2014 City sets

Posted by ,

Two days after Grahame commented at Brickset that the latest City set instructions to be uploaded to LEGO.com contain images of 2014 sets, many other LEGO blogs have picked up on the news so I guess it's worth reporting as a separate news article here, even though the images are very pixilated.

One of the two images shows the Police sets and the second, more interesting one, shown here, contains the other City sets:

60053 Race car, bottom right corner
60054 Light repair truck, orange, centre
60055 Monster truck, in the air
60056 Tow truck, beneath it
60057 Camper Van with Canoe, bottom left
60058 Jeep with boat, bottom
60059 Logging truck, top left
60060 Auto transporter, centre right
60061 Airport fire truck, top right

Some of them look great, don't they, particularly the tow- and logging trucks.

By in United Kingdom,

Is that a new brick in 60046? On the building at the side, in an orange colour?

Bob

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

No, just a 1x1 with one stud.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Some of these are looking really good. And is that a new black/white cow just to the left of the camper? That would be neat

Gravatar
By in Croatia,

camper looks like RV from Breaking Bad :)

Gravatar
By in Malaysia,

New black/white cow? That's not new. There's one in the 7637 Farm set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Which ones are your favorite Huw? I personally like the trucks, especially the airport fire truck! :P

Gravatar
By in United States,

The tow truck, logging truck, race car, and car transporter look fantastic. I hadn't planned on buying more City sets in 2014, but these particular sets may be on my wish list.

Gravatar
By in United States,

WOW! These sets look great! :D

...

...

There goes my money... :-(

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

This must be a hoax...there's no Fire or Police sets! (jk)

Gravatar
By in United States,

^haha

These look like some really great sets! Do we have any prices yet?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm wondering if the cow and goat, all by themselves in the left corner, might be a hint towards 2015! I'd love a return to the farm. My harvesters are in need of a classic farmhouse!

Gravatar
By in Spain,

The tow truck, transporter 4x4 and light repair truck are my favourites so far.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The race car looks like a Pikes Peak rally car :D
Love the car hauler and tow truck.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Jeep with jet skis, RV, car transporter, monster truck and logging truck are my favorites!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Am I seeing a helicopter without the one-piece front section?!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Again a lot of good City sets coming down the pipeline. Love the logging and tow truck. As well as that GT race car. That camper is an improvement on 7639 too. I wonder if these might be hitting Brand stores around Black Friday.....usually the first wave hits by then.

By in United States,

From what I can see the sets look good. Except for the Police sets.. Looks like LEGO kinda 'phoned' those in as they look like simple rehashes of older police sets.
I like the other city sets though and that Car Carrier is excellent. I can see using the same techniques to make auto carrier train cars.
Looks like they are having a 'logging' truck as well. At least LEGO is adding more to the works than just first police and construction.

By in United States,

It will likely be only a couple of weeks until prices are known.

Likely prices:

Race Car $15
Repair truck $12
Monster Truck $12
Tow Truck $30
Camper $20
Jeep $20
Logging Truck $20
Auto transport $40
Fire truck $20
60043 $20
60044 $40
60045 $35-40 (kinda unsure, mainly on the truck's piece count)
60046 $50
60047 $90

These sets look great;)
I think I'm going broke next year ;(

Gravatar
By in United States,

I m going to be broke after buying these...

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Finally!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Loving the car transporter, logging truck and 4x4 largely a great bunch of sets again. The police sets are generally poor and lacking anything new just evolutions from early sets

Gravatar
By in Canada,

As my two year old would say: TRUCKCARRYINGCARS

Gravatar
By in Italy,

I really don't understand why they haven't brought forward the new police graphic and dark blue color palette inaugurated this year for sets like museum, high speed chase and police arrest. It was a refreshing idea about look, what a pity.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Funny, I must not be a Lego City gal, because I see this and all I can think is

"BLAH!! How completely boring!! There is nothing here that any of my kids would find even remotely interesting."

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I was really hoping for a long-nosed logging truck.
Here comes my first real attempt at a mod. :-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Airport fire truck is a real beauty. Much better looking one than the 2006 one

Gravatar
By in Greece,

We want the star wars 2014 sets

Gravatar
By in United States,

So are these images not in the physical instruction booklets for 4203? I would almost buy the set just to have a non-pixelated look at the 2014 sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

They will possibly be in 4203 after November shipments come, which also means the mining sets will go on for 1 more year.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The new Octan racing car is fantastic, and the tow truck is a lovely looking model.
Car transporter and logging truck are nice additions to City but not that interesting as builds.
Personally I think the last yellow Fire Tender was one of the best 'toys' LEGO has made in a long while (they have yellow fire tenders at Billund airport) but this new red ones looks like an interesting model too.
The rest are OK but not hugely original, and the Police sets are for the casual buyer only- except maybe the helicopter, which at least looks a bit different to all the other helicopters LEGO have done.

