool bat minifigure, but is anyone else wondering how K-Mart gets these images before the sets are even released?

Can anyone tell me what blue the bat is?

Gandalf sand blue I think

Possibly some of these parts are re-uses of Man-Bat from the upcoming Batman line? I was hoping for a tweaked Monster Fighters bat monster, but this could be interesting if done properly.

@Emraldtiger789: It's normal for retailers to have pics before sets are officially released, so that they will be able to print them in catalogs and have those ready for distribution as soon as they have the sets on store shelves. Generally, however, the LEGO Group also gives them specific instructions on WHEN they are allowed to reveal those sets.

K-Mart has had a habit lately of putting certain sets on their website ahead of schedule, possibly by mistake. They revealed three of next year's Ninjago sets over a week ago and had to take those down, and in the past two days they've also revealed two more of next year's Ninjago sets ahead of schedule. Earlier this year they revealed two of the summer 2013 Hero Factory sets several months ahead of schedule. One thing's for sure: Kmart is not very good at keeping secrets.

Also, I'm fairly certain the bat is Sand Blue.

New wings look good - like all the speedorz I have picked up it will be for the cool parts. I look forward to seeing what sets come out of the three new tribes.
