Advent Day 19 - Star Wars

Posted by ,

Today we are presented with another mini model, this time a Sheathipede Class Shuttle. This is another somewhat obscure vehicle, which appears in Star Wars Episodes I, II and III, as well as during the Clone Wars cartoon. Only one Minifigure scale version of this ship has been released before, 8036, but the same vehicle was included in last year's Star Wars Advent Calendar. However, unlike the Republic Gunship from earlier in this calendar which was the same as a model produced before, this is an entirely new version of the Sheathipede Class Shuttle.

I quite like this model, particularly the light bluish grey and blue colour scheme, which looks excellent. The main wing that rises from atop of the ship is nicely recreated using a 1x1 plate with side ring and a pair of 1x3 wedge plates, and I like the blue highlight which runs down the centre of this stabiliser.

The shape is certainly captured and I appreciate the attempt which has been made at recreating the exposed engine on either side of the fuselage by leaving those studs exposed. Personally, I very slightly prefer the model from last year over this one, although I much prefer this colour rather than the somewhat boring tan that has appeared before.

Overall - 4 - A neat and fairly accurate representation of the vehicle, and a swooshable one too!

Not bad, but I think the front could be improved on.

Kind of has echos of the Imperial Shuttle from Return of the Jedi.

I was also leaning towards Imperial Shuttle but based on the color, I figured obscure ship from Clone era.

Thanks for all the phenomenal reviews!

I much prefer this Shuttle model to the former, however, though, as I object to the commercialization of Christmas, I will not be purchasing any advent calendars. (To clarify, I am not Christian, but I have many Christian friends.)

Nice review once again. Although, IMHO, I like this one much more than the one that appeared last year.

I realize that LotR/The Hobbit is much less popular than say, Star Wars, but it would be nice to see a LEGO Middle-earth themed advent calendar one year...

Love this one. Though the front would be so much better if LEGO made an inverted Cheese slope.

I REALLY don't understand how that color is light BLUISH gray, there is no blue in that whatsoever. It really bothers me.

@Telcontar
With 2015 sets probably being the last wave of LotR/Hobbit I'd like to see an Advent Calendar before the theme goes out myself.

@ miamiheat631. Take a look at grey bricks from 2003 and older. the new bricks use a new shade of grey. Has a bluish hue to it when compared to the old ones :)

@legomaniac, this one does look different, but it has no shade of blue whatsoever, but thanks anyways.
