First images of all the Mixels

Yesterday violent storms battered southern England and there was major disruption to travel and power. Thankfully the only problem I had was that I lost phone and Internet from about 7pm, but luckily it's back up this morning.

So as a result I'm a bit late publishing news that scans of the complete German consumer catalogue were posted on Brickshelf yesterday and Hoth Bricks posted the first images of the Mixels, which I've straightened up and added to the database.

Personally I am very excited about these. They look great fun and packed with new pieces. They'll be in polybags like the Friends animals sets and they'll be sold for a similar price: the German catalogue quotes €3.99, the same as it does for the Friends polys. I believe they are scheduled for release in March but hopefully we'll see them earlier than that.

I haven't checked every page of the German catalogue looking for new sets but I did notice that it has pictures of series 5 of the Friends Animals, which I was discussing just yesterday in my review of the current series.

If you have a kid who is into LEGO and Pokemon, this is going to be a big winner.
I was not excited about the first images that came out a few months ago, but seeing the whole shebang, I like it a lot.

Nice... I can see some great new pieces for rock-formation building.

By in United Kingdom,

Ok, that was my shot at Lego internet fame and I blew it. Got the German consumer catalogue in my hands since Friday but thought nobody'd be interested.

For what it's worth, there are a few Duplo sets which are mentioned in the catalogue but aren't on Brickset yet at all (not even the numbers):

10570 (starter box, page 6)
10521 (baby calf, page 9)
10529 (lorry, page 10)
10576 (zoo feeding, page 11)
10527 (emergency van, page 12)

What else is noteworthy about the catalogue? Maybe the time-shifted release of sets in Germany and other parts of the world: The catalogue (page 13) marks 6138 as "New in January" when it was actually released in 2011 according to Brickset. Page 54 about the Ninja Turtles TV series shows what might be two future models? Or not? Audio CDs and video DVDs are shown on age 65, together with DK books. All images of the millenium falcon have right and left switched.

Oh right, page 29: not only all Mixels, but also their combined models. I wonder when series 2 will come out.

By in United Kingdom,

I must say, these Mixels are winning me over. Plenty of dark red to be seen which is always a plus :-) I may end up scooping the whole lot up.

^^ nobody'd be interested... LOL :)

Thanks, I'll get those added.

Edit: some of the images are at LEGO.com so I've added them here.

^^ I am feeling exactly the same. At first I was not keen but now I can appreciate them for what they are, certainly worth a second look!

By in United States,

I'm thinking that the three of each colour combined will make great 'monster builiding kits' with bags of potential thanks to the hinges, clips, ball joints, eyes, teeth and so on.

By in Netherlands,

@dcmal: I know that feeling ;) I picked up the catalogue last Saturday in Münster, and I also thought contents were oldish news. Although I did realize while looking through it that I hadn't seen the series 5 Friends animals or the Mixels before.

I however did miss a couple of the announced Lego Movie sets in the catalogue: notably 70811 The Flying Flusher, 70812 Creative Ambush and 70813 Rescue Reinforments

By in United Kingdom,

The Mixels look like perfect Workdesk playthings to me. I suspect I will be buying more than a few of those.

And that Platypus is amazing.

41501-I have no idea why , mainly beacuse he looks cute.
41504-Again, looks cute (and grumpy).
41505-Wait, in the prem's he had a gold chi element on his head. Again cute.
41506-In for a shock. New pipe, lightning peice Mixel joints and a chompy jaw.
41507-Lightning tower. :P.
41508-I like the yellow bush. otherwise, ugly @_@.
Time to sort out my Want List.
EDIT: Looking at the fire combo, TAKE MY MONEY NOW!
EDIT 2: Looking at the logo page thingymob, The blue's are ok orange is odd and green weird.

By in United States,

Meh, I'm not really digging these. The only ones I seem to like are the original 3 that were first revealed. The others are just... meh. However, those combo models really are what caught my eye.

I know my 8 year old will love these. Hopefully they will get him more interested in Lego. :-)

By in United States,

I love all the Mixels, and really love the Combis! Pure insanity! For some reason, my favorites of each are the ones that have one huge eye. No idea why that could be.

By in United States,

After looking through the whole catalog I'm left wondering, does anyone know why they would have the Millenium Falcon sets built with the cockpit on the wrong side?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^ To avoid confusion. In Germany, cars drive on the right side of the road (literally AND figuratively), meaning that the steering wheel is on the left.

By in Canada,

I quite like these little guys and I'm glad we've got pictures of all of them now. Seismo is still my favourite, but some of the others like Teslo and Shuff are cool too.

BZPower has scans of both catalog pages as well as an English translation of a passage from the catalog that tells us some things about the theme's story: http://bzpower.com/story.php?ID=6327

Both the set designs and the theme's premise feel very Jim Hensen to me, and I only hope the media for the theme can live up to that kind of standard! I love all these funny-faced creatures, including the combi models, and it looks like they have a great business model too — impulse-priced sets that each have a unique design and come in series of nine at a time. I have high hopes for this theme; hope I'm not disappointed!

These are adorable! I will definitely pick at least one up.

By in Canada,

Thanks for the link, Aanchir. Those combo models are pretty good. I like the fire and rock ones the best.
