Advent Day 7 - Star Wars

Posted by ,

Anybody who has purchased a LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar in the past will have known it was coming. On the seventh day of this year's calendar we have a weapons rack.

Not a lot can be said about this really, it stores three different blasters, and makes use of dark and light bluish grey pieces for the most part. I quite like the curved style of the rack (more so than in previous years anyway) but the blue hinge piece looks out of place to me and another grey or even a black piece would have been preferable.

While it is far from the most interesting inclusion, this weapons rack will provide arms for some of the Minifigures we have received already or are yet to come in the Advent Calendar, so will be quite useful.

Overall - 2 - This is about as exciting as a weapons rack can get, useful, but not particularly interesting.

These weapons will be very handy as soon as we're given the new "blasters" in 2014!
I'll store as many as possible because I'm affraid the army builder packs won't have the old ones any longer... :(

I find it annoying how you don't just get weapons with the minifigures. I mean, weapon racks are nice, but three blasters isn't enough to arm everyone.

I think there might be enough weapons this year though, as there is 1) blaster pistol for the Scout Trooper, 2) medium blasters for the Endor Trooper and Battle Droid, and 1) blaster rifle for the Clone Trooper. This leaves the Geonossian blaster for the Pilot. The only ones that don't have weapons are the two droids, young Boba and Santa Fett.

What's LEGO thinking when they put a blue hinge in? Do they think no one will notice? It shouldn't cost them more to so grey or black. It's frustrating and makes me think they don't care to pay attention to details.

I gotta say I quite like that the hinge is blue. It adds to the color scheme in Jango Fett's helmet, and in his ship.

MorkMan, i think they did it because of greger's reasoning above. Also, LEGO often tries to add more color into their models when able

It seems to me lego typically tries to include greys blocks as much as possible. Look at any space ship or plane, and the majority of the ship will be greys, with only accents in color. Very difficult to find sets to buy to make colorful MOC spaceships. I'm glad to see the blue there.

I think it is funny there is so much debate just over that blue piece xD

I think next year I'm just going to Bricklink the special edition figs from the calendar and get myself a traditional chocolate one, at least then even if it looks rubbish you can still eat it.

^ I'm glad that I haven't gotten a chocolate one for a couple years now, LEGO at least adds to my parts collection, not my waistline :D

Don't the Separatists have a blue and grey colour scheme? At least in the Clone Wars they do, looking at the Separatist shuttle and the AAT. That's what I thought of when I saw these colours on the rack (not that there are any separatists to use the rack here).

I don't like the trend of including the weapons separate to figures in the Star Wars calendars; accessories make a Minifigure that much more interesting. And having a weapons rack model is just lazy, we could have another mini model! They make good furniture for ships though.

Anyway, enjoying the calendar so far!

A gun rack... a gun rack. I don't even own *a* gun, let alone many guns that would necessitate an entire rack. What am I gonna do with a gun rack?

be nice to see another angle. I don't buy the advent calendars as the mini builds aren't usually worth it. This one has other uses for me.
