Advent Day 23 - Star Wars

Posted by ,

Here we are, the penultimate day. A small jetpack powered sled is provided for us today, which looks lovely, and will go nicely with tomorrow's 'surprise.' I like how the skis are formed using 4L bars and brown robot arms, and there is some space for you to stand a Minifigure at the front if you wish.

Probably my favourite element of the model however is the pearl silver jetpack which is used for propulsion. This is attached using a headlight brick, and it slides on nicely behind the 1x2 tile with bar. This accomplishes a fairly sleek appearance, and the sled looks as though it could get up a fair speed with such an engine.

Overall - 4.5 - A tricky model to mark, as there is nothing to compare it to, but the model looks great and will go well with tomorrow's gift.

Not a big fan of the jetpack. I doesn't feel like Lego. More like something from, I don't know. But it is too detailed. But that might just me being stuck in the 80's. I do like the rest of the design though.
And I have actually liked the calendar most of the way through. This is my first Lego calendar, and also the first time I have actually opened Lego Star Wars-anything. I have two unopened sets, that just waits for the right moment. But I will most likely buy the calendar again next year, if there is one.

@greger I agree about the jetpack, there's just something about it that's not LEGO.

This little sled is excellent, although would have liked a 2x2 place for the figure to sit to make it more secure (as opposed to the 1x2 space given). I wouldn't like to be on a rocket powered sled with my legs hanging off the edge :D

^^ I feel the same- there's something not quite right about it. I think it's partly due to the colour and finish. To me it makes it look like cheap plastic, and not the normal ABS we love, giving it the look of a cheap plastic toy rather than a premium LEGO one. This might not make sense to others, but does to me.

I think the jet pack can be used on Jango's body, yes?

Oh, a sled! All along I thought it was some obscure ship from the Clone Wars cartoon. Now it looks kinda cool, not a clunky garbage trawler or something.

I'm probably not going to be free anytime tonight to post, but thanks again CapnRex for taking this on this year! Great Job! And a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!
