(Adventure) Time for 10k

Posted by ,

The Adventure Time Project is in the final 100 support stretch, and just to help it along it seems, Cuusoo just posted it on their facebook page as well.

This strange show has a lot of people on both sides of the fence on whether or not it is appropriate content. Personally I like the show a lot, but there are some episodes I know my kids are NOT ready for.

Either way you go though, I must admit post-apocaliptic settings are perfect for anyone with a diverse collection of LEGO (Castle + Space). The build is a fantastic send up of the show and and well scaled for its more mature audiences.

Update: Adventure time has reached 10k

I would definitely love to see this. With all the hype about it currently these things would sell like little, plastic hotcakes.

And once this retches 10k, the next project to retch 10k will be the Bird project ;)

I love Adventure Time! It's a weekly ritual in my house. If they made a whole theme, I'd probably buy like 2 or 3 of each one just to MOC some and standard build the rest!

As for kids, I think it's totally fine for preteens and up. They get all of those jokes whether you'd like em to or not, haha.

I like it, but I liked the earlier version of the project better, which had a new mold for Finn's hat and Jake's head. While I know that LEGO said they didn't want to make new molds for Cuusso projects, doing it like it is now really doesn't look as good, and if not for wanting to show support for the project, I would not buy it if LEGO made it into a set because of how poor those two things look IMO. Still, I would still buy it as I want Cuusso projects to do well, and it might even motivate them to put down money for better figures and more sets if it sells well enough. Oh course, this is only if it gets approved at all. Maybe Cartoon Network will work out a good licence with them so that LEGO can make Finn and Jake's parts actual pieces instead of just printing on existing ones.

^Lego has done Ben 10 sets (those Bionicle looking ones) that were also on the channel before, so it's possible.

From what I've seen of Adventure Time, this will 100% fail LEGO's appropriateness test. I think they will be especially put off by how "kiddy" it presents itself in contrast to the actual content... at least Simpsons is presented as a sitcom, and people know that sitcoms have a range of appropriateness. Adventure Time masquerades as a show for little kids and I bet that will set LEGO's alarm bells ringing.

I'm not a fan of the show, but I must argue that Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Batman aren't necessarily suitable for children either. Like anything else, play is a parent's responsibility.

^And of course: Superman and The Avengers as well. Still has 44 votes left to go.

Oh no! A kids' TV show I'm not even aware of! Back in the day I at least kept up with what was on, even if I didn't know too much about it. I must be getting old! (But also must have not yet had kids! :P)

I dunno. As for me, I've never seen the show, so I can't comment on its appropriateness content-wise, except based on what I've heard, which isn't much. However, again, based on what I've heard, it sounds like it's actually a bit of a dark show packaged as a "show for little kids," to quote ninjagoyo.

Also, sort of off-topic, but regarding the Simpsons (I suppose being in a similar vein to this show), should LEGO really be venturing into themes with a satirical basis? It just doesn't sit with me. :P

Still, best of luck to the project's designer. I can't say that I'll be too interested in purchasing a set based off this, but apparently there's demand. So, yeah, good luck! :)

EDIT: Needs 12 more supports as of 8:50 pm EST.

^ I know... I'm not a fan of the show at all and I don't think it will pass.

Being an Adventure Time fan my views are probably biased, but AT is not something that "masquerades as a show for little kids": it is very deliberate in what it does, which is to be a creator-driven family show that is aimed at kids, but has layers of humor and complexity that other demographics can enjoy (and part of the reason why it's become a cult hit).

Here's hoping that Lego's comment is something along the lines of, "Sorry it can't pass because we've picked up the license!" :D

I think Adventure Time would make some great sets, but I worry about the need for extra pieces. Perhaps if there was a Fiona and Cake set, there wouldn't need to be any new pieces, I don't think. Chima may provide a good tail for Cake. Fiona can use the bunny head from the Collectible Minifigs. It's hard to say if this will pass or not.

Oh my god, "microfig" Lumpy Space Princess as the ice cream piece is the best thing I've ever seen.