Yes, it's a shame that the police sets aren't using dark blue. And I agree the logging truck needs a proper long nose, but presumably it had a price target to meet and that was that...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I personally think that this is a great line up, the only thing I am not a big fan of is the new police station, i like the current one better.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Crash Tender reminds me of the Rosenbauer Panther 8x8.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I agree the new police color scheme of Black/Blue on White just looks dorky. I love how the Dark Blue of the SWAT Van goes with Light Blue of the Uniforms.

The one thing I will rush out and get is the Wrecker/Tow Truck. Compared to the orange one in the garage from a couple years ago this one just screams Heavy Duty and looks like the one out the TV Show Highway Thru Hell.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

The car transporter looks AMAZING.

The police stuff is hit and miss. I like the jet-ski-transporter as well as the camper van with the canoe, too.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Love them love them love them!!! can't wait to add them to my collection... just need some more buildings... too many vehicles not enough place for people to live and work!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The designs are nice, interesting, and well-done, but overall they leave me underwhelmed. Another camper? The jeep and canoe makes me long for an update on the Rocky River Retreat (6552). There are just too many vehicles. Would a child just getting into LEGO be able to acquire the right kind of bricks to build a proper City building?

Seeing all of these vehicles is just overall disappointing.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This stuff looks alright but need to find a way to store it. :\

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I love the car transporter! Definitely gonna get that. I'm liking the wood transporter, race car and the airport fire truck. But, have you noticed that the first half of city sets in 2012, 2013 and 2014 have all been great vehicles and police sets? they need more ideas. But we all know that the second half of city sets will be more interesting, as it is most years. Probably won't get many police sets though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Roberto, it could be because the dark blue pieces are to expensive to make abundantly. Other than that, I have no idea why they moved back to the old color scheme.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I want to see a better pic of the Police Station....mine is 2 Police Headquarters ago...the last time they used the open flap on boxes

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Having seen these baby's in the flesh it was mixed.
Monster truck: meh... not even gonna say about the prem's...just no...
light repair truck: i saw the premlimary of it and i thought meh, it was just a orange truck. just bland. but it still is meh.
race car: i'm was astonished with the premlimary design but this is taking it further. it goes well with the octan F1 car.
RV\Camper: this took me back to good old days with the old one. it looks like the burgalar van from the muesum. (But i dunno where mr messy was O_o..........
Jeep And Jetski's: it looked (prem's again) dull like an old rehashed design. but wow. the design has evolved alot.
logging truck: i sent huw a Email sayin i had seen a truc that i thought was this masterpiece. but NO i was wrong. xD.
Fire airport truck: i spilt my coffee as i saw the premilarys but this is epic. must.get.now.must.get....
Tow truck: as i saw premlimarys i was like wow, the old tow truck RETURNS!
Car transporter: this is shocking its a first. i liked the cars on the top especially the blue one.

By in Canada,

I'm happy to finally see some photos! I can't wait until we get to see some more details!

I'm very excited about the airport fire truck; I've been using the Forest Fire Fighting truck 4208 as an airport fire truck, so it's nice to have a legit one now.

The car carrier looks amazing; I can't wait to see it in person!

The previous light repair truck is actually my favourite piece, so I'm somewhat interested to see how this one will compare.

Likewise I really enjoy the previous camper, so I'm a little disappointed that this new one looks almost exactly the same.

The logging truck looks interesting, as does the larger tow truck, I am sure I'll pick them up as well.

The jeep looks okay.

Not keen on the police stuff, the racing car or monster truck.

All in all I can't wait to get most of these sets!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Collingwood i can provide some info!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Airport Firetruck looks great.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Definitely want the airport fire truck, but was hoping it would be in yellow. Looks like it was based off a Oshkosh or Rosenberg unit.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like a few of these sets. Especially the police sets as I only have a single police officer in all of my sets. If I ever want to build a city I'm definitely gonna need more but I hope there's not as many good sets in 2014 so I can have a chance to get the other sets I want from the past couple years.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The tow truck is on top of my list.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like the previous white/ blue paint scheme of City police vehicles, as it's similar to the paint scheme of local police vehicles. I like to use the Forest Police minifigures (without the hats) with black legs as they represent the local sheriff's office, and the black Police jacket (it was in a set from 2011, I believe) with dark blue instead of black sleeves to represent local police officers.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is there only 1 fire set, or will there be more?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Given that the Fire there was done last year, it is not likely, but it possibly a sign for an airport theme for summer.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

The auto transporter, tow truck & logging truck are a must for my collection. Also that race car looks really nice.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I dont want any of the sets I just want the poster.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The poster is a 3x5 inch paper on the back of the instructions. :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Ok, I think I've changed my mind about the police sets. I want ALL of them, except the police station, which looks bland. I love that police boat transporter!

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Speaking of posters... Wonder why Lego dosen´t produce and sell posters like this one and/or CITY-backgrounds people can add their layouts..

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I really love the grandstand. I wish that Lego would release a set to build this. Personally I would buy heaps for them for my MOC - F1 Grand Prix track.
