Advent Day 16 - Star Wars

Posted by ,

In each of the previous LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendars there have been two weapons racks, and this year is no different. Today we get our second of the pair, which is Geonosian in style and stores two weapons. I prefer the weapons rack from day 7 which looked a little more stylish in my opinion, and included an extra gun as well over this one.

This model uses a dark tan 1x1 brick which is somewhat rare, only appearing in six other sets, but beyond that there is nothing of interest really. We have a standard blaster for the Battle Droid on day 13 and a sonic blaster for yesterday's Geonosian Drone. There is space for an additional two blasters should you wish.

Overall - 1.5 - There is really not a lot to say, I prefer the first weapons rack personally, but neither is very interesting.

I really hate these weapons racks, 1.5 is generous.

Meh, the Sonic Cannon is always nice to get, but I think 1.5 is justified enough.

Couldn't agree more with a 1.5 - a combined weapons rack total of 3.5!
I wonder why Huw hasn't done a review today... I mean, it wasn't just a set of tyres this year, there was an Octan drum of something too! That's got to lift it up from a 1! :P

I wonder if anyone has done a correlation across all three calendars to see if a poor day in one means a poor day in all? At least this one had some dark tan and that modified brick...

I actually really liked todays item. It was nice to finally arm my geonosian and droid with some cool weapons! Plus, I thought that the weapons rack looked a little bit like a rocky chunk of the geonosian landscape, which was cool.

@LegoAthos It's not quite a comparison of whether a poor day in one means a poor day in all, but Oz Brick Nation has been doing a daily review of all 3 calendars, including their kids' reactions, so you could use that to check your theory, but be warned; due to timezones, their reviews would be a day ahead of USA/UK, etc.

Two dark brown cheese slopes instead of just brown would have been nice. :P

Is the Dark Tan a different color than Harry Potter Tan [Also known as Sand-Yellow or Brick-Yellow] ?

I've got lots of 1x1 Bricks in that collor.

^It is, it's quite a bit darker. Both colours have been used together quite effectively in last year's Star Wars Jabba the Hutt sets, have a look at any of those for an easy place to see and compare the difference in shade.

Cool. That explains this very well.
The Harry Potter sets use(d) a combination of the standard Tan and Grey to achieve the castle colors.
I really like this combination of Dark Tan & Standard Tan.
So, eventually the Lego site will catch up, and list the parts? I wonder if it's time to drive to the nearest Lego Store? [1.5 or 2 hour drives away] It's a bit of a hit-or-miss on what will be on the parts wall.
I cannot wait until the Lego stores proposed for Danbury, CT and/or West Hartford, CT open. Especially with only the Lego distribution center in the state, maybe the stores will get fancy pieces out of the parts bin.
