Advent Day 11 - Star Wars

Posted by ,

(CapnRex is away at the moment so I'm posting on his behalf).

To go with yesterday's Clone Trooper, today we have an AT-TE mini model. This is a rather popular vehicle in the films, although the past Advent Calendar models of walkers have been unsuccessful (as evidenced by last year's distinctly average AT-AT). This model is quite reasonable in my opinion, although it lacks accuracy, mainly down to the complexity of the actual AT-TE which we see in the latter films of the Prequel Trilogy, and extensively in the Clone Wars.

The model consists of fifteen small pieces, which makes it a little fragile. However it does capture the appearance of the vehicle fairly well, with the most prominent features of the six legs and the gun nicely recreated. The legs are moveable, as is the gun on top, and a 1 x 1 slope in trans-black is included to form the driver's cab at the front.

Perhaps the most bizarre inclusion however is the dark bluish grey 1 x 1 round plate on the top, which looks a little out of place.

Overall - 3.5 - Quite a nice little interpretation of a difficult vehicle to recreate, but lacking in accuracy in my opinion.

Thank's for the spoiler alert! ;)

Opening your calendar in advance? Shame on you! ;)

I've nothing with Clone Wars but today's pretty good for spare parts.

It reminds me of those "computer bug" things made out computer chips...

I find it looks a little better if you push the front and back legs in a little further than the middle.

^If you look closely at the picture in the advent calender that's actually correct.

I'd probably bump this up at least another half-point; for some reason I like the walkers and LEGO's clever interpretation of them in micro-scale. I remember thinking that Huw had lowballed the AT-AT last year, one of the few disagreements I had. Oh well, to each his own LEGO.

^^That is if you have the advent calender.

Will CapnRex be doing reviews again tomorrow? Anyways, great review huw! The only complaint I had about the model was that the cockpit piece wasn't just a flat tile, which I think would have been more accurate.

Is there a Star Wars advent website?
http://www.lego.com/city/advent
Has a new feature each day like an animation or mini-game (not specifically related to the daily model). Is there a Star Wars (or Friends) equivalent?
