Now it's 3 for 2 in Argos

Posted by ,

Brickset member tlmartin brought this to my attention: advance information that all toys will be 3 for 2 in Argos from next Wednesday, 22nd-28th September.

Now, I understand that if you reserve sets online you pay the prevailing price when you pick them up, so it might pay to reserve them on the Argos website (direct link to the LEGO section) on Tuedsay for pickup Wednesday. If the offer doesn't come to pass then, well, you just don't collect them.

Happy Shopping!

I am so there! Thanks for the heads up. I'll reserve and then buy if the offer is actually on. Roll on Christmas!

I just checked the terms & conditions and you're correct about the prevailing price thing, the price you pay is the price on the day at point of pickup, so not necessarily what you reserved at if the price gets changed overnight, (seems a bit wrong to be honest, but there we go).
I'm seriously tempted by these 3 for 2's but can't help feel there is going to be a better deal later on.... dare i gamble? Decisions, decisions... (wish i'd got 3 for 2 on my minifigs though, gosh darn it, that would have saved a tidy sum).

Wow. Argos along with a few other places is the only place that i can buy lego.

By in Canada,

I know this is off topic. The site was down for a few hours today.

I am crossing my fingers that the Harry Potter range drops in to this. These offers must be a dream come true to ebay sellers. I have noticed there is a roaring trade in older lego sets on that site. lol

This is one sweet deal...but does it only last from the 22nd to the 28th??? I extremely hope the HP sets get released during this period =) But dont do these kind of offers normally last a month or so?

@finger2314 - very cheap for that set. If you can get this in the 3 for 2, its a world of bargainness.

Good luck finding that in stock anywhere though!

@ I like Lego: Yeah, it was down for me too! Only for an hour or so though. (I don't know for sure about how long it was down, I wasn't home all morning.) Thanks for verifying I'm not seeing things!

May get some series 2 figures if they get them in stock soon. Quite a good deal. I hope they reduce the slave I one soon.

Slave 1 at £80 is outrageous. In fact, it's probably the only recent set by Lego that has left a bad taste in my mouth. It just feels cynical in its third outing already, especially with the bizarre inclusion of Bossk as an inducement.

This advance Argos 3 for 2 tip seems to have come from one particular source who works at Argos and who has posted on a forum. I really hope it's genuine....

He or she has also stated that adverts will appear in the Daily Mirror today publicising the offer. Can any Mirror readers confirm that they've seen an ad ?

@2314 - £50 is good for the Alamut set, but these PoP sets are being heavily discounted by a number of retailers. Amazon are doing the Alamut set for £55 and free postage, for instance, and its in stock.

Also, assuming this Argos deal is genuine, it looks like discounted sets won't be included in the deal.

Finally, given that the deal expires on 28th September, don't hold your breath about the inclusion of HP sets which don't officially launch until 1st October.....

Just ordered Portal of Atlantis, TS3 Train Set and Slave I for collection tomorrow, hopefully this 3for2 will materialise otherwise I won't pick them up. I was going to reserve 3 more sets at a lower price but it struck me that it may confuse Argos and give me the 2 cheapest items free from the 6 sets. I'll hold fire on the second order I think.

@atkinsar: You could do the two transactions separately, i.e. take your reserved expensive stuff first, then having got the deal and paid up, go back round again with the next reserved lot - it may look a bit silly, but i think thanks to the minifigs most of us have had the funny looks by now - we AFOLS have a shared common experience lol.

thanks for the tip legomatt, I might give it a go, or I might just wait to see if this 3for2 actually happens first.

I can't see anything on their site, which means there has to be at least a little bit of doubt. Either way, given the paucity of Star Wars lego in stock, I have reserved 3 items. They keep them for you until the end of the next working day, so nothing to lose. :-)

I can confirm this info, hate to admit it but whilst watching emmerdale there was an advert from Argos promoting this 3 for 2 offer from the 22nd - 28th. It's also on a number of other sites including the money saving expert http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?p=36745751#post36745751

I think a few of the sites are reporting its only on toys between £9.99 and £39.99, which rules out rather a lot of the Star Wars lego range. Hope this is not the case!

By in United Kingdom,

The advert I just saw on TV said £9.99 - £49.99 on the main 3-for-2 toys offer, and £9.99-£39.99 for the Chad Valley toys. It did say see the website for more info, but the current offer page hasn't been updated yet. The TV advert did have the Lego logo on, but I think it was a TS3 Lego toy shown, I hope the SW Lego is included in the "All" toys!

I've placed orders for all sorts in readiness for tomorrow's official announcement. If the offer isn't on (i.e. orders over £40) then I won't collect them. There are more sets here than the Boots 3-4-2 offer. A good opportunity to stock up for your own LEGO vault or............dare I say it..........Christmas is coming!!!!
PS - I feel your best bet for the much sought after Harry Potter sets is either the lego website or Legoland Windsor. My guess is that Lego have done a "Batman" and not made enough for demand. These sets will be THE ones to grab in the Christmas rush (and a certain Slave 1).

There is the potential for Argos to have the single biggest non pick up day in its history of on-line reservations tomorrow.

By in United Kingdom,

3 for 2 offer is now up and running on ALL toys, though it's not on the front page of the website it is detailed on the individual toy pages. Just ordered 3 slave 1's for pick up!

By in United Kingdom,

Will the stores honour the 3 for 2 deal on items reserved BEFORE the offer began... i've noticed that the discount gets applied on the website automatically, so will my reserved items from yesterday that have no discount shown still be good for the discount (applied at point of sale perhaps) when I go to pick them up? I really don't want a wasted journey or that horribly awkward conversation with innocent staff person.

@legomatt - if you put your reservation code into the in-store machines, you don't have to speak with anyone until after you've paid !

Confusion reigns - according to the website there's no £49.99 upper limit - it would seem that everything goes. We'll see when I get to the store....
