Images of 2014 Marvel sets

Posted by ,

A scan from an Australian 2014 consumer catalogue has been posted on Photobucket showing the 2014 Marvel sets, which I believe are the first official non-watermarked images to surface. They'll be available in March and April in Australia, so probably slightly earlier elsewhere.

Does it look as if they have some exciting minifigs in them?

Thanks Jon Brick for the news.

The minifigs all look great apart from the Green Goblin which, for us comic fans, is an abomination. (Not, though, Abomination).

Gravatar
By in United States,

The sets themselves look pretty crap, sadly.
However the minifigs are amazing. Definitely getting a 76108 for the purple pants Hulk!

Kids will be more than happy with these sets. Does anyone think this is an interesting decision by LEGO, to focus on the Ultimate Spider-man world, rather than the more established, traditional comic characters and villains.

I agree with @jondesouva, the Goblin figure is just wrong, Modok and Hydro-Man (I'm guessing that's him on the far left, at the bottom) also look a little poor. hmm...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Actually @BishBrick - I thought that was Hydro-Man initially the same as you but it turns out that it's Electro. Which means it's another one for us purists to be down on. I want the yellow and green suit for Electro.

Gravatar
By in United States,

^^ I think that's because MEGA brands has the license for SpiderMan movies, LEGO has it for USM.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Huw But don't Lego have the Disney link up which should given them access to the Marvel comic costumes?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow that Spider-Trike is just sad. I like the Cap set, good parts, good figures, and a nice vehicle.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Too much of a Spider-Man...

Gravatar
By in France,

At last an official white hood for my Altaïr minifig ! At last !

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like the look of all of the new characters except for the one with the massive head.
A variation of spiderman would have been nice too, without mask or ripped suit maybe.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

The trike isn't even a trike and the Green Goblin looks like a cave troll, but apart from that these are the first Marvel sets that I kind of like.

What does Spiderman need with a helicopter?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

P.s. The proof reader on that sheet should be fired!!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Aww, still no White Tiger?

Oh, well. Power Man and Mary Jane are nice. And the Green Goblin is pretty accurate to his appearance in the show. A regular minifig certainly wouldn't have done him justice.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I'm pleasantly surprised to see that the rumours regarding Taskmaster are correct.

@jondesouza Green Goblin does look like the ultimate (comics) version but I would definitely have preferred a classic Goblin. Though I have to say I never really liked the look of classic electro and I prefer the ultimate electro look.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looking T the pics, most of the figures look very good (but definitely not green goblin). However, most of the sets don't look that exciting currently and only the Doc Oc and Captain America ones are all I like at the moment.

Am I the only one that thinks the spider copter looks rather juniorized?

@Jon_Brick

I've never been a fan of the Ultimate Comics hence my preference. I do understand why TLG has gone for the figure variants they have though, given that the target market for the sets is kids rather than 38 year old men like myself! Then again, I don't have any sense that the cartoon is that popular - certainly not amongst either of my sons or their friends.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

anyone seen that the names of the 2 sets in the left lower corner are switched?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Sets are kind of kiddish and I really wanted that to be Abomination... (especially considering he has a cool model from the video game)

Minifigs look cool though. Nothing from Thor: The Dark World???

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

On the look of the Spiderman characters - aren't they all in line with the forthcoming movie? We've known Jamie Foxx is a white and blue Electro for a while now, and the trailer's just come out and shown the Green Goblin as some sort of super soldier thing.

So I don't think it's anything at all to do with TLG deciding which thread of the comics to follow, they're following the lead of the Andrew Garfield movie sequel, simple as.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@jondesouza I haven't read many of the comics as my early exposure was mostly from the 90's Spider-man and X-men cartoons and I've haven't bothered with the Ultimate cartoon (based on the reviews I'm doing myself a favour). I definitely appreciate what appears to be a classic Doc-Ock though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm excited for the new captain america fig. It will be nice to get a classic version in normal blue. I also would have preferred a comic electro but it make sense that they would want a movie tie-in.

Gravatar
By in Slovakia,

´White hood now I can make decent Assassin .

