LEGO Minifigures Series 2 {Random bag}

Brickset member Swgriffin went to his local Target today to take advantage of the 20% off sale and found 12 boxes of series 2 minifigures, also at 20% off! Is this the first sighting in Australia?

"Happy days" he says...

By in Australia,

Ooh, I'm so happy I wasn't there, the sight of 12 boxes simultaneuously would surely make me instantaneously combust :-/

By in Australia,

that's strange, I called my local Target a month ago and they said they were only expecting series 2 at the end of September..... Swgrifiin, where in Australia are you (if you don't mind telling me)?
Think I'll be paying my local Target a visit tomorrow..... oh if only I could skip work....... *sigh*

By in Australia,

me too...Target here I come. Toy World also said end of September and that they only got a small allocation of boxes to share with all TW stores in WA.

By in Australia,

I saw them yesterday at Target Bullcreek.

By in Australia,

Target at Warringah Mall (NSW) has them now for $4 each.... The 4 boxes on the shelves had been cherry picked, but they had 6 fresh boxes on the checkout counters!!

By in Australia,

@Cole!
Bullcreek, in WA?! Really?! Damn, I missed it! I thought it would take a few days before coming to WA!
How many did you pick up then? Or was the box picked through already?

By in Australia,

OH MY GOD!

I've gotta in to my Target and check on Saturday.

I came out of my Dark Ages too late to get Series 1, and that's my own fault. But if I don't get any figs from Series 2 my face will probably have a striking resemblance to that of KK2's Karzon: http://www.brickset.com/minifigs/?m=cas293

By in Australia,

Just visited my local Target - only bought what I needed to get 1 complete set. First one I picked out of the box turned out to be the Spartan! Turns out that there were quite a lot of Spartans available; lots of Vampires too - the hardest one to find strangely enough was the Mexican. Only found him towards the end of the second box I went through. Still quite a lot of minifigs available - 4 boxes opened, another 6 (I think) still unopened. Spent 40 mins looking for what I needed and suspect that I got quite a few strange looks. One thing I will say - when series 3 comes out without the barcodes for i.d., it's going to be a real pain to try and identify the minifigs by feeling the bags. It's not as easy as it sounds - mainly because the instructions are so thick that they get in the way.
Just a quick note - I know the Spartan is popular. After buying mine, I can see why, and would have to say that it's probably the best minifig that Lego has produced, even better that the new Boba Fett minifig (which I also own so I can compare). But before you go out and buy as many as you can get, please think of others that may only want 1 to complete their collection. It's exciting to build an army of Spartans, but at the end of the day, I can't think of any sets that you can place them in because none of the Lego themes are suitable. And Lego has never produced a Greek theme.
So before you go the whole hog on Spartans, please a little consideration for your fellow Lego collectors...... at the end of the day, 1 is all you need =)

By in United Kingdom,

Plenty of Series 2 available at Target in Doncaster, Melbourne. The 20% discount has finished now though.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

none at Innaloo, WA, must get to Bullcreek then. thanks

Gravatar
By in Australia,

@ duilim - Words of Wisdom on the Spartan there. Amen to that.

What price are the Series 2 Minifigures at Target, without 20% off discount?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

@TinyTurbosCityAndToyStory - they're $4 each without the discount. If you're going to buy all 16, you might want to bring your own shopping bag cos Target now charges 10cents per bag. Don't know where in Australia you are but if you're in Melbourne, it seems like most of the Melbourne Targets are now stocked with Series 2. Good luck!

By in Australia,

Saw six boxes of the Series 2 minifigs in Brisbane. Out of three Target stores that I've been to, only one has them. Going there today to finish my collection! :)

By in Australia,

Just to let you know guys that Mr Toys Toyworld stores are currently receiving Lego Mini Figures series 2. I was at the Jindalee store today and they received a large amount of cartons into store. I would be heading to Jindalee Mr Toys Toyworld before they sell out.

By in Australia,

~10 boxes at Target Bondi Junction. They look like they have only been touched lightly. They also had a few lose packets of Series 1, maybe half a box.

