Advent Day 20 - Star Wars

Posted by ,

Another mini model appears today, and this is yet another vehicle from Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and actually a favourite of mine, the Delta-7 Aethersprite-class Light Interceptor. The vehicle is essentially a doorstop with an engine, and I think it looks great in the film as well as in this mini model in my opinion.

The wedge shape is difficult to form at this scale, but I think that a reasonable job has been done recreating it, and I like the mixture of dark red, lime green and red, along with the white stripe which runs down the centre of the vehicle. The cockpit is also present, as is the stabiliser fin at the rear, both of which make use of 1x1 slopes.

Overall - 3.5 - A simple model, but a fairly good representation of the ship and an excellent colour scheme.

I like the use of the neck bracket, though it would perhaps have been better if they had made it in red, as the light gray looks totally out of place.

I like this model. Especially how they made it look like there is the astro droid behind the cockpit with the red 1x1.

^Well, technically, the astromech is supposed to be on the wing of this craft, so I think the exposed stud is just a coincidence resulting from how the model was built.

Just nice to see some colorful ships. That's why Day 4 was so cool. Liking the Wookiepedia links too; I needed a refresher on this ship, as I originally thought it was a Jedi Starfighter.

I think this little starfighter is great. May I inquire as to why it's lost 1.5 points? Other than adding printing such as that seen in the mini building version http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=4487-1 which I doubt LEGO would do in advent calendars, I see no way to improve this micro model.

@BrickBob09 - There are certain vehicles which do not lend themselves to a mini model, and this is one of them. The model is pretty good, but does lack a bit in terms of accuracy, particularly at the rear.