Gravatar
By in United States,

The sets look cool and all, but how can any of you tell which minifig is which? The image is far too blury for me to make out the names.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Meh, a few minifies interest me but none of the models appeal to me, I'll probably end up getting 76014 and 76017… I'd like Taskmaster, Power Man, and Falcon though so I guess depends on Bricklink prices and how big of sales go on the sets.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^^Go into the image on Flickr and right click to change the size. You can just about make out most of the names in the list along the bottom.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Also toplel @ Captain America labelled as "Spider-Man" at the bottom

Gravatar
By in United States,

Where are the X-Men sets?!?

I'm getting bored with just Spiderman and Avengers sets, I want the mutants.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@zipsforbananas, Thanks! Now that I know who's who, I'll state my opinion.

The Spider Trike looks, just, poor. Like the designer just had a few pieces left on his table, he wanted to see what he could build out of them, and the Spider Trike was the result. Luckily, Electro makes the set.

The Doc Ock Truck Heist looks pretty good, but something about that front bothers me...

Spider Helicopter Rescue looks great; but since when was Green Goblin that size? I confused him for Abonimation at first.

Captain America VS. Hydra looks great, but the vehicle could have a little more 'oomph' to it.

Hulk Lab Smash looks excellent... Except for Modok, who looks way too cartoony.

All in all, it looks like a good wave, but I think DC wins this time.

Gravatar
By in United States,

First thing I thought for 76017 was

"Captain America (or Spiderman?) vs. Kick-Ass?"

Gravatar
By in United States,

Did I spot a white hood on one of those?

Gravatar
By in United States,

The sets are pretty uninspired, but since I'm not the target audience and I rarely buy these for more than the figures, I'm not surprised. But as far as figures go, I guess I'm out of the loop because I haven't heard of half of these people.

I do like the Electro figure (good to see more transparant arms/heads used!). Doc Ock will be a welcome addition, although I rather like the old green spectacled look on the early 2000s figure. For some reason I'm drawn to that Thor and it's nice to see a less tan Captain America, but I'll have to wait and see the Red Skull in person.

Overall, I may pick up some of the figures, but I'm torn on the sets. I'd rather give LEGO my money instead of an aftermarket seller though.

As far as DC goes, I plan on getting all of them. Funny how that works..

Gravatar
By in United States,

Does anyone else notice that all of the vehicles in these sets are EXACTLY the same as ones in Lego Marvel the Videogame?

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Only going for the cap one with the Hydra Tank from the Lego Marvel Game.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm definitely going to get both the Avengers sets and the Green Goblin set. I don't care about the other two as much. $13 for just a horrible trike and just one new figure is not good. Maybe $10, but definitely not $13. Too bad because Electro looks neat with all the Palpatine lightning peices. I already have Doc Ock, so I don't care about getting that set. Not a bad mix of new characters overall though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

We live in a world with a MODOK Minifigure. Anything is possible now!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

^^ MODOK?!?!
Taskmaster! Red Skull! Classic Doc Ock! Falcon! Mary Jane! POWER MAN?!
Comic-styled Thor and Cap figures...
Is Electro styled after ASM2, or USM? It's not classic but it looks very cool. Or. 'electric.'

Oh, man, I'm also happy that big Hulk figure is in another set. I really, really, really didn't want to buy that goofy Avengers set, or overpay on bricklink/ebay. The Lab escape looks way more fun.

I don't love the Spider-Copter set, unfortunately. Might just have to trade for MJ on her own. The Hulk lab and Cap vs Red Skull sets are easy busy. The Electro set will be cheap, and the Ock set looks fun.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Huw MegaBlocks posted recently that they do not currently have any Superhero or comic related licences. Plus Disney now has the Merchandising Rights for ASM back from Sony. I think Lego is just going the Dark Knight Rises type path with ASM. putting out sets that are close enough for the kids, but don't risk stepping into darker more adult movie territories. Probably the same reason we did not see a Winter Soldier set :(

But the MODOK is adorable!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Wow, I NEED all those sets!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was worried that lego wasn't making any more but I believe dc and marvel could last forever. I'm gonna pass on the green goblin set and buy maryjane but its not like mary jane wasn't made in lego before you could get one now. Ultimate spider man gets stuff wrong. the green goblin is a regular sized minifig and should ride a glider. But at least I have the movie one! But that armored truck is epic! I love it it is totally based on the classic comic books gotta have! MODOK the falcon in his classic suit thor in his classic suit and hulk in his purple shorts all in one set! and I love captain america and have been waiting for a hydra weapon of some sort!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm glad there will be another Captain America set. The first one was a bit sad, so nice to see this new set coming!