By in Australia,

Just went into Fremantle Target in WA. They has 4 open boxes that were untouched at lunchtime (Must have just been put out)

Gravatar
By in Australia,

@Cole and scoopi68: I just went to Target Bullcreek and could not find them. Only a box of Series 1 leftovers, all of which, I suspect, were only Cavemen

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Went in to Target today - still no minifigures. I bought 5612 instead, to fill the minifigure-sized hole in my heart.

@ duilium - I'm on the outskirts of Brisbane, but thanks for thinking of me.

@ toylover - Mr Toys at Jindalee?! That's only about an hour's drive from me! Sweet, they'll be at my Mr Toys (Ipswich) soon then.

By in Australia,

@ youngAFOL Thanks for the tip. Fremantle Target still has 4 full boxes open. I left my bar code page with the young guy working there, he was so happy he could pick and choose....another young AFOL in the making perhaps? I got my six minifigs and I'm very happy.

By in Australia,

I went to Target at Macquarie Centre after uni yesterday to buy a spartan. They had a whole heap of series 2 hanging near the counters. Surprisingly the bar code sheet was also hanging next to the minifigures in the store. So I didn't need to pull my own copy out of my bag.

By in Australia,

@ sebulba - Good to know there are some nice shop owners around who realize that we may want to know who we're getting. That thought has certainly brightened my day.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

What have been people been paying for them? I was expecting them to be $4, but I got mine for $3.75 each.

By in Australia,

Do Series 2 polybags use the European barcodes like Series 1? I'll need to know if I ever end up finding them. I'll head back in to the Target in my area sometime this week to look for the third time. I'll check Mr Toys Toyworld too.

By in Australia,

Just got my first 5 minifigs of Series 2 from Toyworld today (Logan Hyperdome, QLD). They had a hand-written sign on the box saying "maximum 5 per customer". So I'll be visiting a few different Toyworld stores to get the set I think.

By in Australia,

Headed into Target to check again today - two boxes, one almost full, the other cherrypicked. I chose one pack at random. It was really hard to buy just one, but I wanted to check out the plastic quality, printing and the like before I splahed out on all 16. It turned out to be the Weightlifter and I don't see any difference between the plastics in sets and the ones used for the Minifigures. The printing on his legs isn't perfect but it's not bad. I'll be heading back in for more as soon as I have some more spare change and hopefully they haven't all disappeared by then.

I'm not going to use a barcode sheet. My plan is to write down the barcode numbers from each of the packets already in my collection and keep that in my wallet, and simply not buy packs with those barcodes agian. The process will be random and surprising, just as LEGO intended it to be, but I'll know I'm not buying the same Minifigure twice.

@ youngAFOL - I got my Weightlifter for $3.75.

By in Australia,

Found 2 complete boxes in my local toyworld today (second toyworld I have visited this week with them).
I thought I picked the complete set (plus a few extras that I really liked), but missed out on the weightlifter :P

Paid $2.99 for each figure, as the person at the counter couldn't remember if they were $2.99 or $3.99.
I offered to pay $3.99 as that is what they were last time I bought the few series 1 figures I needed, but she only charged $2.99 BARGAIN

Can't wait for series 3, they look very cool!

By in Australia,

@ TC - Congratulations on getting them so cheap!

By in Australia,

10 boxes at shnake's Target at Warringah, NSW.

8 boxes at theseasentinel's Target in Rockingham, WA.

11 boxes at zeusy's Toyworld in Melbourne, VIC.

2 boxes at TinyTurbosCityAndToyStory's Target in Ipswich, QLD.

Is it just me or does the distribution of these seem a little unfair?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

@ TinyTurbosCityAndToyStory - yep, some of the Target stores in Melbourne only received 1 box, I was lucky the one closest to me got 10. Not sure why the uneven distribution though......

Gravatar
By in Australia,

@ duilim - One box? Man, now I feel lucky that my Target has two boxes and guilty for complaining!
