Shell promotion starts today

Posted by ,

Fifteen months after we first reported on the Shell/LEGO co-promotion, which began in Hong Kong in August 2012, it has finally made it to the United Kingdom. You can read all about it on the Shell website, but the basics are as follows:

To get the six cars: Fill up with £30 of Shell V-Power Nitro+ Unleaded or Diesel and start collecting the exclusive LEGO model Ferrari cars for just £1.49 each for a limited time only.

To get the minifig pack: Buy any Shell Helix Ultra or Shell Helix HX7 and pick up your FREE exclusive LEGO minifigures at a Shell Service Station.

Offers valid from 09:00 7th November 2013 and expire 23:59 8th January 2014. Whilst stocks last. At participating stores only.

So, it sounds as if it'll be expensive to get them all...

.. expensive .. well relatively.

Even more in Finland €10 straight purchase. €5 with 30 litres of 'fuel' (the way I have been getting them) and €2 if you fill up with the SuperFuel.

The Minifigs are I think the same but if purchased with a 'Shell Wash' ;)

Anyone know how much the Helix stuff is? I'm guessing it's oil

" Shell V-Power Nitro+ Unleaded"

I'm guessing that's premium unleaded?

By in Europe,

It wont be that expensive if you don't fill your car up on each transaction. The average car must take around £60-£70 to fill up now with petrol prices the way they are. All you need to do is purchase the £30 of fuel needed, get your lego model and then half fill your tank again when you want another lego model.

If you fill up each time, It's going to take you twice as long to collect the set.

Ah, got one of these for around 2 euros with a sandwich and a drink at Shell, no fuel at all. Not a bad deal in hindsight!

By in United Kingdom,

Well this is what happened to me last week at a Shell Station.

I filled my car with £20. Went inside to pay. Spotted the Lego models that I was unaware were on sale yet. Bought all 7 (including Minifig pack). Cost me £8.95 (roughly). That's it. £20 of petrol and a complete collection for under £30. BARGAIN!

At this rate it should be in the US by Christmas time? Or I missed out.

By in United Kingdom,

I did the same as Bezley.

It's pure luck of the drawer what type of garage is near you. The first one I went to this morning I put £20 worth of petrol in and just purchased the whole set including the pit crew.

I was then in my girlfriends car and went to fill up at a shell garage near her and they would only sell me 1 car per purchase of fuel.

The first garage is an older guy and he wasn't that bothered methinks lol but the young girl at the other garage was sticking to the rules.

@losimagic

Yes the Helix is the oil for sale in the shop. Both the Ultra and the HX7 are about £12.99 for 1 litre.

By in United States,

@ legomaniac - My guess is that we would see it here closer to spring/summer '14 when fuel prices start going back up again.

By in United Kingdom,

Just got the FXX! My garage is one per £30 transaction. Have started negotiations for the display pack! Great pull back action.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Filled up my car and bought all 7 sets for £1.49 each. Then noticed on my reciept when I got home that the pit crew had been refunded. Sweet! The kind lady even went out back to find me a FXX as there weren't any on display.

By in Australia,

As I collect Lego remotely related to Formula 1, Grand Prix etc - this promotion is fantastic for me!!! We had this in Australia earlier this year. You could buy them for $6 each with fuel or $8 without. I bought 2 of each set without fuel. And in Australia you couldn't buy them all in one go - they released one per week over 6 weeks. Great mini models - love them!!

By in Australia,

There's also one more to this collection 30196 Ferrari pit crew. I had to buy that on ebay.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Why is only Australia is the one didn't sold the Ferrari pit crew I had to make my own version of it with my lego bricks in my collection.

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

In Denmark, you got the pit crew if you bought a "Perfect Shine" carwash.

I find it frustrating that our local Shell are sticking rigidly to the promotion detailed on their website yet lots of people are raping the shelves of these sets by buying a magic tree air freshener, a packet of chewing gum and 10 pounds of the worst fuel they can get their hands on.... By the time I've made my 3rd trip to get another £30 of fuel there will be no sets left

....i have managed to get two sets by using my wife's car too.

By in Netherlands,

I got every car two or three times while they were on sale in the Netherlands. Towards the end of the promotion you could usually pick 'em for €2,- a piece without an extra purchase. Otherwise you had to fill 'er up with 20 litres or buy something in the shop. For some reason the minifigs were never available and I had to get them off of ebay from Singapore.

I've just come back from my local garage very disappointed - and with a seemingly more sanguine son! He was really looking forward to getting his Ferrari when I told him about it last night though...
I got turned down because I only bought regular diesel - they claimed I needed to buy V-Power diesel. I'd never even heard of that - my local garage doesn't even stock/sell it!
Really quite angry about it!

Got the 6 cars in the morning from the Saltaire based petrol station, cost £1.49 each. Out on display by the tills for people to pick up. Then went back in the evening to ask about the minifigures. I was charged £2.49 for those. Are they meant to be more.

By in United States,

Every time I read that this promotion has reached another country I get anxious that they won't ever come to the US. I was really hoping that Shell would run this promotion around the same time the US F1 Grand Prix would be happening in Austin, Texas. It's coming up soon, and I guess they won't try coincide the promo with the race. Keeping my fingers crossed that they will be here before the end of the year at least.

At least it's good to hear they haven't cancelled the promo all together yet.

By in United Kingdom,

I have posted in the forum to this effect but I don't think there's any certainty the Shell promotion will get to the USA. Mainly due to the fact the Massa is being replaced as a F1 driver for Ferrari. Once he's gone they probably will not be able to use a car with his name for promotions such as this. I'm just guessing though. Maybe they'll sneak them out in the USA in the next couple of weeks before the end of the F1 season.

The same offer was a available this summer in Slovakia, As far as I know it's over now ( I live in Ireland). The only difference was that you had to fuel 20 L of V-power (1.49 euro per car) or Helix ( 1.99 per car). If you spend over 4 euro in the shop you get the minifigs for 2.50 (therefore at least 6.50). As I was spending my Holidays in Slovakia I didn't intend on buying any Lego but the moment I saw them I had to get them (I have them all) I RECOMMEND GETTING THE FORMULA TWICE AS THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT DESIGNS AVAILABLE !!! (different stickers and helmets)

By in United Kingdom,

@markscmeichel I got all 7 sets from Saltaire on Saturday with £60 of V-power. The guy said I could have 2 sets, but then let me buy all 6. He then said why not take the minfigs as well. He scanned one of the cars 7 times, so £1.49 each.

By in United Kingdom,

Gutted!

I went to the Shell garage on the A316 and they wouldn't sell me a single model because I didn't buy the Vpower fuel :-(

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

When I filled up tonight the garage would sell me 3, saying that's what they'd been told to limit it to. so I've picked up all the red ones at the moment.

It's odd that the 250 has stickers at the front but it's printed at the back!

By in Australia,

Interesting to see the different experiences in other countries.

In South Africa,
R45 per pack for the vehicles.
R55 for the MiniFigs (only available at Shell Ultra Cities and not at every fuel station). This is a problem for those who won't be traveling...our nearest Shell Ultra City is about 300Km away.

You can buy as many as you like and don't have to purchase fuel or product. However, this may differ from city to city.

By in United Kingdom,

Just visited a Shell in Norwich, didn't even buy fuel, just popped in and 'pretended' not to know how to get the LEGO sets and the advisor just said I could buy a maximum of 2 per visit for 1.49, which I then said I would take and I proceeded to ask about the minifigure collection and he said I can just have them for buying the 2 cars! Worth a try for next visit!