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

Is "Thor" the same minifigure as last time?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@icey, it's hard to be sure, but the torso looks a little different on Thor.

The Spider-Man sets seem to draw from all the versions, sort of like the Batman sets did (as someone mentioned). That looks like the Electro from the upcoming movie, the Green Goblin (and Power Man) from the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, and Doc Ock looks like the classic version.

I'm really excited about the Captain America set, though I hope there's a cheaper way to build a little Hydra army at some point. And I'm excited about the minifigs for MODOK, MODOK, MODOK, and MODOK. Also MODOK.

Okay but seriously, also excited about the Falcon and Taskmaster characters. Shame we didn't get anything from Thor: The Dark World, and I hope they give us more X-Men some day.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@icey looks like it's the black comic book version of his torso, and not the movie one.

At least MJ has red hair and not the brown color they gave Black widow.

I really want an official Ghost Rider and Punisher, but I won't be holding my breath.

I like that the vehicles look like they came out of the video game. Hopefully we will get more figs/vehicles that tie in.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's so cool to see new Marvel sets! It looks like all of these characters are exactly the same as the ones in the LEGO Marvel Game.

Did anyone else notice that Electro's arms and head are transparent blue?

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

I have that same booklet and apparently the Thor is the classic version

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Huw
That is incorrect, Disney/Marvel acquired the merchandising rights for Spider-man in November 2011 from Sony. Hence the 2013 SDCC Minifig being based on his appearance in Amazing Spider-man 2.

So far SDCC Minifigs represent everything this line should be about. And they are affecting what we get in the sets big time. No Green Lantern to keep him exclusive to 2011 SDCC. No black suited TDKR Batman (awesome), instead we get the inferior grey suit (lame). No iconic Black Suited Spider-man, Phoenix, Spider-woman or ASM2 figs. No wonder fans get so angry and upset every year. Epic Fail on LEGO's part.

The sets are pretty bad and comparable to Town Jr. from the 2000's in juniorazation.

Gravatar
By in United States,

^^^Had not noticed Electro was partially transparent, that is awesome, hope they can move on to make other minifig parts transparent as well.

Super excited for Red Skull and MODOK, the new Cap and classic Thor look great, too. I wish Goblin were different; the way he is makes the Hulk a little *less* Incredible.

I rarely get excited about minifigs, but this bunch looks really promising. I'm still holding out for a classic Hawkeye, though.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

They had me at MODOK.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I am so disappointed in these set designs. The minifigures are the only selling point. I think it's funny that the descriptions for 76014 and 76015 are mixed up.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The armored car is quite nice, and I rather like the Hydra Tank, but the rest of the sets are a bit weak.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

In the 2014 booklet on page 19 it shows mixels and it has pictures for sets 41501 Vulk 41502 Zorch Infernites MAX 41503 Krader 41505 Shuff Infernites MAX 41506 Teslo 41507 Zaptor Electroids MAX

If I bought even one of these sets, I'd have to start making down payments on a Ford F-150 to compensate for my lost manhood. I understand that Lego sets are childrens' building toys, but as an adult collector I'd at least like to justify my hobby every now and then by pointing out that the majority of Lego sets I buy don't fall into the "juvenile" category. With the exception of the minifigures (oh, how I grow tired of saying that first part) these sets appear mundane. Okay, I forgot that the only thing AFOLs are allowed to be critical of is the MSRP... I apologise.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I saw someone say the sets themselves are mundane but I'll be honest they remind me of classic LEGO sets. The Lab set for example, sure doesn't look much, but it looks very comicy and look old school, where simple parts are used in basic ways

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think that hydra tank is the closest you'll get to a real military lego set.....Just saying.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Other than Red Skull, Falcon and classic Doc Ock, the rest I can quite happily pass up on.

Gravatar
By in Indonesia,

You know what minifigure really disappoints me? The Falcon. His wings are attached to his arms! They don't stay out straight like that if his arms are in that position!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I probably won't pick up any of these sets ... but I Love those minifigs. Falcon! And Power Man! I couldn't believe we got a Lego Red Skull, but that and Taskmaster will be really good. Oh, and MODOK just looks adorable.

By in South Africa,

@Jotg85 : Could you please upload the pictures of all The Mixels somewhere here for all of us to see.

Here are my thoughts on the sets:

76014: Spider Trike vs Electro: The minifigures are great and it looks like Electro has a transparent head and arms. Spider man is the same as always ,but is very cool nonetheless. The set is overall really nice and so is Electro`s platform.

76015:Doc Ock`s Truck Heist: This set is not my favourite set. Doc Ock is not nearly as cool as The Ultimate Spider Man on the contrary he is not nice at all.The rest of the set looks like a larger city truck which is cool since you can never have enough bank trucks :p

76016: Spider Helicopter Rescue: This set is just awesome. The Helicopter is well built and will go well with all the other Spider Man vehicles we already have. The Figures are all nice. Power man is very Accurate to his show appearance and will go nicely with The Iron Fist and Spidey I Already own.Green Goblin is a Big-Fig and he looks nicer than he would have in minifigure form.Mary Jane(or MJ) is a nice minifigure and looks a lot better than the previous minifigure and is also a nice addition to the Spidey minifig collection

76017:Captain America vs Hydra: The set is one of my favourite`s .The comic style Captain America is very cool. The Red Skull(Finally he is a Minifigure !!!!) is a long needed (and wanted minifigure) he also looks just like in the Comics and The Movie. The Hydra Soldier looks great. The Tank looks plain awesome and the color looks really nice.

76018:Hulk Lab Smash:Cool set .M.O.D.O.K is nice to finally have as a minifigure and look just like his comic version. Falcon looks nice and I think those wings are a new mold.Hulk is nice and I am glad they finally have him in another set . Thor looks like his comic version and will go nicely with all the other comic minifigures in this wave.
The Set looks nice and creative and the drone in the one side looks great.

All the sets except The Truck Heist are on my wanted list. :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I go back on my original idea of Super Heroes requiring a CMF style release- the frustrating swaps!
That said I am no fan of the 'Ultimate' series and like older comic fans am looking out for old favourites - I thought I had spotted MOON KNIGHT here - as if!

Super Hero requests:
*More WB Animated Batman designs, I'll wait a while for that..
*Logan: as in Wolverine in his regular lumberjack shirt/ white vest and jeans.. with bone claws?
*Sabretooth!
*Classic XMen and Fantastic 4... somewhat on the way, maybe?

How many of us might keep the characters we want and just sell the rest, perhaps singular characters with a mini build would have been a better idea?

Gravatar
By in Spain,

I'm happy we'll finally get Taskmaster. Falcon looks good, too.
Overlall I'm not feeling the builds though. Hulk's lab is kinda boring and I'm honestly getting tired of weird vehicles (that Spiderman' set helicopter, the bike...)

I don't know why, but I feel like Lego always does a better job on DC sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like them all. Even though the spider-trike looks a little weird it has good pieces. My least favorite is probably the cap set I don't like the tank that much but I might buy it anyways. I definitely like the hulk lab smash and the spider-helicopter but they're all pretty good.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Need a white tiger and we will finally have the full team from ultimate spider man

Gravatar
By in Canada,

While they are still focusing on the animated series the classic Doctor Octopus is obviously from the comics - a step in the right direction. Hopefully we'll get the same for Green Goblin, I have always disliked the "Ultimate" version of GG and was very disappointed that they went this route in the cartoon as well. Other than that I love the minifigs from the Spider-Copter set and will perhaps use the copter for something else...? Cap's set looks great, very excited for the Avengers lab, though I would still rather see Avengers Mansion or Avengers Tower, and if I get the Spider-Trike it will be for Movie - Electro only.

Interesting to see the sets were featured in the video game before being officially announced. Maybe another chance of seeing a classic Green Goblin... or perhaps, finally, a Fantastic Four set???
